Some actors are just past their prime. The ingredients are their... just not developed properly. A rewrite could do wonders. The child girl actor was great... very rarely does a child actor get me to dislike them so much.

Really average storyline has so many holes annoying child actress it wasn't a total waste of time untill the end so I went to the internet to see if maybe I missed it and I'm not sure I saw the same movie as the other reviewers? Confusing all around.

"Ticket Out" and "Breakout" are the same US TV film. Jocelyn (Alexandra Breckenridge) divorces her husband Dennis (Billy Burke) who she claims abuses her and the son. With no evidence, the judge in town Dennis' family owns, grants joint custody. Jocelyn is offered help by Jim (Ray Liotta) who gets them out of town with dreams of Canada.
Made for TV quality. Twist that wasn't that great. Acting and script sub-par.

Predictable? What movie did you watch? There are a few plot twists and I could not guess the ending. You're left hanging? Did you watch the entire film? There's a very definitive conclusion! I've seen similar subject matter previously and this is the best of the lot!

I really enjoyed this film.
The cast was great. Billy Burke played Dennis, the abusive, angry father very well. Alexandra Breckenridge (Jocelyn) was also great. She embodied a desperate, grief-stricken, battered wife who knew she had to do anything to protect her children. Last, but not least, while Ray Liota's acting was great, his character was a little confusing. As I understand, he was a bounty hunter who was hired by a governmental agency to capture fugitives. From what I understand he pretended to look out for Jocelyn and her children, even to the point of potentially becoming a love interest for her, but eventually betraying her and bringing her back to Dennis. I don't understand why, when he had the chance, he didn't surrender her to Dennis.
I was also disappointed with the ending, as viewers were left hanging and with many questions.
I gave the film 8 stars because I would watch it again but was left wondering a lot.

It's not the worst movie I've ever seen. The whole concept of an "Underground Railroad" for abused women and children who the Laws of the Land have let down is unfortunately a believable and actual thing. This movie is a poor example of how that railroad works in comparison to others that I've seen. It does inform the audience that such a thing does exisit and that are real people who help the abused everyday at at huge personal sacrifice/risk. The one thing in this movie that wracked my nerves like fingernails on a chalkboard is the little girl Mary Sue. I don't know the child actor's name but I hope I never see another movie with her in it.

--Caution* Spoiler Alert--
An almost believable plot (until the ending), with believable characters. The ending however leaves the viewer to 'rewind' what did I miss? Even with my search of other viewers comments and reading about the movie, plot and thoughts of others "to find an explanation", I still have no idea-- who is who, why..what's the motive of the father. As he shoot's the very person he hired in the end. Confused? to say the least... The most important part of a movie is the ending. It is where all the twist's and turns (and there are plenty in this movie) are supposed to come to a conclusion, where the viewer is enlightened, mesmerized, and in full understanding of the course of events throughout the film. This movie however packed with excitement, lacks a conclusion. It leaves the viewer either waiting for an explanation through dialog in the very last moments, or a 'stay tuned for part two', of which neither arrived.

This is slightly better than the average score suggests. The only thing that really lets it down is the ending - the audience is left hanging and I hate that. Why bother to tell a story and then deprive us of a satisfactory ending? This really seems to be a problem with film makers, they just seem incapable of rounding things off properly.
Other than that I have no real complaints. It has a slight TV Movie feel to it but the leads are very good, and the kids perfectly adequate. The story is interesting if not fully explored, and it moves along at a decent pace. There are a couple of silly moments slotted in for dramatic effect, but they don't overshadow the plot.
Anyway the moral of this story is if you have to go on the run, don't take kids with you. And of course the law is an ass, but then we all knew that.
Worth a viewing if you're not too critical.
