I was not expecting very much from this movie and I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed it. Don't get me wrong this movie has its flaws. The plot while not bad is fairly predictable for anyone who has spent time watching police procedural shows. Many of the characters in the film also suffer from being cookie cutter clichés with about as much depth as a puddle. You know the crooked cop who is so bad he might as well be a cartoon character. However the movie moved along at a decent pace and the dialog was enjoyable, i even found myself laughing more than I thought I would. I imagine that fans of the t.v. series will enjoy this film more than I did. If you are not a fan of the t.v. series and you go in with moderate expectations you will enjoy it.

This is a first: An unusual number of five star ratings at a rate that surpasses all the Academy Award (Oscars) nominated movies put together. The reason: A large number of people are making sure their Kickstarter funding for this movie proves rewarding. The movie: Simplistic dialogue that could only come from a cliché saturated Hollywood high school apprentice writer. Acting so bad the actors could manage only one short emotionless line then pause for the next actor to robotically respond in kind; back and tediously back and forth. Scenes composed of 95% dumbed down dialogue. Other 5% of scenes composed of a superficial attempt to appear current e.g. tablets, internet video, Samsung product placement phones. Lot of formula characters e.g. dumb act cool cops; surfer dude; party hangers; lawyers; etc. Baddd: How bad? I was ff after 10 minutes and checking it every 10 to see if anything changed. Answer - as blandly homogenized as milk. People! For the honest reviewers not financially invested in this movie; if you want to see quality acting, storyline, sets, props and actually have to think, then watch "The Best Offer". It may cleanse you of the effects of this film's shallow banality.

First of I used to love watching the veronica mars show, it was totally OK afternoon entertainment, so I was kind of enthusiastic when I heard they were making a movie of the show. But now that I've seen it the finished work, I'm glad I didn't help crowd fund it. The on screen chemistry between the characters and the audience is gone(at least for me), and most of the acting felt forced. I kind of got the impression, that the actors had started asking them self if this movie really was such a good idea? There were no real sense of mystery in the movie, you knew right off the bat who the suspects were, and that they were guilty. Also there was no feeling of urgency or that Logan was about to get thrown in jail. It just felt like a really long episode with no highlights. I didn't get any sympathy for the characters. Someone you don't know squat about dies and Logan is blamed The whole thing with Logan being a marine pilot(he states him self that he is/was in the jag corps in the movie, but later they talk about him flying planes). Doesn't seem believable at all It seem like they have tried really hard, to come up with the most unlikely career choices they could find. Also what happened to the sassy tomboyish Veronica mars? Her * has definitely gotten bigger, and everything she walks around in, is mostly glued to her body. ******warning spoilers**** Also the whole Logan and Veronica romance just felt really old and used up. They were to much on and off in the series, so using the same cliché over again just felt cheep. In the show Logan was a useful side character and love interest for Veronica, mostly, because he's family was part of the key to the big mystery about her best friend death. But in the movie, they haven't really given him enough meat on the bone to work with, so he mostly walks around, as the usually sullen looking spoiled rich kid, we used to know in the series. The whole blast from the past: "I need your help veronica", phone call, was a bit too stupid for me to swallow. The guy is the richest person in Neptune, yet he gonna hire and ex girlfriend to investigate if he is guilty in the murder he is being accused of? C'mon how dumb do you think the fans are? They're showing all their cards right there. And a suspected murderer and paparazzi target, would not likely show up in the airport, in the screaming white dress uniform of the marine corps, and at the same time trying to avoid the attention of the paparazzi, those two things just don't match. All in all It just felt like a 120min episode with out any highlights

I watched Veronica Mars because of all the good ratings for the movie and even the series but I never watched the series. What did I expect? I don't know for sure. I thought it would be a fun and suspenseful movie. But this movie is a total waste of time. There is no development of tension. I fell asleep 2 times because nothing happens in the plot. Kristen Bell was great in Frozen but in real-life movies she can't get over her "the little girl from the neighborhood" image in my opinion. Her acting is kind of wooden. I can't understand all the good ratings. It felt like watching a German Tatort, always boring and predictable.

Veronica Mars Okay, Veronica Mars. since the last Sherlock Holmes movie I haven't seen any decent crime flick and from the comments on IMDb's "In Theaters" page I decided to give this one a look at. The story follows the bright young private investigator Veronica Mars from Neptune California who has an impressive resume and has landed a position in a New York law firm as a future lawyer. Yet one day she sees one of her old high school classmate Carrie, who is now a celebrity named Bonnie, murdered. Not for long, Logan, Bonnie's couple from their same school, called her for help to clear his name from the murder case. Veronica then flew back to Neptune, California to help Logan. and as the investigation continues, she uncovers a secret of their friends about another girl who died quite a long time ago. There's quite a buzz over this movie because of people's expectations associated with the TV series, which don't really get to Indonesia where i live. That got me curious. But now, I don't think I really dig the movie. For me the base story is quite absurd, despite the lead character's background nice setup. The twists are relatively quite easy to guess and doesn't really keep you on the edge of your seat. Also there are loose ends that, being not resolved until the end of the movie, become irritatingly stupid, such as the link between the deputy who come to meet Veronica's father to the rest of the story, and the identity of the person and his/her reason for trying to kill Veronica's father. The acting is quite okay overall. Well I didn't really expect much out of a movie based on lowly rated TV show. There are some nice costumes fashionable enough on the Veronica character. The soundtrack and music is just merely being there, not being a good part or a bad part. The addition of action in the final parts of the movie precisely did the opposite of doing good to the movie. It does well is portraying Veronica's ability to retain her insights and clear thinking despite the panicky situation. Yet after the whole duration of dramas, talks, corny jokes, and cynicism, it just makes the movie seem stupid. Overall, a 4 out of 10 is from me, and I definitely don't recommend you to see it. It wasn't executed well. Might as well go for another title in the cinemas.

