Nicolas Cage, a former government hitman, delivers a cold-hearted performance in the film, earning a 6 out of 10. The film is a disposable but entertaining action comedy drama with a stupid plot and a few good laughs. Ashley Greene plays Ashley, who hasn't seen her dad Matt (Cage) in years and has no clue about his hitman past. When she gets entangled with an organized crime gang, Ashley puts her 11-year-old daughter on a flight from Miami to the Cayman Islands to stay with Matt. A football team's worth of thugs are on the next flight out, but Cage's wily 59-year-old is no match for the thugs. The performances are the weak link in the film, with Cage doing his thing with the relaxed air of a man in on the joke and having a fun time filming in the sunny Cayman Islands. Some actors aim for straight drama, but either their skills or the script isn't up to it. Despite this, there are one or two funny moments, making this film linger in your memory for a good three or four seconds. Director Tim Brown has a history of exploring various genres, such as horror and family films. His latest film, The Retirement Plan, is a violent yet fuzzy action-comedy that centers around criminal organizations and secret pasts. Filmed in the Cayman Islands, the film features notable actors like Nicolas Cage, Ron Perlman, Ernie Hudson, Jackie Earle Haley, Lynn Whitfield, Ashley Greene, Joel David Moore, and Thalia Campbell. Despite the overly cooked script and some scenes that lack intensity, the authentic setting and surprising character work give The Retirement Plan some much-needed life. The film's authentic setting and surprising character work give it some much-needed life. The Retirement Plan is an action comedy that follows a couple who escape a violent heist after being ambushed by goons they stole from. The audience is led to believe they will be a concurring presence. However, after a scene where Ashley (Ashley Greene) is blackmailed with her bloodied husband, she travels to the Cayman Islands with two of Donnie's men to retrieve a confidential flash drive. Ashley becomes an ever-present part of the movie, but the battered husband never returns. This confusing situation affects the story's overarching family dynamic, and the audience must assume he's alive to avoid ending as a dark drama. Thalia Campbell's character Sarah is a captivating character with a spark that draws viewers into her interactions with adults. The relationship between Sarah and her grandfather, Bobo, is witty, endearing, and insightful, reminiscent of Natalie Portman and Jean Reno in Léon: The Professional. Ron Perlman plays a crime boss lieutenant-turned-kidnapper-turned-softie. The Retirement Plan offers subtle commentary on politics and how everything in life is politically motivated and orchestrated for power. The movie is clean, fun, and entertaining, making it a great choice for those looking for a clean and entertaining action flick. The movie is worth a try for those looking for a clean and entertaining film.

Jimmy (Jordan Johnson-Hinds) steals a thumb drive from Donny (Jackie Earle Haley) one of the bad guys. Everyone calls it a hard drive. He manages to get the drive to his wife Ashley (Ashley Greene) before he is caught. She manages to get the drive to her estranged father in the Cayman Islands through her young daughter Sarah (Thalia Campbell). Grandpa (Nicolas Cage) is a scruffy-looking man in retirement, living in a beach house. The bad guys go after Grandpa to get the drive. Turns out Grandpa was a paid assassin and always has a fun way to kill a man. The film was cliche-filled nonsense. What was that fake voice Cage was using? Was that acting? And at times he loses it. I imagine it was all part of the fun. Action-comedy popcorn film. Guide: F-word. No sex or nudity.

"The Retirement Plan" is a film that, unfortunately, falls short of its potential due to a recurring and irksome aspect - the incessant misnaming of a USB Drive / Flash Drive / Thumb Drive as a "Hard Drive." While the movie boasts an interesting premise of a motley crew of morally questionable individuals chasing after a digital treasure, this recurring misnomer becomes a major hindrance to the overall viewing experience. The Actors / Writers inability to correct this error becomes a source of distraction for the audience. The repeated misuse of terminology not only feels unrealistic but also disrupts the immersion in the story. It's challenging to take the characters seriously when they consistently refer to the USB drive as a "Hard Drive," despite all evidence to the contrary. Additionally, the film's potential for character development and meaningful plot progression is hindered by the constant repetition of this joke. The characters remain one-dimensional, and their pursuit of the USB drive is reduced to a simplistic and tiresome chase, lacking depth or complexity.

This is easily the worst film I've seen this year, I can only think the die hard fans of the actors give it positive reviews because they are die hard fans. It tries to be funny, but fails like an awkward, embarrassing dad joke. It's like a 15 year old kid was given a few million and a camera and said, go make a film. Words can not describe how painful this experience was, sadly, I was on a date and couldn't get up and leave, I just had to smile and pretend it was good. I'm just copying and pasting this again because I'm 81 characters short.
