If you like misery just because of misery, then you might like this movie. But I hated it and stopped watching after 40 minutes. What's the point of this swearing all the time? In each sentence the word * is used numerous times. I don't care if this is realistic, it's just plain silly and boring. The scenery and the photography is also not impressing at all. Everything is ugly in this world. I don't mind ugly things, in fact I can enjoy them but please balance them with beauty. But that's something the English don't understand, they like to loose themselves in their own depressing environment. The more you suffer, the better. And this stupid woman who lets herself verbally abuse in her poor shop...oh come on, kick that bastard out!
An old fashioned Christian view on life, I can't believe this is produced in 2011?

Man, saying Tyrannosaur is not a happy movie is quite an understatement. The main character is a rude and unlikeable man who beat and mistreated his overweight wife (the titular Tyrannosaur, she's dead), has an extremely hostile attitude towards his environment and to top it off is a raging alcoholic. He comes across a religious upper-class woman who turns out to have some problems of her own. The film has a very bleak color palette matching the bleak outlook on life of most people in this story. Though I would not really recommend this movie as a must see, I do have to say that it is well made and acted for what it is. But what it is, is a dark depressing film about people living on the edge of society who have a different state of mind than average Joe. Still a better watch than most American Comedies these days.

Tyrannosaur is hard to watch. But it's a perfect film. Olivia Colman was robbed of a BAFTA Nomination, which she would have won, and of an Academy Award nomination, for best actress, which she also would have won. To put it frankly, Colman's performance id one of the best performances I've ever seen by an actor, male or female. She's so honest, vulnerable, and like-able. She'll make you weep. Peter Mullan is also tremendous, another actor robbed of a BAFTA and Academy Award nomination. Considne's script is smart, emotional, brutal, and honest, as is his direction. Tyrannosaur is so good, It's better than Dead Man's Shoes and Saving Private Ryan. 10 out of 10.

The simplicity of the plot reminds us of the fact that modern filmmakers are not entirely bound by the notion of Hollywood narrative and the necessity to produce money. The film was incredibly refreshing and a joy to watch as it was probably the first among the films I've watched this year that gave me this impression. Peter Mullan was magnificent playing an emotionally unstable hot headed drunk. Mullan's acting is reminiscent of Jeff Bridges Oscar winning role on 'Crazy Heart'. Paddy Considine's debut masterwork was one of the greatest I've seen which is probably at par with other modern filmmakers such as the Coens and Aronofsky. Incredible music score as well as very interesting cinematography. I'd file this film among the top for this year and would highly anticipate Considine's subsequent works.

Paddy Considine's directorial debut stars Peter Mullan as a violent, hard-drinking widower who cannot control his extremely self-destructive outbursts of violent anger. He meets Olivia Colman who works at a Christian charity shop, and her influence seems to calm him ... somewhat. Colman is far from stable herself, as she has been trying to deal with her husband Eddie Marsan's increasingly bizarre, violent and unstable behavior. This is a bleak film. It establishes just how bleak it is in the first few minutes probably shedding most viewers with an incredibly unfair and heartbreaking burst of violence. It's an incredibly rewarding film though featuring three of the bravest, most deeply committed performances I have seen in quite some time. It ultimately involves change, but very slight change offering a really small degree of uplift.

One of the better dramas I've seen in past decade. Didn't get the attention it deserved, I stumbled on it by accident 10 years ago and everyone I've recommended it to has also enjoyed it and hadn't heard of it before either. Really good acting and just heart wrenching.

Plot: extremely good. Yes, it debates a very delicate topic and it's always hard to take this burden, but it is a must. Everyone has to think about it. Especially men.
Actors and Actress & Acting: a masterpiece from bot of the man characters. They don't did well, they did a flawless job.
Conclusions: a must for everyone. Turn on your mind and think about this, think about this kind of situations. Try to depict yourself in their situation.

The film starts out with a man coming out of a bar.
He is swearing a lot and not just any words. He Keeps say Fu__K and swearing at everyone. It appears he got kicked out of the bar.
This all starts in a few seconds of the film.
I do not believe any one that wants to promoted redemption in a movie would have this kind of language and it the maker got awards for it, the people that gave it to them are nuts.
I have seen a number of films one called The Encounter. There is nothing like the filthy, language film.
Forget about it don't watch it, it is offensive.

This is a very essential telling of a simple, minimal, yet rich story of broken people, desperate, lone people in search of salvation. I found this powerful, stunning and believable. Both Joseph and Hannah come across as entirely true people, actually if you live in Britain you have surely met them around. The same goes for the boy, and I'd say also for the the boy's mum's awful boyfriend and his mates. Found the husband character is secondary, and therefore less well developed. Yet, I believe that Eddie Marsan can bring to life any character, no matter how short the screen time. For me this is a must watch. Very well done to Paddy Considine.
