Absolutely enthralled with this story of CIA operations and Al Pacino is a GOD as far as acting goes.
Colin Farrell is an up and coming star that has done some great work, and I expect to see more out of him in the future.
Bridget Moynahan has come a long way and she is also very good in this film.
If you like suspense, and want to know more about the inner workings of the CIA, then this film should be in your queue.

This movie held my attention and helped me suspend my disbelief for nearly every moment-- something that's rare. Reviewers are saying it's nothing special, but they're VERY cynical compared to normal people like you and me (how would you like to be forced to watch the Wild Thornberrys and then Full Frontal?). Bottom line, it's a fascinating depiction of what spy training might be like, with tons of twists and turns that are only slightly predictable. Spy movie fans will enjoy it, and so will non-spy fans.

This movie was pretty good. Farrell does indeed deliver the goods as a CIA agent. The best scene was when Farrell and Lalya are running around and then they try to do something...and Colin get's CAUGHT and tortured for about THREE DAYS. That's a lot of time to spend getting tortured for (spoiler) PURE TRAINING!!!! I was shocked!!
The ending was good and it did indeed have you guessing a little bit. I do hope to see a sequal to this. Maybe they can call it THE TRAINER or the INSTRUCTOR????
In any event, I would not rent this for a lot of money, but if it's on tv, see it. I saw I ROBOT today and the same girl who played LAYLA was ALSO in that!!

It's a wonder USA still is a super power, if CIA was behaving like it always is in the movies. "The Recruit" is another field agent training film with another field agent trainer, which here is Al Pacino. Is he that out of money that he has to appear in this? It's much worse than "Insomnia".
The plot here is not to be believed, to express it in a moderate gentle way. If everything is so secret, why do the characters communicate in mobile phones? Why don't they check out for microphones in the cars while dealing with classified information? The "unpredictable" end is not unpredictable at all. You're are rather aware of who the bad guy is.
Keep away from this film. It's a recommendation.

First off, this movie was excellent. I am totally into the CIA and espionage and spying so when i heard about this movie, i was all for it. I don't want to tell what the movie is about but it's very good with lots of twists and plot points. If your into spy thrillers, this is definately the movie to see. I rate it 10 star.

Colin Farrell, where have you gone? Back when Farrell was a hot commodity, he was cast as a CIA recruit in this so-so thriller, opposite that charming and yet annoying hambone Al Pacino as his mentor. Farrell is led to believe there is a mole in the agency and Pacino assigns him to ferret out the mole. Bridget M. is a fellow agent whom Farrell falls for and then begins to suspect she may be the mole. Really, nothing much going on here except for lots of closeups of Farrell. Pacino is completely off the wall. For those who know their movies, the ending was repeated in the more recent FOUR BROTHERS. If you dig Farrell, fine. Otherwise, there isn't much going on here.

A very decent thriller well acted by all cast . A CIA thriller Full of twists and turns keeps the film moving on nicely and the plot makes you wonder who is the bad guy ? Out of a star studded cast . Well worth the watch as you will not get bored as the story keeps developing nicely till the end. Al Pacino plays a believable dark character who is a long serving CIA agent who recruits Colin Farrell to join the CIA . This is probably my favourite Colin Farrell film that I have seen I thought he played his role well . I can't really think of any negatives about this film i could understand reviews saying its unbelievable and over the top but for me from start to finish it kept me interested and I enjoyed it so it claims 8 out of 10

If you take off the beginning and the last five minutes or so o the film, and you actually have a pretty decent movie on your hands. First of all, I won't ruin it for anyone, but the beginning is just too quick and unrealistic. One second Colin Farrell is a genius/jock/bartender and the next he is training to be in the CIA. It was like some weird slight of hand trick. And the ending! Just walk out for the past five minutes, for Al Pacino just absolutely provides some of the crummiest and most clichéd dialogue I have seen in a long time. So show up late and arrive early, because the middle sequences are just absolutely brilliant. Sometimes funny, and often times cool, just stay for the beefy and tasteful middle section of the film.

This movie throws every plot twist your way and keeps you guessing at every turn. It eventually becomes a typical nothing-is-as-it-appears and you can't trust anyone type movie, but I liked it. Al Pacino gives a terrific, over-the-top performance in the lead, and Collin Ferrel and Bridget Moynahan give solid supporting roles. I liked it a lot.
