Just a fun and funny movie, if this crazy film doesn't make you chuckle you need to watch it again.... Movies like this are always better a second or third time, just like all cult classics. My wife and I found this on accident along time ago and it's been one of our favorites.

Pay close attention to other negative reviews on IMDB because I think they are all basically right. I've watched this movie every Christmas off and on for many Years. So basically this movie is not remotely funny or even a good story. I think they tried to fit too much into the film. I headlined a "saving grace" and that was not a fib. Other than the change-of-heart narrative similar to "The Grinch that Stole Christmas" this movie is not remotely derivative. It's original for the most part, although the "going to a small town for Christmas" is a hallmark of most recent made for TV Hallmark Christmas movies. Still it's similarities are superficial at worst. I'll conclude with this: if you are tired of the same Christmas movies year after year "Trapped in Paradise" might, at least, and I mean AT LEAST, be a nice change of pace.

None of them recognize that the brothers are the robbers. The criminal who had the original idea to rob the bank finds out. The FBI led by agent Shaddus Peyser (Richard Jenkins) are also looking for them. They keep failing to get away while the people in town are all so very nice. Dana Carvey has that annoying voice and face. He is stupid in a hateful way. Jon Lovitz is slightly better by comparison. Nicolas Cage is angry and with good reasons. The three brother are so annoying that there are unlikeable. They are unfunny. And the jokes fall flat. The big chase isn't anything fun. It is generally boring and most of the blame has to be laid at writer/director George Gallo's feet.

This movie is just silly. I watched it because of the cast.. how could this go wrong? Well let me tell you. Nicholas Cage is too angry, Dana Carvey is doing a comical NY Mickey Rouke impression (pope of Greenwich village) with some weird puffy face and John lovitz.. you forget he is even in this movie thats how forgettable he is. No wonder I never heard of this movie, nobody EVER should. I dont think I even chuckled once. Another movie similar to this is "the ref" burglar goes to small town for a heist and tries to escape all during christmas, much funnier. Avoid this if possible.

I'm sure "Trapped In Paradise" was MEANT to be a full fledged comedy, and WANTED to have a heart-warming message to it... perhaps even HOPED it would capture the holiday spirit-seeking audiences that paid hard money to see this. But, I'm afraid it failed on all three counts. Not that Nicolas Cage, Jon Lovitz and Dana Carvey aren't ordinarily funny, by all means, no. They are wonderful in their own rights. It's just that THIS storyline, script and direction lost its punch very early in the film, and the three main characters simply could not save it. Yes, I laughed out loud several times, and liked the madcap interaction between Cage, Lovitz and Carvey. But I think I could have written a BETTER ending, one befitting that of "The Blues Brothers", or something like it. Perhaps the next time these three guys get together in a comedy, they'll find a better writer and director. Otherwise, they will remain "trapped" in (fill in the blank).

It's sad how under rated this movie is; it's a classic! You'll never see another movie with 3 legends working together like this ever again! Dana Carvy, Jon Lovitz, and Cage make an amazing pear and it's sad to see that this is their only movie togther; they work great together!

This the only Christmas movie that i watch constantly year after year.I don't know why the low grade. My guess is that people are not using the film properly, and by "properly" i mean: It's a frickin' Christmas flick, don't watch it in July,or after a hard days work in September or in the spring vacation.I mean, what else do you need?it's got great comedy, romance, family closeness and lots of snow, all set in a very easy going small town with uncomplicated inhabitants...the kind of small town in witch we all dream to live.Jon Lovitz,Dana Carvey and Cage are all playing their natural characters without overacting crap or trying to outshine one another. In my opinion this is a slam-dunk Christmas classic and it's to bad for whoever doesn't put it on it's Holidays playlist.

When you put people like Saturday Night Live's Dana Carvey and John Lovitz on the screen together, you know there's going to be a few good laughs. Toss Mr. Nicolas Cage in and you've got a trio that is able to bounce anything off the other and make it come out even more hysterical. Cage stars as the oddball while Lovitz and Carvey star as small time crooks. Welcome these three gentlemen to Paradise, Pennslvania. They are new in town looking for someone none of them know, however when they walk into the bank to find this 'Sarah' person, they discover that it's going to be an easy pick, especially on Christmas Eve. They get the money and they're out. The hard part is getting out of town. Mixing slapstick with down to earth friendly community people who are willing to love anybody, humor and extreme difficulty sparks in this Christmas comedy not to be missed.
