An excellent film about the frustrations of growing up, made worse by a destructive step father who is in all honesty a right bastard!! and one who enjoys one to many cans of the strong stuff, De Niro is excellent in this movie, but the real star of this movie is decaprio who shines through out, I've never been a fan of his work but the guy has earned my respect and he is truly a fantastic gifted actor and should of won an Oscar for his role in this movie i am not one to give away the full story when it comes to reviewing films as so many other reviewers do SHAME ON YOU GUYS!!! all i am going to say is if u have not seen this film then buy it now!! and if u have seen it and don't own it again buy it as it's a fantastic story of both courage and the will to survive...

The actors Leonardo DiCaprio, Ellen Barkin and Robert De Niro deliver incredible performances through out the film as it explores the theme of violence in families and rebellion in teenagers.

I can only say that about two films, and this is one of them. Very realistic and compelling performances by Leonardo and and Robert. Worth watching at least once by anyone who is a fan of superior acting. The raw and realistic nature of the confrontations between the two males as one struggles against the other is almost too real to watch at times.

It's one of those movies where when you're watching you don't like it cause it's so real and when it's done you won't watch it again because it sends you on such a emotional roller coaster but you say to yourself "that was a good movie"

When i was 11 years old in (1996) i heard a lot of story's about you but i did not take it to serious because i did not know you yet. but since 1997 i know you and i watched all your movies and what can i say,, i act like you cause you where my big idol and this boys life is one of your movies i watched more than 10 times. you put on great performance on this movie and your acting abilities is showing more than people could see. i wish you a lot of success in the future and i cant wait for you next movie with Matt Damon an Mark Wahlberg. The characters are very real,I know many people whose personalities suit the three main characters perfectly,it is an extremely realistic film which adds immensely to the drama. so How can you not hate Robert DeNiro in this film? .... Brilliant script, exception acting and all too frightening reality. It's sad but true...I still love it...

Cant believe I'm 28 and this is the first time im seeing this! Brilliant film!

This is one of my favourite movies of all time. There is superb acting from all concerned - and DeNero is very hated in his role as an abusive, insecure husband and stepfather. DiCaprio plays his role as Tobias Wolff very well indeed, it is excellent how he switches from being the 'know-it-all' bad boy to a young teen desperate to make something of his life. The script is well written, with deep sympathy created for 'Jack' and his mother, and a hope that they will success in their search for happiness. As emotional and dark as this is, there is also some light-hearted comic relief, including a chance to see DiCaprio howling to some music of the era! 5 *****, recommended for a person who wishes to see DiCaprio and DeNero in what could possible be the finest roles of their careers.

Robert De Niro and Leonardo DiCaprio worked wonderfully in the movie.The other actors were also good.It has well wrote and directed.Although, it does has some disturbing scenes and words in it but they don't last all that long.The scenes are sexual to let you know.But overall it is a really good movie and I think you should see it.
