The movie probably should have been a 20 minute short film. 75% of the screen time goes with Aishwarya doing house hold works. And the climax is terrible, I don't understand what director tried to convey in this movie. The standard of movies are going very bad nowadays with incompetent directors who make stupidity and spoil the entire Tamil cinema, rather please consider not making movie unless you can give a decent picture. The concept of suppressed house wife with less independence is great, but the movie didn't do a wholesome job rather than covering the struggle - it's like watching daily household work through cctv, tamil serials are better than this.

Every Indian family must probably watch this. A little over exaggerated but problem is still real in many of the families around. But showing a leaking sink as a serious problem n an educated lady not able to get a plumber on her own were quite illogical. Climax could have been better. However, a sensitive realistic topic worth a watch definitely. Avilable on Zee5 in all South Indian languages. My ratings 6/10! Every Indian family must probably watch this. This review will simply discuss what I've seen from this version, not comparing it to the original as I've not watched it yet. The implications and household lifestyle of this film are very realistic. Yes, I know it doesn't happen in every household, but those of you that deny it happens at all should please consider that just because it doesn't happen in your household (from your perspective) doesn't mean it happens in other households. Every family will have unique needs, but every person will have their individual needs as well. This movie shows the needs of our lead were consistently dismissed by her spouse and her father in law, along with her own family. Throughout the earlier parts of the film, you don't see that the new family are villainous. You see them acting as very normal people, with very normal conversations. The further and further you get, you see that little things that are "normal" in their household are very insensitive and hurtful to our lead. The way they emphasized the cooking and cleaning scenes in the kitchen were really well done. It really made you feel the frustration being in her situation. For example, seeing her have to clean the table cause her husband had no table manners, and clean the kitchen because her husband and friend made a huge mess after cooking, and just experiencing all these frustrations with her was one of the highlights of this film. The progression of Aishwarya's character, going from someone who simply accepted the ways of the house, to speaking up (in a respectful manner) for her interests and her wants was great to see, however the end of the film... felt rushed. If they had added more detail to her breaking point before ending, I think it would have been perfect for me. Ending with the cycle repeating again was hilarious and sad to see, as that is the reality of the situation. In many cases, the man can usually move on with their lives, remarrying, with no negative repercussions, which is great that they ended the movie with that. It was an ending meant to piss off the watcher, and I was initially unsatisfied with it because of that, but upon reflecting I see why that choice was made and why that made sense as an ending.

Director R.kannan intentions are pure,just want to give a clear msg to the male chuvanistic propaganda that remains tagged as family head for ages in the past or be it future,keeps subtle and serves as a faithful to the original.... Aishwarya Rajesh holds the key of the movie,her performance will definitely fetch her some household name among female audiences and is a milestone in her career... Rahul Ravindran is not upto the mark remains as a mute spectator in viewers point of view especially emotion or anger situation seems to be pale and calm expression Overall a worthy package to watch out that serves a must see verdict or remake for every indian language...

It may be good first half showing the poorness of a newly married wife but the second half is very disappointing. Any hindu women will definitely know how to be in time of periods and what to do. Is the m and c women goes against their cultures? Very worst film ever!! Unnecessarily dragged sabarimala issue and finally she left her husband and went on, what to do 😒 Our Indian culture is not like western, if you get a problem to breakup and move on. Every family has its own problems they need to solve by discussing openly with each other. Yes may be the male domination is not right as in movie, she has to question them not to insult them and insult culture.

This is a pure waste of time movie- except for cooking and cleaning utensils and other house hold chores there is nothing much to be seen; it would have been better and a more useful story line if the heroine has some meaningful conversations and bring about a change in her husband and FIL rather than just leaving to her ambitions alone. Am surprised in this day and age how a newly wed does all the works, doesn't bring up basic necessities in the house, doesn't even try to put forth any of her views but becomes rebellious at the end- doesn't help anyone. Except for mockery of couple of age old traditions which may still be followed in some households there is no attempt to reason or have a conversation to bring about change.

One of the worst movies ever made. The content is purely based on feminism but if you look at the characterization of the female protagonist, you'd feel that that character is fully baseless and doesn't really connect with us at all. So many sequences in the film are deliberately injected just to portray that females are actually being used only for kitchen work which could've been easily avoided by presenting some justification from the male characters' side as well but they just avoided it totally and it made us feel like watching an artificially made film just to showcase one's opinion and provides no actual solution to the problem as well, especially the climax of the film was just absurd. The one good thing wrt male characterization that gave a tiny bit of justification was wrt the father-in-law's characters who're the people from the previous generation against whom these kinda films are actually made. Overall, if you're a feminist and really want to get your brain drained with a single point of view kind of an opinion, then this film is for you but if you really are a seeker of equality then it's an easily avoidable one.

A story too real and sort of leaves a bad taste in your mouth, but an eye-opener. Anyone who denies that it has an "anti-religious agenda" or "destroying tradition" definitely portray who they relate to in the movie, and are sadly confusing religion and mysogyny. While some may say its targeting a certain ethnic group, I do not hesitate to say that it carries a message that goes beyond borders and touches everyone. The movie captures the contrast between the beautiful Kerala and the ugly face of mysogyny and hypocrasy of the people. We used this movie as a starting point to open discussion around gender roles and stereotypes.

One of the significant issues I found with the movie was its perpetuation of harmful stereotypes about Indian housewives. It resorted to clichés, depicting them as submissive, devoid of aspirations, and solely defined by their roles within the household. This portrayal not only undermines the strength and resilience of countless Indian women but also fails to acknowledge the multitude of talents and ambitions they possess beyond their domestic duties. It is disheartening to witness a film that chooses to insult rather than appreciate and celebrate the diverse tapestry of Indian women's lives. Indian housewives play integral roles in our society, embodying strength, resilience, and love. They deserve to be portrayed with sensitivity, authenticity, and dignity. I hope that future films will approach such subjects with the respect and understanding they deserve, fostering a more accurate and empowering representation of Indian housewife culture. Let us celebrate the incredible contributions and the stories of Indian women with the depth and nuance they warrant.
