Technically this short is very well made but that is to be expected from something Netflix is attached too. The challenging part that comes with this review is the message of the short. Many people view these messages very strongly and will fight for them no matter the quality of the flick as long as it has the message. I believe the message in the short is extremely important and meaningful but the way it was illustrated on the screen was very poor. The worst part about this film was the writing. The first 10 minutes were great but it slowly began getting more and more unrealistic and laughable for example the scene after Joey is driven home (you know if you know). This film really could have shined if it had a good writer attached that was capable of writing real compelling scenes with logic behind them. Also this short film basically copied a YouTube short posted 4 years ago titled Groundhog Day For a Black Man. I don't really believe it should have been nominated for best short but maybe the academy didn't have a lot of entires due to COVID.

Loved the message it was trying to get across; and it's not an exaggeration like some say-this does happen on a daily basis unfortunately and specifics to minorities. I was hoping for a happy ending, like when they actually talked and understood each other but let's be honest that's usually not how life goes and that's probably the point of the movie.

This movie was just created to get more people to hate cops and thats it then at the end for people who just want to use racism as an excuse for any police situation dont notice that the cop is not actually a cop he is the one repeating the day.
Also nobody will ever see any cop act like this in real life.

Groundhog Day but this time with racism. No point in this " film". We are a long way away from the days of Epics that ruled the silver screen. Just another way for corporations to make you feel like they care about you.

The film tells the story of a man who wakes up one day and is killed by a police officer. He then has to relive that same day again and again. The only reason for getting killed is the colour of his skin. This is Groundhog Day for grown-ups, full of symbolism and meaning. It is beautifully shot and I can totally see why it is nominated for an Oscar. Well worth my time.

Wow I'm shocked with the amount of bad comments about this movie. It's simple, straight forward and it shows what happens in America when you're a black person. Don't give me that shallow argument of "not all white cops are like that". This is not what is being discussed. We are discussing systemic racism which means that we have systems and institutions that produce racially disparate outcomes, regardless of the intentions of the people who work within them.

Boring, full of itself, acts like it has a message when it's actually really empty.
