I just finished watching this movie with my twin and our mom. We're 28 and she's 69, so different generations. We all really enjoyed the movie. I have no idea why there are so many negative reviews! It was a touching romcom that we don't have anymore. We were never bored, the movie wasn't short but flew by. We thought that both Meg Ryan and David Duchovny were fantastic in this. Again, it was just a joy seeing these two doing what they always do! So happy to see Meg Ryan back on the screen too. They were a great pair in this movie. The writing was very good, hence why the movie flew by. Everything felt so natural. The pacing, the acting, the dialogue...etc. Meg Ryan did a fantastic job directing and we really hope she makes more movies. This movie was just so comforting and took us through all different emotions, feelings, and made us reflect. We laughed, we cried, we smiled... Definitely give it a go!

Yes, really, a movie for adults. No explosions, no sex... just two great actors talking. Meg Ryan and David Duchovny do a great job as the only on screen cast actors with dialogue. No sassy precocious child, no mopey teenager, no sassy grandma. Just Willa and Bill talking out what happened years ago in their relationship.
There are certainly details that you just have to buy in on. The coincidence of their meeting, the fact that it is snowing so hard in Bentonville, Arkansas. And during a dance scene late in the movie, Bill's shirt goes from being untucked to tucked in over and over.
And the ending..... it's up to you.

I just came here to laugh at the person who gave the movie a bad rating because "Airport announcements are nothing at all like that".
This is a rom-com, folks. It didn't break any new ground in its story. The two characters, all dialogue, has been done before and in some cases better (Before Sunrise ). The long lost lovers has been done before in some cases better (Before Sunset..lol) . The fantastical theme has been done before, sometimes better, and I won't name them all.
However, this was a good example of all of those, and if you didn't like it, I'd venture to say you are not a fan of those themes in general.
Duchovny did well, but Meg Ryan showed she still owns the rom-com genre. And to all the people who say they had no chemistry; I don't think you paid much attention. No, it was no Ryan/Hanks fare, but if you paid attention the whole point is that they were meant to act awkwardly towards each other for a lot of the movie. Once they finally broke down their walls and addressed their past mistakes and feeling, the characters grew closer and the chemistry came out. Even at the end, they were still unsure of themselves around each other and if there was any possible future.
This movie was fun, and I think both leads did a very good job of doing something difficult in carrying a movie where they were the only two characters, on the screen almost 1005 of the time, in a small setting.

I am honestly very confused at what I just watched. I went into the movie with high expectations as my friend is a huge David Duchovny fan, and I was excited to see what Meg Ryan and David Duchovny could do in a romcom; however, this was the furthest thing from one. At one point, I was grasping at straws trying to find one redeeming quality of this movie, landing on the idea that the the airport was an allegory of purgatory and they were both dead. The whole movie takes place in a fantastical empty airport where they are forever stuck. They interact with the airport PA system aka God throughout the whole movie. After the movie ended, I realized that there was no allegory and that the characters were just stuck at the airport because of a storm.
The dialogue was very nonsensical and felt like two elderly dementia patients rambling on and on. The characters were talking about their past which I thought should have been shown in scenes to at least break apart the monotonous dialogue.
Many of the plot points were confusing as well. Duchovny's character told Ryan's that they broke up because of her personality, and a dramatic piano key was inserted which really took me out of the movie. It felt like a whodunit. About 75% of the way through the movie, Ryan randomly revealed she had a miscarriage. David was also having a reoccurring hearing problem, and he would scream into the ether hoping for the airport music to stop playing cause it was causing his ears to ring. The characters also had the same name which was a little strange, and they kept talking about how magical Leap day is (the day the movie takes place on). Ryan's character did have a limp, but it didn't stop them from performing a dancing scene and then proceeding to ride around in an airport gold cart for about 20 minutes. It went on for so long that the comedy came back around towards the end. I'm not sure if it's because I'm not the intended audience, but I didn't enjoy this movie as much as I wanted to. #disappointed. Recommend seeing the movie with friends!

I loved Meg in her early rom-coms and was excited to see her back on the screen in my favorite genre. "You've Got Mail" and "Sleepless in Seattle" are two of my favs and were my gauge for this movie.
I'm sorry to say I was so disappointed in this movie. It is officially in my top 5 worst films. I still can't believe I sat through that whole time in the theater to listen to 2 people argue (yes, 2 people...the WHOLE cast). Weird narration (was that supposed to be God?). Lots of F-bombs. And those ugly clunky boots that looked like they belonged to her Dad....so weird. I wish I could get the ticket money back.

My wife really wanted to see this movie. She loves both actors so it seemed a no brainer. Ten minutes in I was ready to bolt. Unfortunately we stayed for the whole movie. Upon exit, my wife declared to anybody who could hear her; This Was The Worst Movie I've Ever Seen. I was less complimentary. Don't waste your time seeing this , life is too short. Your time would be better served spitting in the wind. If this doesn't send Meg Ryan back into retirement nothing could. These characters gave you nothing to like them. Tedious boring banter with nothing resolved at the end of this movie. Oh by the way Ducovney wasn't even interested apparently. Throw teenty bucks out your window and count yourself lucky.
