This movie while dark, was really refreshing and had me engaged all the way through. It's not predictable and explores morality, forgiveness, and redemption. I was pretty moved emotionally by the end of it. I just picked this movie randomly on Amazon so don't listen to the negative reviews, easily a 9 in my book.

Some are Indie film fans, some are not-this is above average in Indie world with some shiny acting scenes delivered by actors that with the right direction and production will have their due eventually. Like most Indie films or subtitled you gotta hang in there & work your mind to enjoy it, the blockbuster aspect isn't there to do it for you. Not to be confused with campy B films, Indie movies most times have a crusade or a cause, deliberately multi-dimensional characters; this story being no exception. Worth a watch in the sea of garbage 2020 has exuded. If you're wondering where you have seen the main fella here-he's played a bartender on This Is Us...

My subject refers to the majority of the early reviews, many who have likely have been a part of the film, know the cast or dropped byarketers. The more honest reviewers probably have seen the film on Amazon prime. This looks sounds, and is scripted by students, including some of the actors. If the f-bomb is something your squeamish about, then this 90 minute expedition is really not for you. I really appreciate the effort here and some of the players made the most of their very small parts. It may be partly the responsibility of the script, hard to tell, but the lead actor is not convincing at times and you can see or sense the effort at acting.
What starts off as awkward but willing to give a chance did into an unrealistic place. Skip to the end. You may not be sure whether to laugh or to cry. I just didn't buy the script and especially not the ending.

I was vaguely searching for a thriller and this came up. The film starts slow and I almost stopped watching it. It even got a bit cringey but, surprisingly, once Tilley (Danika Golombek) the film went to another level.
Tom E. Nicholson's acting is quite impressive, as others have noted. But for me, it was the presence of Golombek that has me continuing to think about this film - and wanting to see more from her. Hopefully this impressive performance will bring her more roles, which I will look forward to seeing.

Very, very well done. Accurate, realistic parts, brutal story line. Raw.

Excellent film. I was rooting for the main character throughout the movie. The actor that played the main character was spot on. He did a fantastic job. Interesting story about dark themes. I would have preferred a different ending.

I've never written a review before, but this really moved me. The main character/guy brings this awkwardness and honesty to every scene in the film. He, and the entire town really, are kind of pathetic, dark and dry in an unexpected way. I don't know much about film. But I feel like if a film can draw me in with basically 2 actors, zero cinematography, and no typical movie drama (I don't think anyone even raises their voice for the duration), that's amazing. Just this tragic piece of human experience. And yes previous reviewer below me, it's totally realistic. The undamaged no nothing of what the traumatized will adopt as the norm. If you have a brain and don't require explosions to be entertained, you will love it.

This is not a typical comic book blockbusters. This is a deep dive into it's characters. It's a move for people who like substance.

Wade in the Water is unique for an indie movie because it's a bit of a character study. I've been binging on a ton of indies, and they have a hard time with this kind of movie or at least doing it this well. The crux of the story is that the protagonist finds purpose after accidentally finding a secret none of us ever want to ever see. Tom E. Nicholson, who plays the lead, is in every scene and is mesmerizing to watch. He's an angry character that starts to grow on you. You get and understand his daily frustration. There is a little of him (or a lot) in all of us. Excellent watch.
