I am a Polish guy from the fine city of Buffalo. This movie was filmed in Canada where there must not be any polish people to help with accents or pronunciation. Buffalo is a cheap city to film in. Why be in Canada? Just one sky line shot would have been nice. The story wasn't memorable. It wasn't really important to me i like to see my city and culture portrayed the right way. Screw Flanders!! And extra line Screw Flanders again. Go Sabers! TO Screwed buffalo over! How many lines do i have now?

I enjoyed the film. Good story, mostly well acted. The one thing that really REALLY annoyed me within the movie was Kingsleys accent. He can not(!) do a US American at all. It distracted me a lot during the film. He also seemed to be off his "game" as far as acting goes....the part could have perhaps been cast better. But, I did enjoy this film. I enjoyed the extras, especially the CG description. Was surprising to see that most of the snow was computer generated. Was interesting also to be made aware of the "stripping of colour" from some scenes. Was interesting to see the side by side shots showing the colour before and after. It was done due to the fact that the trees had green leaves on them and they wanted a cold winter look.

I came into this film positively, it having been recommended by friends. I was drawn into it immediately. I have almost never seen Ben Kingsley do a bad film. I soon realized that this was a farce but not being played so. It was not seen by the director as a farce, so it fell into a thriller, to please audiences. The long stretches of the film that were straight-out farce were brilliant. I didn't want this film to end...I kept hoping that it would end up satisfactory, but it did not. Is this a spoiler? No, it is not. I'd want other film freaks to watch and see if they agree with me. I watched the film through and enjoyed it. Ben Kingsley's characters will always become part of my lexicon of known people.

I watched this flick because nothing else was worth seeing this weekend, so it was a matter of the selecting the best of the worst. Unfortunately, the director decided to not use normal color film in the cameras. There was the usual blue and white effect used, ad nauseam by so many pinheaded directors, then a bronze and white effect, almost no color, and in a very few places, wonderful full color. OK, I'm impressed with the director's artsy-ness. The color thing distracted from what was a pretty good dark comedy with about a dozen great lines and I'll buy the DVD just for those. Also, the work of Tea Leoni is new to me and she in one nice looking number.

Here is a not very popular and not very known film which i come across on the off chance and was very impressed with. I give it a 7 out of 10 but it is a very high 7 and one that might develop into an 8 as time goes by and perhaps on repeat viewings as i could easily see myself watching it again. The film revolves around an alcoholic hit-man who is starting to lose his way and is shipped of to San Francisco to get his habit in order. The film concentrates on him as he tries to recover and the hilarious consequences of his actions. Anyone going into this film expecting an action hit-man film will be disappointed as there are around 10 bullets shot in the entire film. It's a black comedy and it does it very well, the humour is well off base but i found it hilarious and the many circumstances that Frank (Kingsley) finds himself in such as getting drunk in a funeral have hilarious consequences. The acting is top notch and no-one lets the side down. Well worth a try for fans of black comedy

I really wanted to like this dark comedy. Ben Kingsley is believable as a hit man with a drinking problem and even the mafia drama is believable. What is full of garbage and has to be ignored for the film to be liked is the fact that the guy confesses to being a killer and that he will kill again to a room full of AA people and to his sponsor and no one calls the cops. I know writers like to take liberties with AA but the reality is not only that the cops would have been called but that they would have a moral obligation as part of being in AA to do so. There are a million other ways the writers could have handled it but instead they through in something that would never ever happen and that pretty much ruin it for me. I know it's a surreal comedy but that is a step too far to go. The acting was good, the characters good and the story mostly good. I just hate more lies about AA being shown. And no people don't just get up and speak at a podium.

01/20/2019 A different kind of "Hit Man" movie. The storyline is so well done, add to that a cast of professional actors that guarantees viewer immersion. A better than average, good watch. Bon Appetit

This is one of those movies you are going to either love or hate. Most of todays movie "lovers" will have judged it good or bad within the first 10-15 minutes and will have either turned it off or continued. The movie for me really gets going at around the 19 minutes mark, after that is just goes from from good to better and better. The chemistry between Ben Kingsley and Téa Leoni is brilliant, they just fit so well together. Ben Kingsley's deadpan delivery of some really funny lines is superb. Add in such great actors and Bill Pullman and Luke Wilson and you have what I think is a brilliant movie. Most would probably not regard this as a Rom Com, but for me it is up there with the best and I have watched it from start to finish many times. Easy 8/10 for me.

For a dark comedy, I was hoping for some more laugh out load (and almost resent myself) moments. Instead this gets by on Ben Kingsley, despite the fact that their love chemistry dies shortly after briefly stirring on the undertaker's table. The playing bad guys fell short for me as well. One small on target performance, Alison Sealy-Smith in limited time with Kingsley as his co-worker. I appreciate Leoni going for the dry wit, and I wonder with her financing/producing this if she was hoping to bust out of the "small" screen, but sorry it's a misfire here. The idea really had a lot of promise too, an out-of-place person at a self-help group on par with Helena Bonham Carter in "Fight Club."
