This movie is a medium through which Thay transfers his messages and lessons about life, happiness and suffering to us. You may feel off when you watch it for the first time, but please give it the second, even third time, to see the beauty of mindfulness. It has been proved to save lives, and it continues to save lives. And Thay will be one of the greatest Zen masters of our time that help us suffer less and nourish the happiness and joy in us . Thank you, Thay.

This documentary offers a unique insight into the life in the Plum Village. It also tells us of some beautiful truths as well, such as when the master explains to the little girl where her dog goes after death. Beautiful!

Utterly moving. Beautifully captured through sound and raw cinematography. I loved the ambiguity through the close-ups and snippets into seemingly very different lives and moments in time. This for me reflected the mysterious life we are all experiencing. Coming and going, glimpses of happiness and misery. All at different stages, young and old. Wealthy and poor.
Yet through all of it the calm reminder of our timeless awareness. The monks and master graciously sowing seeds of mindfulness and dharma (the eightfold path). I am beyond grateful and brought to tears at the raw beauty captured in this film. I was seeing & hearing it all; the bell, the trees, ants, sun, smiles, tears; as if for the first time. I can imagine this way of life at Plum Village and how this way is fertile for love and bliss to fruit and be shared through the practice.
I felt the touch and essence of being human and also the soft reminders into the understanding that everything is interconnected. Like the cloud becoming the rain and appearing in our tea cup.
Thank you to all who made this film possible. This is another seed in a world that is in great need of mindful caretakers.

As someone who has been studying buddhism and trying to practice meditation on a regular basis, this film is inspirational. It does not have a typical story line as you may expect from a film; however, there's so much teachings lie beneath every shots, every scene, and every quotes that was selected from The journal. Beautiful.

Tho i didnt know exactly what i signed for when i started watching it. I loved Benedict voice, and the prose of thich
Naht hanh, and the photograph of this movie, i felt a soothing kind of feeling. But even with those things, when it ended, i was kinda left off. Maybe because i was expecting his life or more about him than the centre and practice that he build... it was beautiful, anyways. To watched.

I think I was expecting more from this film than I actually got, which is probably a reflection of why I was drawn to the film, attachment and expectations being the root of suffering and all. :)
Stillness and a very slow development punctuated by a couple memorable nuggets - doggy story (he is not dead - he is just in a new form), you can only enjoy the treasures of the world in the present (the past is gone, the future has not happened), mindful eating - be present with each bite.
I think I personally need to dive more deeply into stillness and contemplation to rate this more highly, but it was an interesting glimpse at what Buddhism really means in practice.

I really like this kind of documentary movie which is filmed seemingly close to their real life. The sound and the quotes are beautiful. The film makes me wanting to know more about Buddhism and the meaning of living.

She is very sad to be away from a loving dog that can not be seen again, the teacher knows that what she wants most now is to see the dog again, how? He mentioned the clouds, when they gradually stopped growing into rain drops and fell to the ground, those drops of rain, it is the water to make tea, when the tea is again met clouds, though. is in the state of water but actually still the clouds of that time :))
