'Who is Alice' carries us on a darkly funny, compelling and sometimes cringe worthy journey into the highs and lows of what human beings will do to try to avoid pain and connect to happiness. Alice is a 35 year old actress desperately hanging on to her 'new young thing' career. She is willing to sacrifice almost everything in order to reach the top and this mind-bending story takes us down the rabbit hole with her. Alice meets Dick, a car salesman who is disillusioned with life and dreaming about becoming a spiritual teacher. Together with a renegade cast of misfit characters they hilariously and awkwardly tie themselves in knots as they find their 'way'. And where does that 'way' lead them? ... To exactly where they are supposed to be. 'Who is Alice' uses humor guided by the a little non-dual thinking to help us look at ourselves and life in a different way. If the insight strikes, your whole perspective can change, while 'in reality' nothing has to change.

I gave this film a good 20 minutes and just could not sit through any more of it! I'm not sure if its purpose is to make a joke out of enlightenment or if the actors and the script was just that bad. I don't understand how anyone has been able to continue watching the entire length of it. It was painful to watch even 20 minutes!

The actors did an excellent job to the point where I totally forgot I was watching a movie, I've got totally absorbed. The most profound truths are dished out with tremendous ease here though there's alway the rational minime trying to make sense of the intangible. This is a great movie for those interested in spirituality and healing!

I like this kind of humour! A bit dark and awkward, very funny. The switches reminded me of The Matrix and Inception, but it's done in an original way. Especially at the end, that has never been done before. I am familiar with the philosophy of non duality which they are talking about in the film. If you've never heard of non duality before, I'm not sure you will understand it in the end. But what I do like, is that they even make fun of that philosophy. It's a nice combination of a few insights and comedy, with original switches.

To be fair I only watched the first half hour, since by then I was convinced I was watching something awful. Some of the "supporting" characters are caricatures, whose performances would be more suited if played opposed Tinky Winky and Laa-Laa. If it's meant to be a comedy...well, I didn't laugh the whole first half hour...

As an Ali Bastian fan, I had to see this film. Especially because she won five or six Best Actress Awards for her role of Alice in this film. We see Ali going from beautiful (as she is) to a panicking actress trying to reach the top. At first I thought this would be a cliché film, but that changed after about 25 minutes when they start messing with the viewer's mind. I enjoyed this film and especially enjoyed Ali's acting. Also a bit compliment for Cally Lawrence. I've seen her in The Office years ago where she was great. In this film she is great again, and very funny.

You don't have to be a great salesman or a nominated movie star to be happy. But... you don't have to lose yourself in the illusion of happiness either. Always try to understand your situation, what's real and what's an illusion. Enjoy the illusion, but have both feet on the ground. This movie tries to depict this idea in a beautiful, well directed and well played comedy. So, why give this a 9 and not 10? Well... First of all, the idea is literally explained and the viewer doesn't have to think so hard to understand it. Second, some action is missing... this is the 21s't century... Anyway - It is a great movie.

Tries to turn a "clever" idea about "who we really are" or what life is really about into a watchable movie. It fails miserably. In spite of the "movie inside a movie inside life" idea it is really just full of clichés, flaccid dialog and poor acting. But most of all it is really without any surprises. Even the BIG SURPRISE at the end falls short. Completely.

This is the creepiest film I have ever seen & I watched it all, what a waste of 1 hour 40mins of my life I had to give one star & that is one too many. All the characters are so bad it will make you cringe. An appalling script with no humour not even a black comedy, unless you like everyone to be creepy.

We just went to the premiere of this movie in Helmond: the Netherlands. The story about Alice and other people in this movie is so familiar that you related very easily to the characters. Every day situations are shown in humorous and unsuspected ways: like in comedy theatre. There is not much more to say - because of the potential spoiler - but there is a wonderful life message in the movie and surprising plot(s). Must see!
