Vince Vaughn has a long history of playing the lovable loser, and quite frankly he does it well. He's non-threatening, not charismatic enough to be overbearing and has his moments. Here he plays the same character doing the best by his friends and family and (Insert generic Hollywood plot here) By that you may think I didn't enjoy Unfinished Business and that wouldn't be accurate. The problem with Unfinished Business is that its so very very extra-ordinarily cookie cutter. Namely you will know exactly whats coming next and will bring nothing to the table that you haven't seen before......and done better.
Unfinished Business is harmless, Tom Wilkinson is great as always and equally so Dave Franco plays his usual heartbreakingly annoying role.
There are laughs to be had including solid out loud ones for me but the whole thing feels very played out and luck luster.
This is fine as a crash out with the other half when there is nothing better on the box-esque movie, but to go out of your way and watch it? You can do a great deal better.

An enjoyable comedy about a small business owner trying to finally secure a business deal that has been years in the making. Think of "Jerry Maguire" meets "Road Trip". But don't fuss too much about the plot, just keep in mind this is a comedy and not some complicated drama and you will enjoy the movie for what it is.
Ever since his role in "Swingers", Vince Vaughn fans have been craving for essentially more of the same. Vince has delivered nicely and this is the Vince Vaughn fans have been hoping for.
Overall, this is a good light film to go watch and have a few laughs with your friends or even take a date too.

Spoiler alert (although I doubt anyone will see this bomb). This movie is filled with more filth than an impacted colon. Two fullscreen, * simulated sex scenes. Multiple gratuitous topless scenes. Constant drug and alcohol use. Very descriptive discussions of sex acts. Phone sex. An extended scene at a gay leather convention including a bathroom scene with glory holes through which men stick their penises hoping to be fellated by a stranger. I'm not kidding. And you get to see it all including the penises.
At this point I doubt that Vince Vaughn is capable of feeling shame, but he should. This thing has no real plot - just multiple opportunities for sex, nudity and dirty jokes draped on a flimsy story of his pursuit of one business deal. The worst aspect of the movie is the equating of bullying his overweight son receives in school to Vince's humiliation at the hands of some of his supposed business partners.
Vince's character has an eight year old daughter with whom, while Skyping, he uses the same filthy language that is constant throughout the movie. It occurred to me that this child actor would not be allowed to see this filthy movie in which she appears!
There has been plenty of press lately about Vaughn's supposed conservative worldview. Nothing could be further from the truth. Vaughn is a libertarian, not a conservative. His worldview has zero moral standards and this "anything goes" point of view is on sickening, puerile display in "Unfinished Business".

This is the worst trash I have ever seen in my life.
I went to see it because of Vince Vaughan and Tom Wilkinson. I thought nothing could go wrong with such 2 capacities. Boy was I wrong.
Nothing wrong with their performances as such, but they really should be more choosy with their material.
As for the humor in the film - not once did I crack a smile. I was disgusted! Quality is a Word I would not use in connection with this film. Is this what American viewers find funny? Almost all the "funny" stuff was below the waist; not funny at all, but just embarrassing.
I suppose you have to be around 12 years old to enjoy this film!

Yeah, I went ahead and gave it 7 out of 10. I was torn between a 7 or a 6, but I really did enjoy the movie. It made me laugh enough, for sure, and while the story isn't going to win any Academy Awards for originality, the actors did a good job with what they had to work with. The problem I had with this movie is that it tried to be two things at once, and it never really did make up its mind either way. For the most part, it's a lot of crude, rude humor and crazy sex/blatant nudity, but for some reason amidst all of that, the writer(s) keep trying to pull at our heart strings with the Vince Vaughn character's kids having bullying problems at school. Granted, bullying is a pretty hot topic button these days, but I don't really think that a German bath house, wheelbarrow sex in hotel rooms, and a gay * club in Berlin is really the platform from which you want to preach it. This movie would have been a lot better if they had picked one genre or the other and just stuck with it. Other than that, this movie isn't really all that bad. Nowhere nearly as bad as The Watch. Some good laughs, the naked people are pretty attractive, and Tom Wilkinson (who ISN'T naked in this film, thank goodness) is refreshingly funny in a rare comedic turn.

Um . . . where to start. The plot is basically three guys going to Europe to close a business deal. That's it. If the events surrounding the deal were entertaining and fun to watch, I would have no problem. Unfortunately, this film fails on every conceivable level to make it entertaining and distract from having such a thin plot.
Not a single joke worked. Not the hamster ball scene, not the sauna scene, and not the bathroom scene. I could actually feel physical pain due to how cringe worthy and unfunny the gags were.
None of the characters were funny, likable, or relatable. I usually enjoy Vince Vaughns portrayal as the working man, but in this film he comes across as weird and sexist (spoiler alert: there's a scene where they force you to look at his anus :/). The two other main characters are a man who makes fun of the mentally handicapped, and a dirty old man.
What was the mindset here; why did anybody would sign on to make this movie!?! I am really concerned for Vince Vaughns career and the career of everyone else in this movie after watching this. The kid actors did a good job, Its too bad they were forced to say such insipid dialog. I have watched many bad comedies from Master of Disguise to Jack and Jill, but none of these were nearly as mean spirited, crude and unfunny as this movie is! Please don't waste time watching this!

This movie is superficial. The jokes are marginally funny. There were * scenes. The plot is somewhat predictable, a story of a underdog who eventually pulled it off with persistency and heart despite numeral setbacks. However, I for one can relate to the characters, a lot. I watched the movie on HBO on a Friday night after a long day of work as a small business owner. On this day, I bid on a project of a client who really likes our work but seldom gives projects because of our small size. Later I was told that another client was not happy with the frequency of our communication - a large company's VPs have meeting with her on a daily basis. With about a million things to take care of everyday, I can't imagine to have time to call her everyday just to chat. If you have struggles as a small business owner, which I am sure each has, you will like this movie because you feel that the main character is part of you. You try so hard for your family and your employees, whose livelihood depend on you. So the movie struck me on a day filled with some success and some setback at the same time, a typical day of my life. Who can't say that's not how life is no matter what you do. So the spirit of the character is contagious, and can struck you deep. The movie appears to be superficial. But when you think about it, and relate it to your life, it is not that superficial. In fact, it provoked some deep emotions.

Vince Vaughn is a real self made hard working actor, as such it is the best of rights to let himself be guided a 100% from professional producers directors and writers. This observation falls into the eye, especially watching this movie, because one can see how talent and humoristic genius can be efficiently and completely eliminated by the lack of such guidance. There is basically no joke that is not predictable, actually so early so predictable that seeing the rest of the joke played out, actually hurts. Joke-wise apart are only such marginalizing things like: i cant even be with the emo-kids: those that are that way because they are not popular (!!!) - which is just one example of a long row of prejudice against all kinds of people, cultures and languages that alternate with conversations that can only be described as "non-existing". The good thing: will spare most probably future cinematography from another member of the francos, or: I would like to to see the movie that can repair that reputation .

I read some of the reviews on the film "Not funny" or "Waste of time" Really? I'm sorry but this was a fantastically put together film & I don't want many films so I was a bit apprehensive about watching this but its just class its unpredictable its new its a breathe of fresh air BUT it is not for kids so remember that please, the film industry is out of breathe as "everything has been done" & don't to the extreme but this was something else it was really funny the only issue I would have that was a real let down and it seems its happening a lot is when they where in Germany driving and you could "Clearly" see that they wasn't in that car it was a scene behind them this is cheap and put a bad taste in my mouth apart from that yeah deffo go for it.
