When I hear about a low budget film my expectations usually drop through the floor because film makers tend to 'save' in the wrong areas.
I really enjoyed the feel of this movie. The lead roles are caricatured in a very 'American Pie' kind of way and I enjoyed the humour that came with the way they acted. It seemed less self-conscious than most of the Hollywood offerings.
The story won't have you leaping out of your seat but it was perfect for a fun night in and there were so many plusses that I was surprised by the low rating. There was one indoor fight scene that made me aware it was quite low budget, and that's no great loss compared to the unending yawn factor of the mano-a-mano end fight scenes in nearly every big budget film these days.
Other than that, I loved the fact that the places where the scenes were shot were thanked personally at the end and that all the music was specific for the film. I feel that if they had a limited budget, they really used the money in the right places. Great fun.

After reading the reviews, I really wasn't expecting a lot... It is a bit 'B' movie'ish but it certainly wasn't the worst film I've seen...
It wasted and hour and a half while I was waiting for the washing to tumble... Girls were attractive even if the story wasn't the most original...
Think a low budget Fright Night... Maybe withba bigger budget it may have been better but I thought it was fine as it was - Not every film can be a massive blockbuster... Sure there aren't going to be any 'Oscars' won in this film... But it is quite engaging...
Go on - Give it a go on a dull Sunday afternoon.... You won't be disappointed... Just don't set your expectations too high...

The special effects budget was about £2.50, most of which was spent on red corn syrup and eyeliner to draw squiggly lines on Victoria's face. Victoria's costumes came from the SHEIN Halloween sale. Cameron was as likeable as Covid on your birthday and at least then you still get presents. Why Diane was vaguely interested in Cameron was the greatest mystery as she was a beautiful woman and he looked like a McDonald's employee. For the entire film the ice cream shop didn't have a single customer to save on the cost of extras. All of this terribleness was why I couldn't stop watching this movie until the end. At one point it seemed like it was going to turn into a porno but alas no as this did seem to be the director's true calling. All the actors gave it their best shots with what little they had to work with. Gold stars to you all and to the director and writer I will leave you with the comment my sister's teacher gave her in a school report "Jessica always likes to contribute in class however the relevance of her contributions are not always apparent".

I wanted to like this film, despite having a tiny budget & cast, but in the end was so relieved when it finished. Lead actor was actually quite good & likeable, but most of the rest of the cast were awful, especially the boring vampire next door. Girl in burger store was at least cute. The girl they all lusted for was certainly attractive in a * star like way, with her breasts constantly centre stage, & had the only interesting scene in the film when she got together with the vampire chick, but then she closed the curtains so couldn't even see Miss * star getting seduced by Miss vampire chick. Like another person mentioned, all the men were lame, probably except for the lead who was cute, & women were all strong, though boring.
This is a poor film & already scoring well under 5, which will soon go down alot more when people start watching this. Avoid, unless you really like bad films.

In a world where we're now used to big theatric productions with A-list actors and computerized special effects, it's nice to see a production that's a throwback to a simpler time.
This movie is a $2 rental on Amazon and worth every cent of that. Streamed it over Discord with some friends and we laughed like crazy. The plot was a cross between The Girl Next Door and Fright Night, predictable but still worth a watch. I'd recommend adding it to your list for B movies to watch around Halloween. Just don't expect this to be a super polished production. Most of the sets looked to be borrowed locations, but the decor was good. The actors handled their roles well. Costuming and practical effects were good. Overall, I don't feel like I need the 2 hours of my life back. It wasn't a waste of my time.

I love comedy horror. It's a tradition between my husband & I to enjoy these movies together for a laugh. The cheesier the better. I never like to be critical of anyone's work. No matter what, I like to consider peoples art. The storyline was predictable & would've been fun but due to the vapid & preposterous behavior of the male characters it became a bit hard to take. I understand wanting to make strong female characters but do we have to make the males in the film downright silly & buffoonish? It didn't/ doesn't come off as comedic because every male character in the film lacks intellect...

Wow, never would I have thought that paying to rent a movie on Amazon would get me a poor B-movie at the beginning of 2024. I suppose that's what I should have suspected when a brand new movie released in 2024 is already available to rent on Amazon in January 2024. Poor acting, poor storyline, poor location and shooting. I was lured in by the cover. Don't be fooled! Its a terrible movie -- might be ok if didn't pay to see it but you'll regret it either way. Amazon you did me wrong. How do I rate this movie lower? I have seventy five more words to write to be able to post this review and I don't have anything else to say.

Stumbling upon the 2024 movie "The Vampire Next Door" by random luck here in 2024, and never having heard about it, I opted to sit down and watch it, given the fact that it is a new vampire-themed horror movie that I hadn't already seen. And I was sort of hoping that given the movie's title and synopsis, then maybe it would be a movie somewhat akin to "Fright Night".
I have to say that the movie's cover/poster was cheesy, so very, very cheesy, and it felt like the movie might have belonged in the "True Blood" universe, or that kind of teenage girl vampire fantasy setting.
The narrative in "The Vampire Next Door" was rather slow paced and uneventful, and that made sitting through the movie somewhat of a struggle and an ordeal. And I have to say that I was close to giving up on watching it more than once throughout the course of the 110 minutes that the movie ran for. So writer and director Sean King didn't exactly impress me with his 2024 horror movie "The Vampire Next Door".
And I am not fully sure of what genre of movie Sean King was aiming for here. Was it supposed to be an actual horror movie, or perhaps a horror comedy? Either way, the attempt wasn't particularly successful, especially since the movie was light in the horror department and rather lacking in the comedy department.
I wasn't familiar with the cast ensemble in the movie, but it should be noted that the actors and actresses on the cast list actually put on good performances and brought the characters and story to life on the screen in a good way.
The movie could have benefitted tremendously for a more upscaled narrative and also a more effective trim in the editing room, because running at nearly two hours and with so precious little happening in the narrative, just didn't exactly make for a grand viewing experience.
There was a little bit of blood and violence in the movie, which sort of did help to keep the movie somewhat afloat. But it just wasn't nowhere enough to sustain nearly two hours of virtually nothing happening and all of the movie's shortcomings.
My rating of "The Vampire Next Door" lands on a four out of ten stars.

The team behind this film clearly are fans of 80s B-grade classics like Once Bitten and its ilk. The film was clearly modelled on such fare, trying for the same sassy 1980s style with a few peripheral updates to pull the film into the 21st century. With tighter production it might almost have hit the mark. Unfortunately, the film as delivered falls short. Maybe 80s chatty comedy horror just doesn't work in the modern meilleau. Maybe a tighter package would have gotten it over the line...
The film is intermittently in possession of most of the key elements of its more successful predecessors (down to its synth-heavy soundtrack), but tends toward being loose and uneven, and prone to meander. Its cast is sufficiently attractive and adequately skilled, and most of them have moments of on-point delivery, but somehow their performances get lost in the folds of the films excesses. And in terms of excesses, I'm not talking about gore - the film virtually has none. In fact, it really could have gone far harder on the horror aspect, which might have acted as an elevating counterpoint to its more syrupy heart.
All in all, it has enough charm to keep you watching to the end, but could have been so much more than the parts it scatters around liberally.
