If one throws out all the hope and faces the fact that the movie is "bad", one can actually enjoy it. At least I did. To quickly list the main issues: the superficial dialogue writing and the awkward staging, which in turn gives the impression of inept acting (I'd argue that most actors in this film with better material would exhibit better talent), lacklustre general production like lighting, sound design, etc, and etc. Viewers will immediately see / feel that the movie is not top quality, however, I don't think the filmmakers in general were aspiring to win any awards with this project. So, with the elephant out the room, we can discuss the good parts of the film. The ideas and themes displayed (as superficial as they were) are valid and needed in today's society. The main actors had extremely hot chemistry, perhaps, too hot at the very beginning, where the question wasn't if or when are they gonna bang, but rather why are they not yet banging, what's stopping them? The producers? And the actors tried so hard to work with what they've got script wise. Truly the two of them saved the whole thing for me - their relationship and communication was interesting and luring, hopefully from here on out their carriers will get only better. Oh, and Simon as a character is truly magnificent; written by a woman for women and definitely fictional. Ngl, I am considering watching the movie again, I do so love to hate certain things.

I did not even finish this movie which I hardly ever do but I didn't want to waste my time on the boring characters that had no at all. Not even the BFF's were any good. I was not invested in the leads, did not care about if they ended up together or not. Not even the cute cat could not save this movie. I got more involved in looking at the apartment and trying to figure out how she can hear him through the walls when there is a hallway between the apartments. Do not waste your time, there are way better movies out there. I will definitely read the book as other reviews say it is the way to enjoy the story.

I read this book and absolutely loved it. When I found out they were making it a movie I was conflicted because books are generally better than the movie adaptation but watched it...was very sorely disappointed, the acting was smarmy and bad, bad casting choices throughout not like the characters at all so a major bummer. The male, my gosh trying to be sexy especially in the beginning was a cringey creepy turn off. Come on Tosca you can do sooo much better, can't you? If you like romance novels Wallbanger is hilarious, fun and satisfying, this movie/cast leaves a lot to be desired, not sure why the high ratings imho. I DO however highly recommend the BOOK.

I made an account here just to help you decide to skip this movie. Its bad but fails to be bad in an entertaining way, which I was hoping for after the first 5 mins when it's clear it would be bad. The main reason to skip this movie is the love interest. Yes, he's attractive, but I'm not sure he's ever dated someone irl. He continually does the same smarmy face I'm guessing to show he's intrigued or whatever. What even was all that. I really don't like him as a person now. I lasted until 1.5 hours and just had to stop. Who told them this has to be a 2 hour long movie?!? Stop it with the long movies, longer doesn't always mean better. The protagonist was pretty good though, that's why 2 stars instead of 1. I feel like she could be in an actual movie that has a budget and a love interest who knows how to act. The attempt at a subplot with the side characters was silly. Those characters weren't developed even a little, all the ended up doing was making the movie longer. This feels like a movie made by a sophomore in college and some people they don't really like but have to work with for a group project. Please don't watch it. Please, you have so many options. Learn from my mistake. I will regret this 1.5 hour usage for the rest of my life. Please.
