One of my favorite films from when I was growing up. Such great animation and music.

This movie is pure crap. Trying to be a Disney classic maybe, but almost everything in this film is a disgrace. However.............the songs are kinda cute I guess, but never the less, the film is bad bad bad! One particular scene in this movie shows little Thumbelina trapped on a lily pad screaming at the top of her lungs while the rapids of water are sending her to her doom. Her French bird friend starts screaming too.........meanwhile.........at the end of the film this bird carries her to safety away from a perverted mole on his back because he has wings!! Lily pad?? Everyone start screaming the bird forgets he can fly.

I watched it for the first time today, so I don't have the nostalgia a lot of reviewers do. In fact, the only Thumbelina movie I ever saw as a kid was a knockoff one with parts done in live-action, probably from about the same time. A few things about it were really annoying for me. There are a few plot holes, (Why can't Jacquimo just fly Thumbelina back home? How does winter come the day after Autumn begins?) some characters were really annoying, (the little bugs, the toads, the beetle, Jacquimo, etc.) and how hard the moral was nailed into my head from beginning to end. Take a drink every time you hear "Nothing is impossible!" or "Follow your heart!", you'll be wasted in no time. Also, don't listen to Marry the Mole. It's not sung well, the background music isn't too good, and the lyrics are just plain bad. But it's an okay, cute movie for the kids. It's no Disney Princess movie, but it's decent.

In this movie they show that it is ok for a strange man to break and enter. This movie is also very inappropriate! In the movie a frog has an inappropriate figure. This is an inappropriate movie that is poorly written and I definitely don't recommend it.

This movie really has the Don Bluth feel to it. It's a little darker than your average Disney movie and the story doesn't have your basic plot equation. I remember watching this movie as a kid and being completely mesmerized. The songs are unforgettable, with "Let Me Be Your Wings" as a sort of recurrent theme that is truly heart-wrenching at times. It is a truly great love story that kids can understand and be moved by, as I remember I was. Truly, this director has a style to him that makes his movies stick in your head for giving you a whole different feel than the same kids movies that are being churned out again and again. As an adult, I love it just as much as when I was a kid but I can appreciate it new ways. It's perfect for all ages. I can't emphasize enough the diamond in the rough that this movie is, and I don't think it's just the nostalgia talking.

This film is amazing to put it bluntly. Speaking as a 17 year old girl, I first watched this film when I was around 5/6 and instantly fell in love with the protagonist (Thumbelina) and the extremely catchy songs throughout. Around 11 years later, I'm still completely besotted with the film. It is a beautiful film and definitely worth a watch. People who have slated the film for different reasons have taken the film too seriously considering it is intended for a younger audience, which needs to be taken into consideration. Over all, however, I give this film a 10. Guaranteed it is worth a watch, you will love it.

Thumbelina is not a perfect movie/story, but the elements of this story are very engaging. Barry Manilow's music (Let Me Be Your Wings) was so phenomenal, he sang it on late night television. Instead of the prince popping out of nowhere in the end, our main protagonist takes some stand for herself in devotion and determination. Gilbert Gottfried's role was loud and obnoxiously hilarious, particularly when he spanked Thumbelina in public. Their Razzie award song, Marry the Mole, actually matches well with the story. Basically, I find this movie to be a bit underrated, although I do understand why people hate on it, particularly the swallow singing "Follow Your Heart."

I really like the chemistry between the main character and the main character's love interest! While it happened rather quick, it doesn't feel too forced because they genuinely seem to like each other. This movie is basically about staying strong despite the troubles you go through, and the only people who matter are the people who care about you. Do not settle for anyone else! Always choose to be with someone who you love.
