This movie is much better than some people have been saying. Its not the greatest movie but who would think that. Its two cops running around shooting bad guys. The plot is weak but its entertaining. I say, if you like movies with gun fights and car chases, you should check this one out.
I agree this movie is very funny to watch, there's a lot of action all over to keep you glued to screen till the end. Like the bar fight, err, bar trashing by Charlie Sheen just rocks! Or where they drive out from the 5th story building with a Mercedes while at the same time the building explodes!!! That is just one of a kind I don't care what anyone says! Another funny thing is to see 2 million dollars floating around the airport, and to top it off Raul Julias' & Eastwoods' final showdown is just cool!!!
This movie is well worth watching ;)
It's not a bad movie, not in the least, but you won't be impressed enough to remember it for cinematic brilliance.
However, oh my, Sonia Braga is uma brasileira beleza, and Raul Julia is
such a good actor that you'll forgive the bad stunts.
For the most part a formulaic thriller with plot holes so big you can drive a stolen semi through them, The Rookie is made watchable because of a hilariously grizzled performance by Clint Eastwood. If you get past the first 15 minutes and not think too hard about it, The Rookie is an o.k. action movie with a definite tongue-in-cheek portrayal of cop-movie cliches.
I enjoy just about any Eastwood film and this was no different, the chemistry between Sheen and Eastwood was fun.Try it for yourself have the critics are egotists their like assholes everyone has one.
What else can I say. Nothing about it is any good. Bad script, bad dialogue bad acting caused by the preceding two things. Really surprised considering Clint Eastwood took the lead. He must have needed the paycheck. Turned it off after 20 minutes.
While this movie isn't Clint Eastwood's best as a director or actor, it is still a heck of a lot of fun. Charlie Sheen turns in a believable performance in a hard to believe role (Rich boy turned tough cop), and Clint is at his best as the tough, seasoned chop shop cop. There is plenty of action (especially Sheen's single-handed destruction of a biker's hangout and never really a dull moment. Although Raul Julia as a German, is really pushing the envelope of credibility. All in all a fun, funny and thrilling movie.
