This is the worst movie that I have seen in terms of being honest to the history. For someone who knows a little bit about Iran, it is obvious that the producer knew nothing about the context in winch Ibin Sina lived. His city was not actually Isfahan and Isfahan never looked like this. They even did not bother to get know a little bit about the architecture of Iran, and made a very amateurish scene, when you look at the buildings and their decorations. It is obviously stealing the glory of a nation by altering the facts this much. The movie changed the greatest Hakim ever to the assistant of a Westerner, and showed him a dummy in front of the great "British" guy. They might wanted to make fantasy like they always do, and say they do not do a documentary. But the question is that why they should have used Ibin Sina's name if the film has nothing to do with his real story.

Really people! This was a good movie! Its entertainment. I did not watch this for historical value. Since movies are always, always altered for impact, even a work of fiction. If I wanted to know the true accounting of someones life I would read a history book. But this movie made me want to know the truth about this history because it change the way medicine advanced and in turn Life. Again, movies are for letting someone enjoy time away from a ordinary Life. No 10..a little long but they don't have 9 1/2 and in order to tell this story we needed to see all of what was shown. If you watch movies not documentaries and even then, don't expect the truth. Movie: story or event recorded by a camera as a set of moving images and shown in a theater or on television; a motion picture. Stop harping on political, social injustice, and religious inconsistencies and just enjoy the MOVIE.

Here I am going to tell you the facts that this movie changed it: 1. Muslims doesn't hate Christians but in fact they allow them to have churches and worship their God without annoying or disturbing them. 2. Muslims never bend or kneel to anyone except their God unlike what happened in the movie. 3. In Islam there is nothing against the science and there is nothing called witchcraft, but in fact there are a lot of facts in the Holy Quran that we can't prove it without the science so in this movie they are giving a wrong idea about it. 4. Bin Sīnā was a strong believer in God and all his work and knowledge were for the God and for helping people because God ordered us to help each other.

It's a great shame that so many of the reviewers are so woeful about this film. For me, the film was quite wonderful and one that I would most definitely recommend to all. If you have not read the book, that's fine – just loose yourself in the film and don't worry about those virtuous bookworms. At the end of the day – it's a film and not an 800-page book. As a film, it is quite entertaining and stands as its own. For those of you who like to loose themselves in motion pictures, then this is for you: the actors perform well, the scenes are beautifully crafted and of course the story is compelling. And for those bookworms: films are not books and you'll never really capture the same story, it's just an interpretation. Put the film on, grab a bag of popcorn and just enjoy it for what it is. A GOOD FILM.

All things considered I recommend this movie, It's picturesque and captivating. The music is very beautiful as well. And hands down to Ben Kinsly as always! It is a beautiful movie. The actors are brilliant and the story is very captivating. For once I didn't feel wretched when foreign cinema has tried to show Persia. At least Persians were speaking Persian even though they looked like Arabs. The illustrations that were used as the school material were the exact replicas of what remains from Ibn Sina and what you can see in his great book. That said the movie is very wrong in historical facts. What was supposed to be Isfahan looked nothing like it, but I suppose that's too much to expect. First the whole time line is wrong, Ibn Sina lived during the ruling of Saljugi dynasty and was caught up in their wars. He had to be on the run all the time for most of his life. The most important blunder of the movie which was quite central to the storyline is that Ibn Sina did not practice autopsy! He did! It was considered a sin so he had to steel corpses during the night. It is one of the reasons why people didn't like him. I have not read the book, I am talking about real documented history about him so maybe this blunder can be blamed on the book. I don't know!

Whether this movie is filmed on real story or not(that is not by the way as another view describes the facts in details), i saw this movie as message of hope to anyone who wants to achieve his goal. At first i thought this movie of normal B class film but it turns out to be an A+, that credit goes to the director who did't bore his viewers. Acting was off course great, there are many great names in the movie and sure they all played their role in the success of this film. The character of Rob was not that easy but it was done as this person is meant to do this role (that's my thoughts anyone can deny it :)) and believe it or not as i am watching Hollywood films for about 7 years, this is the first movie in which Muslim's contribution to knowledge of science / medicine is shown and i appreciate it.

Fist of all I really appreciate to screenwriter and directors that make movies about Persia history while they can't take pictures in Iran but unfortunately most of these movies are made with strong prejudice! why this movie is awful? because: 1.completely fake history; Ibn Sina was died in 58 years because disease not suicide! he was always in traveling and writing and he had physical feeble but he had no time to cure himself. finally he gave up and said to his friend "I prefer a short life with width to a narrow one with length". Ibn Sina did autopsy on a dead human body when he was young! Ibn Sina wasn't a person that just quote previous scientist sentences! contrariwise one of his bad personality was arrogance to previous scientists like Plato. 2.It is not bright at all; Rob Cole traveled that long way to learn from Ibn Sina, the famous physician that cured cataract disease and many other diseases like that Jewish guy said to him, but what we see from Ibn Sina in this movie? nothing! the awful part is Rob Cole can find people death with a sixth sense or something! so this is a realistic movie? the answer is obvious.

I accept it i really enjoy and same time annoy when i was watching this movie. They just tried to insult Turkish and Muslim people. Especially if u are Christian u can not pass the Muslim's country. This is bullshit. Respect other religion if u want to other people respect yours. And if u publish that kind of movies at least write there it is not real history just imagination. How dare you show Seljuk like a monster. If i am not Turkish i could believe that. And i will pretend Turkish people bad behavior. Please respect other people. I don't want to write more than this. Why they don't allow me to send this review. As a Persian I feel offended by the way Isfahan and it's population are presented. Karim plays lousy and beside the focus on the Jewish families I see no deep dive and intelligence put into the Persian culture (in line with other movies such as 300 or Alexander, kind of a pattern).
