Not sure why no one liked this movie. I'll be the first one to throw a cheap knock off under the bus but I really thought this was made well, flowed well.

Martial artist Luke (a solid and likeable performance by Steven Luke) joins forces with Detective Simmons (a lively portrayal by Tony Todd) and other survivors to find and protect people from an outbreak of lethal zombies.
Writer/director Hamid Torabpour relates the familiar, but still enjoyable story at a brisk pace, delivers plenty of gory carnage, maintains a grimly serious take-no-prisoners tone throughout, further spices things up with a refreshing sense of self-mocking humor, and pulls off a startling bleak twist at the end. The sound acting by the capable cast helps a lot: Raina Hein as the feisty Bena, Amanda Day as the sullen Tala, Marcus Dee as Luke's infected buddy Dave, Heide Fellner as the unhinged and vengeful Haley, and Todd Vince as Bena's gung-ho redneck dad. So while this film doesn't break any new ground in the zombie horror genre, it nonetheless still hits all the essential bases in an efficient manner and therefor is worth a watch for zombie horror fans.

This should have been a very big budget movie... The source material demands it. In Dead Pulse there are a lot of set pieces. This film sadly does not have that scale. That being said the film is undeserving of such a low score over all as it is a brave attempt to at least get itto the screen.

Tony Todd is wasted and the beauty of the female protagonist too. To be forgotten.

If you are a die-hard zombie movie fan or even a a Horror B-movie fan then you definitely want to give this one a watch. The firs5 half of the movie moved a little bit slowly, especially with all of the terrible acting and poor writing. The good news is, is that this schlocky film injects a bit of fun finally by adding some great zombie action sequences peppered with a bit of fear.
Candyman (Tony Todd) certainly has certainly been in so many films since that movie. **Goes to check IMDB**. I may not recognize all of the films, but there sure are a lot of them! Especially in the last few years. He was even in the tv show The Orville!
Anyways, back to the movie! I am about 20 minutes in so far and will keep you all posted as I continue to get deeper into this film.
****Edit: Halfway through the movie**** Ok, so it's definitely a cheesy B movie...but we already knew that. The film has a fair bit of zombie action which makes it good in my books. Since the movie clearly isn't going anywhere with its poor story writing, below average acting and terrible editing, at least it starts to make up for that by providing decent action sequence(s). The zombie slaying and bashing isn't even choreographed that well, but there is a good scary feel to being trapped in that maze of underground sewer tunnels with all of those hungry undead. Perhaps the second half of the film will continue with as much decent action as the first half? If it does and it continues to pepper all those action scenes with fear then I am ok with that.
There is even some kind of villain woman who has the worst evil fake laugh I have ever heard! She even wears an eyepatch and all black attire! You have to watch the graveyard scene where she starts off by maniacally laughing at our protagonist. The bad acting in this fake evil laughter is borderline legendary! See 48:00 to see what I am talking about! I am talking some real Roger Cornan Plan-9 From Outer Space cheesy laughter!
Up to this point they just killed the main villain in a graveyard full of zombies, so unless she manages to somehow come back from the dead with her human intelligence, we are basically out of bad guys, out of story arc and just plain out of everything as they are all used up!
Unless our villain returns from the dead (quite possible) then that would certainly put more logs onto the fire allowing this film to continue forwards from here-on until the end. So I bid you adieu until the end of this movie, where I will come back to edit this comment for a final remaining 50% of the movie in review!
*****Edit: Final 50% of the film:*****. Surprisingly the rest of the movie is jam packed with action! As mentioned I am totally ok with this because the acting sucks, the writing and editing suck, but the action is great, even better than the first half of the film! I would be remiss if I didn't mention the part where our hero hops into a piece of farm equipment...a combine no-less and begins mowing down zombies by the hundreds! They call the machine a "Zombine" instead of a combine! For hardcore zombie film aficionados I know you are going to love this part as blood and guts go flying literally everywhere!
Ok the good news is that the final 50% is all action except for the ending which has one heck of a twist in it. I like that they did that twist too! A lot of people didn't like that twist of an ending, but i sure did! Anytime a movie can touch on emotions means that the movie is good enough for you to connect with it. It has a great ending and makes this entire B Zombie movie worth the watch. If you are a die hard zombie film aficionado then this film is a must see and comes recommended. As I am a zombie aficionado I enjoyed it and rate this film 6.5/10, which is a fairly high rating as far as B zombie movies go. Watch it! If you aren't a zombie fan then you should probably avoid it. If you are a B horror movie fan, then it's also recommended. Everyone else avoid this movie like the plague!

Right, well anyone who knows me or have been tracking my review history knows that I am a big zombie afficianado. And anything even remotely zombiesque is something I have to bite into - pardon the pun.
So when I stumbled upon the 2017 zombie movie titled "Zombies" - how original, I know - and starring iconic horror actor Tony Todd - whom was also in the re-make of "Night of the Living Dead" and in movies such as "Candyman" - then of course I had to sit down and watch "Zombies".
Well, let me just be bluntly honest and say that this was a stereotypical zombie story in every aspect of the genre.
"Zombies" had some adequate acting performance. They did actually have gotten together a good cast ensemble to perform in the movie.
They made use of a mixture of good make-up and special effects, which worked out well enough. But they also made use of horrible gray painted faces with little else, and no. Are you kidding me? That kind of horrible low budget zombie make-up doesn't pass in 2017.
It should be said that "Zombies" does indeed have a very alternative ending and take on a zombie outbreak.

The film starts in the middle of a zombie apocalypse without any build up or known cause. Luke (Steven Luke) and Tony Todd create a safe house and scout for human survivors. Memorable scenes include kids on a bus and driving a combine through a field of zombies.
Tony Todd had a less than stellar role and was rather mundane. Steven Luke didn't exhibit any more life than the zombies. His bath salts joke fell flat. Dialogue was somewhat boring with my favorite character being the old guy sitting on his front porch guarding his beer. The ending has a twist which has been done before and better.
Guide: No swearing, sex, or nudity.

What can be written about the awful "Zombies"? The film is so bad that challenges the aspirant writer to find anything reasonable to be said. The screenplay is terrible and seems to be the sequel of another movie, beginning with two men in a cell during a zombie apocalypse. The one-dimension characters have no development and the situations are odd without any explanation. The direction and the acting are also not good and there are many flaws. But the worst is the conclusion, with the fate of the gorgeous Bena and what Luke learns from Sommers. My vote is two.

This is at least a solid 5 in my book, I gave it 6 because the average is unjustly low. I was surprised to see it rated so low on average when I checked the imdb site. If you are a horror fan and like zombie movies, it was definitely worth watching.
