Three friends on holiday take a car trip to Wolf Creek in Australia to check out the really wicked meteor crater there. But their trip runs into a bit of a snag when they hike back to their care and are unable to start it (they conveniently parked it next to the 'do not park' sign). They think their troubles are over when they are found by a local toughie (part Crocodile Dundee, part Crocodile Hunter) but the nightmare is just beginning. It seems he preys on vacationers and they're next.
'Wolf Creek' is a pretty solid slasher-type flick that takes a little bit to get going but once it does you'll dig it. The maniac of the piece is a conglomeration of ripped from the headlines madmen and incidents that have occurred in the land of Oz. The filmmakers do a good job of giving it a ripped from the headlines feel and the characters were made a bit more interesting than your usually slasher fare.

This is a movie that filmed on th real location of real incident. Beauty of location was well captured with camera (hand held camera). As well as beauty location also seems horrified where there no man land or rare residence creates a devil atmosphere. Second part of the movie is very scary. Bad man casting is perfect. Brutal killing made me much frightened. How was the real incident, we can feel those moments while watching this horrible scenes. Normally, story is not different for such plots, but real incident and real location gives you a real feel. Shooting in real raining is an plus point of the movie. Must watch for that. I recommended for horror and thriller lovers. Only keep in mind that you are captured in a real life situation. Then feel the experience. Go and grab!

The first half or so of 'Wolf Creek' is like one long, uninteresting introduction. For 45 minutes or so, the film consists of pointless dialogue and some shots of pretty scenery, and that's it. Nothing to even indicate that this is a horror film, nothing to build the tension, and to be honest, nothing to keep you from losing interest and switching off.
After sitting through such a painfully dull first half of 'Wolf Creek', waiting for something to happen, the film picks up and starts to feel like the horror film it's advertised as. The second half of the film is successfully unnerving, with plenty of violence, gore and tension. But it's all too little, too late, and not enough to make up for the uneventful, lifeless first half of the film.
Why not cut the film down and scrap some of the unnecessary dialogue that contributes absolutely nothing to the story? Once it finally gets going, 'Wolf Creek' is okay, but the film as a whole is tainted by such a dull and uninteresting first half.

I rented the unrated version of Wolf Creek right after it was released. All the critics were comparing it to "The Texas Chainsaw Massacre"....how dare they. Wolf Creek was nothing more than a crap fest with bad acting and a horrid script full of nothing but cheap vulgarities that a high schooler could have written. It was a badly made film and no one should have to be subjected to that kind of horrible crappy movie. This has nothing on "Texas Chainsaw Massacre". Half the time I had no idea what was even going on in the movie. The characters made stupid moves and almost created their own demise so it was hard to feel sorry for them. The killer, who seemed more like someone's Aussie grandfather, was as scary as Barney in a clown suit. All he had to back himself up was his filthy mouth and promises to rape kill and torture people. What a waste of film this movie was. Is the movie industry doing this bad??

If I could give this a 0, I would be happy to do it. Wolf creek was just all over the place, I didn't find it one bit scary. It was only just a plain old hillbilly trying to terrorise the party pooper backpackers and trying to kill them. The scenes were dragging on, I felt that I was bored to tears with it. Not great to be honest!

In wishing to avoid spoilers, it is as well to say that I had some limited notions about the film that were close-to and almost completely wrong at the same time. Not for the squeamish though. Very good 'fright' value, that I thought was gone with youth.
Much more could be done with the high-tension points. However I believe that is deliberate. The notion might have been to portray the raw reality of the tale while working to avoid "yet another ..." (insert genre) ... I expect 'genre' buffs to score it lower because it can fall short of preconceived expectations.
Worth the ticket -- Seeing it twice could be self-punishment. I found it very intense.

This is one of the most disturbing and chilling films I have ever watched. It's about three friends vacationing in the countryside, and wounds up stuck in the desert due to their car having broken down. A stranger offers to help them and invites them to stay in his lair. Turns out, he's some sick creep who tortured them mercilessly. Therefore, they attempt to escape, which leads to one horrifying event after the other.
The elements of the film were dark, graphic, dreary and somewhat dull. It was filmed with what it looked like a documentary, lacking spirit, character development and drama. But, quite an intriguing film with stuff that would send your arm hairs stick up. The desert setting matches the dreary, dark mood of the film.
Overall, it is a heart-pounding, yet disturbing film. It's shameful to know that so much harm can be caused by one creep to three innocent people. It is more disturbing to know that this movie is based on a true story.

As these movies go, it was OK. It wasn't too gory, but it wasn't weak either. It is a rather slow movie, nothing happening in the first 30 minutes, but then the pace is frantic enough. I was glad to see that one of the characters involved didn't panic and actually thought things through. Unfortunately, she didn't do the only smart thing she could have done, that is to really hit your opponent while he's down.
The plot is easy enough: three young lively people go into the Australian outback, where they meet a friendly Crocodile Dundee guy. The guy is not so friendly when he gets them in his layer, actually it turns out he is a psycho.
Unfortunately, I've seen a lot of movies like this and didn't really like any one of them. I will rate it average and leave it at that.
