Michael Leoni directs When Today Ends, a painfully real, shocking film that covers a topic that seems to go unnoticed far too often: mental health. What a relevant movie for the time we are in. Mental health is such a pressing and significant topic in this day and age. Leoni and his team presents this issue in a modern way to help keep the attention of younger audiences. However, this movie is intended for all ages and generations and should be a learning experience moving forward. It showcases so many different scenarios that your coworker, friend, neighbor, daughter, son, etc. May be going through. You will walk away with a brand new perspective! Great movie.

So many people talk about the issues surrounding youth and mental health, When Today Ends SHOWS you these issues close up and personally. The film is heavy and hard on the heart, but the story is one that needs to be told. The team does a fantastic job at somehow capturing both the emotion and numbness of such a sensitive topic. Parents and youth alike should see this film to maybe better understand their family, their friends, and the people around them and most importantly, have the chance to really make a difference.

That shows the effects of bullying and self loathing and what it's like to live in pain and show the true signs of needing help are often hidden. It also shows how many ask for help but get none. This movie is gold and think everyone who lived pain or caused it should watch to either see your not alone and for those who caused pain to show how deeply their words, actions, hate, bullying and violence affect people scaring them forever or leading to suicide. If anyone seems to need help reach out to them and be there for them can make a world of difference... even if you don't know them every act of kindness can make a world of difference.

This feels like a school project somehow ended up being made into a film. The acting is often over-the-top and uncomfortable to watch, and the characters felt cliché and two-dimensional. It is an attempt to deal with the topic of teen suicide, and yet fails at every turn. The dialogue is very stilted and the stories are unoriginal and stereotypical. I ended up skipping some of the slower parts, and I wish I had skipped the whole film. Perhaps this film could have been better if it focussed on the story of just one character, because it tries to cover too many stories and ends up lacking depth. I think they were aiming to look at the different reasons that lead people to consider suicide, but these end up being far too simplistic: one character is transgender with unsupportive religious parents, another is a high-achieving student who is pressured to be 'perfect' by her mother, and another is a jock being bullied by his team. And there's one other character who has barely any screen time, apart from her death in a bathroom stall. These characters are only really seen through their social media presence and their deaths, all of which is overtly performative and disingenuous. I appreciate the idea behind using vlog-style footage, but it is hard to do well and here it ends up feeling so amateur that it just adds to the failures of this movie. When this type of cinematography is combined with bad acting and a bad storyline, not even good intentions can save this film. Another note I will add to this review: the general guidance for films (especially ones aimed at a younger audience, such as this one) is to avoid depicting suicide methods. This guidance is informed by a number of academic studies into the topic. This film shows a number of suicide methods, and although the intention is clearly intended to help people struggling with suicidal thoughts, it could easily have the opposite effect and trigger copycat suicides (known as the Werther effect). I am personally sick and tired of film makers not researching such sensitive topics and continuing to make garbage with a faux-positive message, lazily profiting off the ordeals faced by individuals suffering from poor mental health.

If someone post suicide video, homeland security will take it down for sure. So this movie is quite untrue for first disclaimer but the story of why those suicide is concrete. Good for parents to watch this though.

This was an extremely well done and thought provoking film. As a mother, it shook me to the core. I couldn't stop thinking about all of the subtle and not so subtle ways we can either boost our children up or bring them down in a works that's already difficult to navigate as it is. Suicide is an epidemic in our country and that needs to change. This is a must see!

Poor subject to attempt to make a movie about. Get annoying fast and the first person camera work is straight from a youtube channel. Skipped ahead and ahead and ahead until I reached the ending. Not much I can say. Maybe if you're a teen and need to know how to made a video channel watch this.

A really important film that brings teenage depression and suicide front and center, something that is so often overlooked or not recognized. Stylistically shot with diverse characters that you are sure to connect with. This indie film is a must see!

This movie is so powerful. It is so Beauitful. The message is all light with beautiful performances from the cast. The direction the director takes us through, it almost makes you stop thinking you're watching a movie, and instead you are living through the character's experiences and their journey. I loved this film. Its a MUST SEE for the world, especially right now!
