Continuing the success of the previous work, this film has completed remarkable enrichment and upgrades in the industrial technology presented in the scene and the world view set in science fiction. The different stages of the film divided by the countdown of different events have a little bit of excitement.
However, I deeply loathe this film. Its lines, such as "Just read it, word for word" and "complete the mission at any cost", etc., subconsciously and profoundly expose the "Chinese-style" ideology. The things 'with Chinese Characteristics' are interconnected through this Omnipotent Government principle, which provides unity as an intermediary. In the coalition government in the film, China, which has the most powerful voice, brings a suffocating Chinese-style decision-making black box. The authorities always ignore all resistance including mainstream public opinion , what is compatible with the implementation of the plan is a highly centralized political and economic system and the high-pressure stability maintenance of the armed forces... The past and present of the "Wandering Earth Project" shown in the film, and the construction of the narrative of the "Community of Common Destiny" are everywhere exudes what Trotsky called "Bonapartist Philosophy of the State "

When disaster strikes, totally different with western myths and legends, Chinses won't run away by taking Noah's Ark, in our legends, we will fight with disaster to keep homeland safe, in our culture, we deeply love our homeland, this values reflect our real life, Chinese fight with flood, wildfire, earthquake, drought, pandemic, even paid the price of life. We truly believe that our homeland are not only ours, it also belongs to our future generations, we must fight for them, to continue our civilization. This value continued thousands years. To understand this value, is the key of understanding this movie. By the way, besides of the values behind the story, this movie has amazing visual effects and outstanding acting.

The movie, based on Liu Cixin's sci-fi novel, is a prequel of the Wandering Earth revealed in 2019. With the collapse of the sun in 100 years, human beings initiate a magnificent project to save themselves. The wandering earth project is a 5 steps plan spanning over 2000 years to move the earth planet from solar system to a new home in 4.2 light years away.
I love the large picture of the movie! I have seen many apocalyptic movies that people choose to abandon the place where they live and escape, but in this movie people pick a romantic way to bring the home planet with them. It's unrealistic and hard to believe but that's all sci-fi about.
Multiple storylines are unfolded under that large picture. I found it thought provoking when I watched the discussion of family ties, mentors and mentees, and the responsibility when in crisis. And the movie is a tearjerker. It's a bit too touching as a sci-fi movie but it makes the movie more sophisticated.

The achievement of this movie is beyond art and film itself. It's a milestone of Asian Sci-Fi movies, a new chapter. Hollywood is not dominated Sci-Fi movie any more. The Sci-Fi scene is fantastic, epic and gorgeous! The space war, the spacecraft, the space elevator, and the solar storm are all incredibly awesome! More than the science part, the father-daughter love and the sacrifice of senior astronauts are touching. As well, even though all humankind is facing the disaster of the earth's destruction, the nations are still in conflict, which is thought-provoking. I am super looking forward to "Wandering Earth 3".

I have to say that it is a very unique movie, which is attractive enough. I can't wait watching it again on Netflix!
The story is just like a history story that have really happened before. It seem a little strange at first, but when the crisis come, you'll forget it and feel immersed in it completely. I promise it'll be an unforgettable experience.
The space elevator is so great, and it is exactly the same as I thought. I really hope I can live until it really be built in reality world. By the way, I just wonder why US movies doesn't like it, as it only appears in Foundation on Apple TV (Maybe it's because I missed them unfortunately?)
From my point of view, what imperfect is that the speed of story is too fast to render emotions perfectly, which makes it embarrassing when it comes to sad moments. In addition, it is a little tired to watch, as the movie scenes are always very impactful and the amount of information in the movie is too large for me to understand instantly.
Anyway, The Wandering Earth 2 is a special Chinese movie, which is worth trying.

The whole film is based on grand narrative tone, currently the best Chinese science fiction film. For a long time to come, it will also be the ceiling of Chinese science fiction movies.
The whole film is balanced, with the large-scale modern terrorist attacks, the differences between countries due to contradictions, and the choices and observations of small people. Humans are complex, but proud to be a species. In the context of the Russia-Ukraine war and the end of the epidemic, it will give you courage and confidence to live in the future to see how we overcome the common difficulties of mankind.
In fact, the most science-fiction line in the whole film is a branch line, which is the relationship between Ma Zhao and Tu Hengyu. The author uses them to directly reflect the alienation of human beings from science and technology. However, I am deeply afraid and hesitant about the idea that "science and technology can produce the same free will as human beings, and machines can replace human flesh and blood". That conversation with moss at the end of the film opens up a new dimension to the franchise
"Civilization without people is meaningless."
