Since of course CBC would never release Leo and me, this is the alternative. I love Brent Carver for real. Take my 10 star review just for him. Amazing acting. Beautiful man. Beautiful acting on his part just by himself. Brent makes this film what it is and I am very grateful that I got the opportunity to learn of it and watch it. This movie is life love and truth itself. Thank you to Brent Carver for putting your all into this considering it is truly a masterpiece in my opinion. Singlehandedly the best film I have ever watched thanks to just Brent Carver alone. Amazing movie and nothing short of a great watch.

There is nothing wrong with the kid and his Cat except having stupid parents. If they would just leave him alone to be who he is, he would have been just fine. Animals are important in the lives of children. They teach unconditional love and respect among other things. Stupid parents tend to teach very little. Mostly they teach bad things if they teach anything at all. The burden of having stupid parents lasts a lifetime and requires much work on the part of the child to turn it around. Why it is necessary to say in 600 words what can be said in less is an indication of someone having stupid parents and/or bosses that make such a requirement necessary. Original point more or less proven.

Dog films have always been a staple of film history. During the silent and early sound era they were especially popular. Cats have not fared well in cinema because rather then be a best friend for a human they, as the saying goes, " don't care ". Here at least is one film that does care about them and presents a memorable fantasy of a boy and his cat. Whiskers and his boy are best friends and, as fate would have it, both make a wish to the Egyptian cat goddess and both wishes come true which sets the pair on a journey to find Whiskers' mother. The film can be seen as having two parts : initially it's a goofy comedy that shows the many ways in which the cat , now become a young man, reacts to being in the body of a human. The script does an excellent job a making the viewer believe the approximately thirty year old man on screen is really a cat in a human body which sets up the serious, and at times dark, second part of the story ...the search for Whiskers' mom. Cat films are few and far between but this unique production is, in the entire animal film genre, perhaps the most successful in establishing the strength of the human/animal bond.

I am giving this movie a 7 out of 10 for the fact that despite my wanting to change the channel while watching it, my kids were completely taken by the film. Jed is a lonely, new boy in town. His parents are "average movie parents"-meaning they fit the criteria of 1.Misc appearance 2.Caught talking about one thing to have it misunderstood-thus setting off the events of the movie 3.They are absolutely clueless the the fact that the family pet has transformed into a human 4.The father sports a mullet (ok, that isn't EXACTLY a criteria, however it's a MULLET!! In the mid-Nineties, really now!) The parents have the "BIG SECRET" they whisper about, then talk louder once they realize their kid is there. Jed thinks they wish to get rid of his loyal frisky sidekick and panics. Side trip-Mullet-Dad takes son to the Museum-originally to see a DaVinci show. However instead they get the last day of the Egyptian Cat Collection (how so plot-oriented and convenient!). While there, Jed reads about Bast, a Cat Goddess who is sort of the Guardian Angel of cats-and he pleads for her to transform Whiskers into a human-assuming that he would then have a boy version of Whiskers. Problem is, the cat year factor has him aged at about 30. Not good. Eventually Whisker and Jed begin a search for Whikser's mother, who, as a kitten Whiskers had promised he would take care of her when she grew old. Although he states cats never help each other out, because he is now human, he wants to follow through on this promise. The movie generally follows the journey of finding Whisker's mom, and teaching Jed that he can make human friends and letting go of things you have outgrown.

This is a sweet and amusing movie about a boy who wishes that his best friend, his pet cat, be turned into a boy. He forgets about cat years, and so gets a 30-year-old man instead. Brent Carver does an excellent job portraying a cat in a man's body; his acting is so convincing that it makes the somewhat ridiculous concept actually seem plausible. Michael Caloz is also good, though most scenes between Jed and Whiskers are still dominated by Mr. Carver. There are problems. It's rife with cliches, from the predictable flashback set-up (the movie would work fine without it) to the stereotypical characterizations of the neighbourhood bullies and Jed's gullible parents. Some of the plot elements and minor characters are wildly exaggerated; the animal shelter "warden" just doesn't make sense in my mind. Less bothersome are the occasional signs of a possibly low budget, such as some of the special effects. A good family movie. Lots of human-cat interaction, and a certain element of magic make it interesting for the kids and the parents can enjoy the delightful turn by Brent Carver.

A very romantic and sweet history about the power of the energy of animals and children. Those who have devotion for Bastet, the Cat Goddess, will just love it and let tears flow.I love cats,Egypt and spirituality. That's why this film is worthwhile! You will also have action, laugh and suspense. No scenes of violence or inappropriate images. It is a safe movie for the entertainment of toddlers and elders. More films like this should be done for the good of moral and healthy leisure time.Congratulations for the creator of the film, the director, and mainly for the actors. It also shows respect, and loyalty between children and animals. We can learn from that the roll an animal plays in the child's development and social behavior.
