This is not a movie i usually would have seen, but after seeing Dakota Fanning in the Sci-Fi Channel miniseries Taken, i decided to see her in Uptown Girls. The movie isn't bad at all, especially considering it's a girl-type of movie, and i'm a guy. But it was an enjoyable movie, nothing great or epic, but something that's just fun to watch. Brittany Murphy was pretty good in it, but Dakota Fanning was the best. It's worth a rent :)

The movie was cute. Not great, cute. We are introduced to Molly, an immature, 22 year old with a passion for life and an eye for beauty. Then, (and a little too soon into the flick), Ray a precocious 8 year old going on 40 with serious germ phobia. When Molly takes her nannying job, she discovers the two worlds, that seem different are really very similar. Molly lost her parents at a considerably young age, and Ray is growing up with a neglectful mother and vegetable father. Even though the two seem to be at odds all the time, they actually develop a great friendship,which is sappy and expected from this type of movie. I won't give out any spoilers, but I will mention this (for a little girls movie, they sure do talk about sex alot). I was also surprised that they didn't use the song "Uptown Girl" which 'I' thought the movie derived from! :)
