What happened to Brad Anderson,I mean he was a great director, when this film rolls it's end credits, I was just, sorry I just can not find words,it was disturbing in a bad way,it was boring, slow, incoherent, with great actors weak play. I asked my self,if this is rated nearly 7/10 with a lot more than 500 votes. Beware everybody, you can have a great day,if you avoid this all the coast, this was just Eli Rooth's Hostel remake for charity workers This wants to symbolize something, that maybe will not understand everybody, and this movie just isn't work, engage,or convince. Hard to believe that Brad Anderson did not realize, the screenplay is just like a script of an incoherent person.

The plot is rather hectic, the thrill is not always up high (especially in the first half). But the atmosphere - environment and nature/type of Russians Siberian people - has been captured well; it is evident that the movie was set on the spot. Corruption and rule of money are everywhere in Russia and often violent acts are related to them. For foreigners, especially in case they do not know the Russian language, it is difficult and sometimes dangerous to get involved in complex situations. Second half of the movie is thrilling and the good actors Kingsley, Harrelson and Mortimer show again their talent and versatility (the only weakness is broken Russian spoken by Russian characters). The ending was also nice, without sudden appearances or disappearances by "dead" or vanished characters.

Yet another modern movie with no guts. This sucked. Although the scenery could have made even a bad movie look good, in this case it just showed how poorly scripted, directed and cast this movie was. In particular the lead female character was revolting. What a small, treacherous piece of humanity. The moment her husband is out of the scene she's sleazing over the drug stealing Spaniard Carlos. For a religious person she had the morals of an alley-cat. Not content with perving on him in the shower she heads with him into the wild, leaving his girlfriend behind. Predictably, he tries it on, she then proceeds to beat him to death. Not nice. And worse, she denies this for the rest of the movie. She wasn't a good, righteous person, but that's what we're expected to believe. The Americans just look like saps. Could have been OK, reviewers who compare it to Hitchcock are probably right, his later work was fairly nasty and in many cases, like this just, didn't make sense.

We have: an American couple in a situation that they know means "Be Careful" & yet they tell their life stories and all their weaknesses to strangers on a train A woman constantly trying to take pictures of people with her huge, expensive camera and yet never gets shoved to the ground A woman who c--k-teases an unreliable stranger than travels alone with him to the middle-of-nowhere & when things MAY be going south, kills him, just because 2 women getting away with murder (one we see, the other Ben tells us about) under ridiculous circumstances a body that never gets discovered, or even gnawed on by the local wolf, for some LONG period of time, just so the other woman can come back and get the loot she initially killed somebody else for . A guy dressed like a local Russian mafia thug who shows up and is introduced as a cop trying to help find the drugs, "No. Really. I am." Thrilling, eh.

This movie has some of the most stunning cinematography you will see in a movie. Some great acting by Emily Mortimer and Ben Kingsley also highlight this movie. The only downfall is that the plot is hard to follow and its the kind of movie that you have to watch all the way to the end. Also this movie seems to me to be just too long. Some of the scenes with Harrelson and Mortimer after he rejoins her on the train could have been shortened. I sometimes wonder if the filmmakers were trying to make a film about a troubled Marriage, the Transiberian Railroad, or Russian Drug traffickers. Still this is a very good movie with some great acting except for Woody Harrelson, who I thought was totally miscast in this role. This would have been a great Tom Hanks role or perhaps Richard Dryfess.

The movie is about the strange journey of a couple that is trying to travel from Beijing to Moscow by train. After they meet another couple, their journey starts to drift with the chain of unexpected strange events. I found the movie quite successful in terms of directing, acting and cinematography as such. The scenery was in general very nice. You are exposed with miles and miles of cold, snowy and deserted lands which looks magnificent. The story is quite nice as well. It is not unpredictable but events are following each other in a very well organized way. The only thing I found a bit uncool is the way the Russian narcotic police was portrayed. The way they plot the Russian police can lead to wrong generalizations (such as Midnight Express). Apart from that, I think it is potentially a good movie.

In short - this isnt how a missionary would behave, once again you have a clueless writer on a subject he/she knows nothing about and puts pen to paper and comes up with something ridiculous....not worth bothering with!

"Transsiberian" is an intermittently interesting thriller by Brad Anderson. It stars Woody Harrelson and Emiley Mortimer as an American couple journeying from China to Russia on the Trans-Siberian Railway. The duo meet a pair of fellow travellers, get embroiled with drug smugglers, and must fend off a group of corrupt Russians. The film's first half is excellent. Part Hitchcock, part Polanski, "Transsiberian" teases us with several low key, psycho-sexual thriller set pieces. Along these lines, its very good. Unfortunately a series of incredulous scenes then take place, Emiley Mortimer's character behaves increasingly unbelievable, and the film ends with unnecessary moments of gore and forced action. What was once an intelligent, low key psycho-thriller quickly becomes generic. Woody Harrelson is hilarious as an overly earnest husband. 7.5/10 – Worth one viewing. See "The Lady Vanishes".

This thriller lives up to definition of that word. There are so many fun elements. Trains, a frozen Siberian landscape, villains that may not be so bad and good guys that may not be so good. It's a fun ride. By fun I mean, intriguing and suspenseful. The situations are so uncomfortably tense. It held me captive. While it's entertaining watching a vacation go bad on screen, it's a real fear that a lot of people have when traveling outside of what's familiar. This movie takes that fear and runs with it. The acting here is great, as is to be expected from this great cast.