This movie was not worth renting for a dollar. I would not watch this movie if it was free on TV. Unfortunately, I did rent it on Redbox after seeing the high rating. Only watched 45 minutes of movie before giving up on it. I kept hoping it would improve but sadly the dialog was stiff and lacking in creativity. I never watched the TV series. Actually, I didn't know there was a TV series until read more reviews and understood that the ratings are artificially propped up by core fans for the TV show and not reflective of a larger audience who might stumble upon this drivel. This film seemed aimed at late teens & twenty somethings. Acting was sub-par. I just did not ever feel drawn into the plot or story. The main character is annoying and her struggle to not return to her previous life seemed overplayed. If you are not a TV fan, do not see this movie.

Watched this movie after having been dimly aware of the TV series and seeing the high IMDb score. I can understand how a fan of the show could rate this movie or how a teenage/twenty-something girl could enjoy it, however it has little appeal for the rest of us.It plays like a under-thought TV movie with too blatant product placement and the performers don't strengthen its claim(except for the eponymous hero). The whole kickstarter thing is an interesting concept and the fan-base probably got the movie they deserved. p.s the the fans should have called themselves Martians not Marshmallows.

Excuse the use of the Sade song title, but it really sums up my feelings about this film. I wanted to like it, I really did. I liked the TV show, and even contributed to the Kickstarter campaign. I'm not sure what I expected, but what we got was basically a 2 hour TV reunion show (2 hours if you had commercials, the film is only 105 minutes). In 10 years, the residents of Jupiter have gotten older, but not smarter or wiser. And, sadly, even though all of the actors expressed great enthusiasm for the project, they all seem a little tired. They're happy for the pay checks, but in the end, they are rehashing the same characters, with the same emotions and the same actions as 10 years ago. Kristen Bell always brought that world-weary sense of cynicism to Veronica Mars, even when she was playing a high school detective. Now she just seems weary. I would much rather watch her in 'House of Lies', where that more grown up cynicism shines. Bottom line is we should all have just moved on, and let our memories of the TV show remain intact. This was not an elegant ending of a good show, but a sad reminder of what we once liked and enjoyed.

Was it just me that didn't like the Veronica Mars Movie? It felt like a shadow of the show I fell in love with. From the beginning the humor wasn't there for me, Veronica was pleasant at most and the only character that felt real was Keith Mars, with his fatherly charm still intact. The fact that Veronica Mars had decided to be a lawyer, was just too out of character, they made like she became the vanilla version of herself for nine years, just to build her back up by the end of the movie. Perhaps what bothered me the most, was that it was just too boring, it didn't feel like a movie, but one long-drawn-out episode. It could have been a new beginning instead of a two hour nod to the past, and there were a lot of nods. The "mystery" was laughable and highly predictable, there was no sense of danger or urgency through out the movie, even close to the end when some kind of dangerous things happen. As for the romance, well, it was equally laughable and sad, not in good way. Maybe I'm a marshmallow that just passed its point in the fire, but this movie was not for me, which is a shame, because Veronica Mars is one of my favorite characters of all time and will continue to be, just not in this movie.

I really wanted to like this movie. I've never seen the t.v. show but I love Kristen Bell and this genre of film. However, I was sorely disappointed. Before I list the reasons why, let me tell you the one redeeming quality of the show. Veronica Mars is amazing. I love the character, I love her personality, I loved (most) of her dialogue. She's so snappy and witty and unflappable! Now, here are some of the reasons why I didn't like it: 1) The Writing: This did not feel like a movie. It felt like a 2 hour long t.v. show. Although there were some lines of dialogue I really liked, a lot of the dialogue was very clunky. Many of the scenes had an amateurish feel to them, too. 2) The Characters: For someone who has never seen the show there were too many characters and they were not developed properly. I really was not made to care about the relationships Veronica was supposed to have with the other characters. The filmmakers relied on the show to do that. This was a mistake in my opinion because the movie should be made with a much wider audience in mind than just the show watchers. 3) The Plot: The movie begins with a murder of someone I don't know and don't care about. Veronica goes to help someone I don't know and don't care about. There's also references to the disappearance of someone I don't know and don't care about. I have a hard time caring about the plot when I have not been made to care about who is involved in it. I have to say that I found myself somewhat bored at times just hoping that this movie would eventually rope me in and make me care about what was going on. I'm sure the t.v. show did a great job of doing that, but ultimately, those of us who never saw it were left out in the cold.
