This film was alright truth be told, if you have read other reviews on IMDb then you'll see a lot of criticism towards plot holes, continuity issues and a sometimes jumbled jumping story. Two brothers who are menaced by a monster under the bed during the night and have to endure their constantly angry dad during the day. Unable to prove the monsters existence everyone doubts them as crazies until the two worlds meet. This wasn't a spectacular movie by any accounts but it was okay, you did get a sense of something lurking in the shadows constantly but you also got the feel good 'us VS the world' feel as you follow the two brothers throughout their plight. All the action came in the last half an hour of the film. The monster manages to escape and wreak havoc and boys have fight it. While the acting is a bit wooden at times (not all the time, don't get me wrong) I liked that there was no CGI in this film, just old-school effects and man in monster suit. Give it a go but expect a slow burner which feels creepy at times. It's not 100% original but does offer some nice twists to keep it from being the same old boring 'monster under the bed' story as other titles.

I've seen several reviews of this work, and was shocked by the negative commentary. I found this movie to be a lot of fun, entertaining, engaging and ultimately really delivered the scares. This film has some of the cliché horror staples (ie. unbelieving parents, distracted, persecuted anti-hero-type..etc)but is legitimately able to build on them and do something original with them. This film is NOT for you if you are of the instant gratification/jump-scare mindset (which I absolutely hate). This film actually takes time to develop it's protagonist and supporting cast with enough depth, quirk and humor to actually make the viewer care what happens to them (even the people you may not initially like!). The film's ultimate selling point as a great little unsung feature, is its ability to be OK with NOT answering some of the pressing questions. It does so without leaving the viewer unsatisfied; better yet,it avoids answering the questions posed, but stupidly or cliché. I like and find the most intrigue/fear from features that leave you uncertain, but in an intelligent, realistic way. Incidentally, Gattlin Griffith as our hero Neal's younger brother Paulie has some real scene stealers and does a great and believable job of playing side-kick to Neal's anti-hero. All in all, I found this movie thoroughly entertaining, pretty much from the start and would recommend this for fans of the horror film genre. It's a slow but effective burn to the bloody, violent confrontation with hellish monstrosity that lives Under the Bed. Cheers!

While people are VERY and i mean VERY picky on horror. Just like the movie hole which i saw it for 20 mins and i went and bought it at walmart! This i want too, for most movies i am a little picky in sense of types of horror i like, many i not into like serial killers, just like some nutjob goes out and kills people, they may live at end creating a sequel its like yeah yeah.... Boring . Take this movie, got a kid that to me anyway looks like a 19 year old version of Ponyboy from The Outsiders if look in the face and Ponyboys face when blonde hair and talking about nothing stays gold. Really looks very simular, through not him at all. Two brothers tormented by a creature under the bed, the fog, the creepy arms grabbing him at times, their in their face when trying to sleep. Afraid it will get them. The killing scenes are so awesome the head breaking of the one kid through not sure if the rest died, i think the girl said they did. The angry, bitter, but still love him dad burning like in acid, and the way the head was ripping out. They know if they told them or so the parents or people wouldn't believe them. Add that and the grabbing the slow but steady of them trying to kill the thing, figure out what it is, or any signs of stopping it. While doing best to endure the mindset that their dad and their step mom thinks their nuts. The laundry room scene was cool the way it shows up in the dark. TO me thats cool and the Hole was fun, great cast funny, clever so its like it but to a different direction. I don't know about you but i like movies a little unique and slows it down but also same time, keeps it steady with it. I understood it all, just somethings like how does it get out of the bed if it never had before. That and why is it only picking on the two boys, and never went after them before, but i just say oh well a few questions but still a great movie, and i will buy it and i only like to buy movies i like. I saw 20 mins of hole i loved it i bought it took a risk on the ending. I like this soon id get it. 8/10

WHat else can I say but it is super enjoyable. I am not sure why the low score. Most likely the high and mighty audience. It is a throwback to some really good 80's horror. It is reminiscent of those great horrors where kids were kid and acted like kids. The kids in the movie are very relateable sort of like the children in the Goonies or ET. The title of the movie is the plot but are all the kids crazy? Is it in their heads? Who knows, you must watch to find out. I highly recommend giving this a watch. I will give it an 8 to a 9 out of 10. Are there plot holes possibly. But does it stop the fun and enjoyment....no! Highly recommended.

This movie is way under-rated. The monster in this movie is awesome, first off, it's one of the better (if not best) original monster creations in recent horror movies. What's more is this movie remembers a time when a monster could be set up, through darkness and shadow play. Teased at, only to be revealed in the climax of the film. It's an art that has been forgotten by most in the genre. And this movie knows how to use gore without overusing it, another balancing act long forgotten. There were a few things that didn't make sense, the biggest being what the dad is so mad about through the whole movie. The only reason for this (plot-wise) being that he pushes the children into confronting the monster. We don't really get any sense of the motivation of the monster, but what are you gonna do? Sit down and try to ask him why he wants to eat you? We all know the tropes that are widely used to explain back-story in these films, but this movie sidesteps those, and I don't find it that detrimental to the film as a whole. Overall, this movie isn't a masterpiece, but it's worth watching with a bag of popcorn.

well, that happened. it wasn't supposed to be funny, but it did. i laughed my ass off so hard i fell from my chair. this movie is ridiculous and not in a good way. this movie turned out to be a big fat joke. the story line beyond boredom, unnecessary scenes, sound effects that "supposedly" scared the viewers just so not right. i had to fast forward just to get through the end of the movie. bottom line, if you're thinking of watching it, just save your time and watch other good movies. i rarely agree with other people's comments but even i had to agree that this movie is just plain suck. i bet my 10 year old sister wouldn't made it past 30 minutes watching this movie due to boredom.

If I could put zero stars I would. Dear Mr Director, What you just made, is the most insanely idiotic thing I've ever seen, at no point in your rambling coherent movie even close to anything that would be considered a rational thought everyone that watch this movie is now dumber for watching it... I award you no points and God have mercy on your soul. Don't do drugs. I like turtles

It is my admiration and fascination with the horror genre that drove me to pick up "Under the Bed" and sit down to watch it, especially since I didn't know what the movie was about or who starred in it. All that I had seen was the movie cover, and it was more than enough to get my attention. It turned out that "Under the Bed" had a rather interesting and entertaining storyline. I had initially thought that given the title of the movie that it could be a cheesy horror movie, but I was glad to be proved wrong. The storyline here was rather good, and director Steven C. Miller and writer Eric Stolze had managed to put together a clever storyline and one that kept the audience in the dark - literally. The movie was actually genuinely creepy, and director Steven C. Miller did a great job in building up the suspense and the dread throughout the course of the movie. And the climax when the creature was finally revealed was actually quite satisfactory. "Under the Bed" had some good acting performances, and Jonny Weston (playing Neal) and Gattlin Griffith (playing Paulie) actually carried the movie quite nicely. The creature in this movie was rather interesting, and it was of good design and concept idea. It was a creature that was somewhat frightening and pitiful at the same time. Sure, it was not a creature design that revolutionized the horror genre in any way. I found "Under the Bed" to be an entertaining movie and it was a good addition to the horror genre.
