This film is a low budget independent Christian film with a really intriguing premise. What if God sent St. Paul to 21st century America? The movie tries to answer that. I wondered if the film would be absolutely terrible, which it isn't. Yet, it is quite uneven. The biggest problem was that some of the acting in this film was really bad, though mostly it was smaller parts. The main actor who plays Paul was pretty good. The young American man he befriends was definitely green when it came to acting, but he wasn't terrible. The actress who becomes the young man's love interest was actually quite good. As Paul is about to be executed he is transported (or translated as they call it in the film) to 21st century rural Oregon, where a truck driver picks him up. Paul can't speak English, but the truck driver figures out he speaks Greek (ancient Greek to be exact). The truck driver, who is a lapsed Christian who went to Bible college, takes Paul home with him to Eugene, OR. Paul learns English within two months, which seemed a bit farfetched to me. (Yes, the real Paul was a really smart man, but I still think it would take longer to learn English.) When Paul learns there are Christians in the 21st century he is happy, but he is unhappy to find out there are divisions in Christianity. He would like the various congregations to come together and pray together and start a movement to push unity. Not all pastors are keen on this. One pastor, in particular, thinks he's a fraud. Obviously, this causes conflict. I liked the ecumenical message of the film. The film was made by Evangelical Protestant Christians. Paul does attend a Catholic mass, which I thought was good. Paul comes across as a very nice man, but Paul in his letters had a temper, which we never see. On the other hand Paul wants to work and not live by handouts, which was true. The real Paul made a living as a tentmaker while he traveled around the Roman Empire spreading the Gospel. The script itself wasn't terrible, but it could've been better in spots. As I stated some of the acting, by mostly, smaller characters, was bad. If you are a Christian it is worthwhile seeing once. I enjoyed it despite its flaws, but I probably won't watch it again.

In some measure, this film represents an interogation to the viewer about the manner to assume his faith. It is half religious film, half fantasy, and its two great virtues are the work of Robert Cohn and the wise use of a familiar recipe . A film starting from an often used question - if The Christ comes back, what world discovers Him ? Maybe, just an useful film. First, for the questions proposed.

1st so called religious movie that I really enjoyed in a long time. Stayed ( or staid) in line with the Bible. Was Philip teleported, when God snatched him away? I know this movie is fiction, but also know that with God all things are possible. Also really nice not having these so called big time actors that annoy me with their acting .

Like the African American guy said, "Are you serious?" Was this a college school project? Seems and feels so. I gave it 3 stars for effort, effort to make us laugh, as in "The rabbi doesn't eat pork." And at "delusions of grandeur" is where I stopped watching...oy!

So, overall the idea was good, but Paul acts way differently than the scriptural Paul acts. Also, the movie is very low budget and it is very apparent. From the lack of decent transitions to the missing background sounds and music, as well as the jumpy feel of the whole movie, the message is lost. Also, the plot takes too many weird turns. And the scenes that seem to build to something never develop into anything. There are some funny moments but if you are any sort of a film buff spare yourself the torture. In the first 5 minutes, one of the main rules of filming is broken and you can see the cameraman's reflection during different parts of the movie. Also, the whole thing is too long and has too many underdeveloped scenes. With a movie that long there needed to be a lot more on-screen development and not implied. So if you are a devout Christian or someone who enjoys seeing the errors in low-budget films, it could be worth your time, but otherwise, I say pass it up for something more put together.

I love anything that is based on the bible and this movie did not disappoint.

I made it to the part where the kid takes St. Paul to a Catholic Church and then tells him he can't take communion because he isn't a baptized Catholic. Unbelievable. If he isn't a baptized Catholic, who is and what is he???? Theologically weak. Paul doesn't wonder about trucks and cars, computers, electric lights, indoor plumbing or anything else, just takes it all in stride. The acting is amateur and script awful. Just put something else on.
