A monkey with a golden rod for a chicken is grilled by a detective. The only thing more inane than the detective's questions were the monkey's responses most of which made no sense. You might as well have filmed Lynch taking a burner of a dump for twenty minutes, that would have been more entertaining.

If you're into a noir aesthetic, a surrealist script, and, yes, a talking, cussing, singing monkey, look no further! What Jack did was perfect.

Dialogue is always pointlessly on the verge of collapse, but never does.

Loved this! The script was hilarious and bizarre, and what a "performance" from the monkey. His anxiety was strangely compelling, and the ending was a perfectly strange conclusion.

The film is a load of tosh but somehow it's charming enough to watch to the end and only feel mildy annoyed

Don't be fooled by this very short film by David Lynch (yes that David Lynch: Twin Peaks, Blue Velvet ), it is a tiny masterpiece and much more complex than it seems. Without spoilers. I will say on the surface if is funny. Second a throw back to film noir. Filmed totally black & white and also with purposeful blips to make it look like old film, you will also hear some lines from the past. David co stars as a detective, and questioning Jack, a white monkey, both seated at a table on a train. Think Alfred Hitchcock, Agatha Christie. There has been a murder. Jack looks nervous and defensive. And then near the end we see the soft side of Jack, he was in love. I watched this twice, first to enjoy it simply for what it is a very well done short with a good laugh and nostalgia. The second watch I realized it was deeper than it seemed. Not easy to rate something like this as there are not other films to compare it to. Lynch is as usual playing us and he holds all the cards. So for what it is, and what I know Lynch intended it to be, it is a 10/10 for me. I just hope he does a sequel.

David Lynch plays a cop who interviews a monkey who killed his wife. Really boring. The monkey sings too. If this had been directed by an unknown director everyone would agree it's garbage. But Lynch has an army of fawning fanboys. I like almost everything by this director, even Rabbits, but this was pretty low effort.

Laughing at this pointless waste of celluloid, not with it. This is the offspring of a kindergardener's rambling, made up short story & a Fellini plot on LSD. I guess some people can read a gum wrapper & contemplate the secrets of the universe, but this short is not esoteric, not avant garde, not deep.....it's just dumb. Someone needs to say the Emporer is not wearing any clothes.

Does this fall under the "What just happened" part of my life?
