The story is a ominous character driven nightmare that feels foreboding from scene one. There is a dark energy that hangs over each scene, accenting both the dramatic moments and the thriller alike. Dorani manages to tap into an unease that some tragic relationships carry effortlessly. He does so without relying on cumbersome exposition. The acting is stellar. Both Ayers and Policano are wonderful at bringing life to these characters in a way that humanizes them. The characters are recognizable and relatable. Beckas is charismatic and creepy with his portrayal of young Zeke. I did come across a few moments in the middle of the movie where I thought maybe the story got away from me. The feeling didn't stick. Most of the horror is subjective. Beholden to the intensity and suspense that owns the film's atmosphere from scene one. Watching the steady deterioration of the characters, their relationship and the overall ominous situation works both psychologically and viscerally. The horror that unfolds is subtle but impactful. "This Is Our Home" is a tense, dark thriller. Heavily stylized, the film taps into both the struggle of mental illness and stress of imperfect relationships without sensationalism. Plus the downfall of this couples weekend getaway is nightmarish and bizarre. Almost ethereal, not in a heavenly way but in a 'sleep-walking through a bad dream' way. This is just a really well done movie- save the ending. Not sure how I feel about that.

Don't really normally rate movies on imdb just watch them, but this one was so weird and different i want to express how much i like it. i have a lot of questions but . that's what i liked about it most. really strong acting and great music, creeped out the whole time which is the point of a horror movie isnt it!

Thats 30 minutes of life stolen from me.. it tries too hard and the responses to various situations are forced and unnatural...

Worst movie I've seen, there is no story and you don't know its only about sexual or horror. I WASTED MY TIME FOR NO REASON.

Simone policano is one f the main reasons to see this film.She's jsut perfect.The strange tone and odd structure made this for me daring and adventurous.It's a real art-house mindbender.Those other negative reviews are the individuals who line up 4 hours ahead for every damn marvel movie.

Bad movie, I was just wasting my precious time. The story's bad and the acting's terrible.

This is just an absolute waste of time.... it feels like a pet project that will only ever make sense to the writer of this nonsense. As people have pointed out, it raises questions, and they are right, it raises far too many questions with absolutely no answer to any of them, but the key question should be ... Why did they even bother making this. - it goes absolutely nowhere, and doesn't even provide food for thought as it cobbles what could be interesting plot lines together and then does nothing with them, but limp to an uninteresting and drawn out conclusion.

Do yourself a huge favor and skip this movie. A man and wife (we assume) get pregnant. At first they are excited, and it seems they name the baby Zeke. Then we see them coming away from the doctor's office--maybe? The woman is crying. Then they move to her childhood home, her parents no longer living there. On the way two rednecks harass them, and we think the woman is about to be raped, but this doesn't happen. Now the couple is in the house. They drink wine, avoid a room that her father forbade anyone to ever enter, and suddenly there is a knock at the door. A boy of about ten years is there. The woman is at first terrified of the boy, but after a little while believes that this is her aborted child; but the man is incredulous and wants to call the police. First he is severely burned by the little boy pouring scalding milk on his leg. Then he is attacked by his wife with a pair of scissors. Then she and the boy--Zeke--tie him up and drive an awl into his brain with a rubber hammer. This doesn't kill him or give him the hoped-for lobotomy, but it permanently damages his brain and turns him into a drooling vegetable. Meanwhile Zeke and his mother live their lives as if nothing has happened. Then the movie ends. Who wrote this utter garbage?

This is one of the best recent horror films I've seen in a while. I saw the film twice at festivals and fell in love. Every time I watch the film, new twists and turns are revealed. The actors are fantastic (especially Cory) and the film will have you on the edge of your seat.
