SPOILERS INSIDE
I had pretty high expectations of this movie; it has Scarlett Johanson in it (great actress) and looked good in the previews. Twenty minutes in I realized that the acting seemed amateur, overall. Darius Miles's, especially. The guy had pretty much no feeling in his voice - I think some members of our high school drama club can act better. Scarlett Johanson was fine, but her performance didn't look that great next to all the mediocre actors.
When the two main guy characters were in the bathroom discussing their plan to steal the SAT's and Leonardo Nam made his first appearance, my brothers and I laughed so hard. I know it's stupid humor, but that guy as the Asian stoner Roy was the highlight of the movie for us. The way he talked and the stuff he said was so hilarious. I wouldn't have enjoyed the movie nearly as much of it weren't for him.
The best word to describe this movie is average. When I saw it was put out by MTV I thought, I hope it doesn't suck, then. It is an interesting plot idea that they could've taken so much further and made into a much better movie. The way they tried to get into the character's lives (humanize them as someone else said) seemed very Breakfast Clubish, but more cliché and less thought out. Maybe this is supposed to be The Breakfast club for the new generation, but it just doesn't measure up.
This movie really got me thinking about SAT's. I am a freshman in high school. The movie did a good job showing the reality of doing whatever necessary to get a decent score.
Many parts of the plot were unrealistic. The way they just managed to FIND the SAT scores as easily as they did. I mean, honestly, in real life they would not be nearly that accessible. There were only a few roadblocks. Also, the romance between Francesca and Matty wasn't that realistic either.
A fine movie to watch if you have nothing else to do. It's way better than a TV movie, not boring, and I think it's worth watching just to see Leonardo Nam's performance!

The Perfect Score struggles earnestly to make itself into a Crime Romp--a bunch of teens (who all look 20 something) who steal the answers to the SAT test. As a Robin Hood tale, it just falls flat. The characters never manage to be likeable, justified or believable, and the comedy is muddied with moralizing, and damaged by too many zingers that just aren't delivered well. The characters quickly turn into cliches. I counted three tolerable laughs in this film, and lost track of the banalities.
The one exception to all the above is Leonardo Nam who is easily the best comic in this otherwise slow, drab comedy. I think it may be his fist movie--and I certainly hope it isn't the last.

This movie was awesome, no matter what anyone says. In pretty much every other "teen" movie all of the 17-year-olds are completely trashed the entire time, and are constantly having sex with this person or that person. Thankfully, not everyone is like that, and this movie is about those people, the somewhat normal/somewhat outcast group of kids that each has normal problems and normal concerns. Give me a break, they don't drink beer, they drink RED BULL!! That's real, at least for a lot of highschoolers, and it's the group that never gets represented in the movies except when they want to show the "losers". Not to mention, the story is a pretty good one, seeing as it targets something that a lot of teenagers worry about. The Perfect Score was great, and anyone who doesn't like it, well, I'm sorry it's not another teen movie.

I wish I could speak more highly of it, but I was expecting better from this film. The ads for it made it look somewhat promising, but it really isn't much. In the usual style of MTV, it's a fast-moving, teenage-friendly flick, that ultimately doesn't have much to say.
In the movie, six, somewhat mismatched, high school seniors plot to steal the answers to the SAT from the Princeton Testing Center for their own, various reasons.
The movie had its moments, and would definitely not have made it without the talent of Leonardo Lam (Roy). Scarlett Johansson (Francesca) gives a spotless performance, though one definitely not as memorable as those in Lost in Translation and Girl with a Pearl Earring.
If you liked MTV's past dabbles with film, you're probably going to like this one. Though somewhat crude, it's a good movie to see with your friends on a Friday night. You *will* have fun. But no memorable experiences to be found here.

I think this is actually the worst film I've ever seen. This is mainly because it doesn't even fall into the "so bad that it's good" category: it manages to be absolutely awful without being entertaining.
The diversity in the main characters just looks forced, and the moral message at the end is so obvious, so trite and so predictable that I wanted to beat my head against the wall.
The only reason I even continued watching to the end is that I was with a group of friends. Had it just been me, I'd have stopped it before the half-way mark.
One curiosity about the film, I should add, is that it has a relatively young Scarlett Johansson in it. But even she can't save a film this bad.

This movie was VERY funny. The characters are all very likeable, though some of them were a bit unreal. I could relate to their nervousness over the test and their scores, however. I think all of the characters were excellent actors/actresses, and I would definitely like to see them again.
The plot was very simple, and I liked it that way. There weren't many twists, and it was refreshing to see a movie that isn't about surprises and people getting killed. It was fairly slow and very predictable at some points, but a good joke usually brought it back up to the normal pace and mood. The scripting was nice, and the characters all had good things to say; though many times the dialogue was light and funny. It had a nice tone to it. The camera added just the right edge, and I think I'd definitely like to see it again sometime.

This is a stupid movie but what do you expect from MTV. If you expect otherwise then you are just stupid yourself. Some movies are made for their entertainment value and like it or not this movie is entertaining. There is an age requirement: you have to be able to remember the SATs. (Yes, it is a suck [censor] test!) But here are some bright points:
1) It has some funny moments. 2) It's against the SATs. 3) It's stress relieving... laugh at your fears and stress people! 4) Leonardo Nam is a helluva funny! (Go my non-martial arts acting asian brother!)
So see it knowing its dumb but just sit back and relax. It's a fun movie. :D To heck with all the movies with deep messages. Have some fun!

I am very disappointed. Heartbroken even. I started watching expecting a chris evans and scarlett johansson romance, instead they both ended up with different people. I guess their relationships were adequate BUT NO WHERE NEAR AS GOOD AS CHRIS AND SCARLETTS WOULDV'E BEEN! Disappointed.
