The Peanut Butter Solution

Agree entirely with what the other guy wrote, peanut butter solution is one of those movies that you watched when you're a kid and want to tell the world about it now but just can't quite get the title off the end of your tongue. I asked heaps of people and nobody knew... And then it hits you! Seriously one of the most bizarre movies you'll ever watch but it will never leave you. It's definitely one of those movies that you just don't quite 'get' when you're a kid but it has that ability to always make you smile when you think back about it.. Truly a classic from the 80's!!! It's even still good enough to let your kids of today watch it.. Although they may end up calling you a dag at the end of it because you're also sitting cross legged a metre away from the screen next to em ;)

"The Peanut Btter Solution" was a weird, strange movie that I saw on telly when I was quite young. For the life of me, I could NEVER find it anywhere. It is one of those movies that stays with you forever, and going to my medical appointment and happened to walk past a little shop that had really obscure DVDs, and lo and behold, "The Peanut Butter Solution" was there!!!! Absolutely awesome movie, will never part with it.

I don't remember most of the plot line of this movie. All I can remember is that one kid puts the peanut butter on so he could grow pubic hair. There is a scene on a soccer field where the main character's hair starts stretching out across the whole field. This literally made me sick. Not scared sick, just nauseous. It looked disgusting. The pubic hair portion of the movie was really awkward too. I have never been able to get that soccer scene out of my mind. I never wanted to see this movie again, now I'm a little curious though, I'm not sure if I'll watch it again because that scene bothered me so much but I'm tempted to, just to see if it's as bad as I remember. I'm also glad I'm not the only one that remembers this movie, no one knows what I'm talking about when I mention it either.

i don't even remember how old I was when I saw The Peanut Butter Solution, but its memory has stayed with me and recurred for at least 15-17 years. This movie is genius, and seriously TRULY scary, and kids and adults should all see it, but for kids its better because you don't have pretensions yet so it will mess you up. As a child, it makes you think of the creepiest, most messed up things: men randomly appearing in your kitchen and intellectually seducing you, factories with children in cages while other children make paintbrushes out of their trapped comrades continuously growing hair... kidnap, being ostracized from your peers, permanently ... pubic growth... death, doom, and existential peril.. yeah, it's completely grim. which is what makes it such a great kids' flick. other movies cast a glow on even terrifying experiences. this movie makes you realize quickly, even as a child, that life is so thoroughly bleak that you will even try putting peanut butter mixed with a bunch of gross crap all over your head to make it better.

I never watched this as a child...as a matter of fact, I had never heard of it until seeing it listed on a cable movie channel. I can understand how a young child could freak after watching this and never want another haircut. The most bizarre part of the plot is the little Asian boy finding out about the secret potion and putting it on 'down there' to develop hair. The scene where the pubes creep out of his shorts is extremely weird and you wonder what the point was. Bottom line...not a movie for kids, or adults. Everyone else can enjoy it!

This movie should have been a top seller, and also agrees with me is my wife Christine Walters. There's nothing better than human hair paint brushes and peanut butter mixed together to make a picture come alive. When I was five, it was my all time favorite movie. I've been disappointed for many years that I haven't been able to find this classic film on video. They should release it on DVD as well! My favorite part of the film is when the boys hair was growing through out the house, and the man was cutting it off to turn the hair into paint brushes. I did feel sorry for the boy at the beginning of the movie when he lost his hair due to his disease. I wish I had one of those paint brushes to paint a better place to live. I wish we had a copy for our child to be, and I hope that someday they will come out with a sequel! I give this movie two thumbs up!!

I totally agree that the movie is not a comedy and not for children. I can't think of a darker film. I saw this as a child and have vividly horrible memories of the scene where he gets his wig yanked off in the soccer game. All the imagery taps into a child's deepest fears. Even the gooey quality of the peanut butter itself and spreading it all over your head. And the orphanage / sweatshop where they starve the children. I had nightmares of being trapped in there.It's just so wrong. It would probably seem campy to watch now, but the original impact my psyche is irreversible. It's so funny that literally everyone in the forums had the same experience. I've never seen such unanimity in on IMDb.

I'm not gonna lie, this is probably one of the funniest movies I have ever scene. To really get something out of the Peanut Butter Solution, you have to watch it in the right mindset. You cannot watch this movie seriously, hoping to see a great film; you have to watch it knowing that it is so bad and so goofy in order to really enjoy it. I watched this movie when I was really little all the time and somehow the title stuck with me. I decided to rent it and watch it again recently. It was honestly the funniest thing I have ever scene. I can't even count all of the hysterical scenes that are in this movie; ranging from Connies pubic hair hanging out from his pant leg like a horses main as he skips along the crosswalk to the inspirational speech Michael gives in school, "I want to be educated. Not just hairy." If you have no idea what I'm talking about you will just have to get this movie and check it out in the right mindset. The funniest thing I have ever seen.

A lovely trip down memory lane. I saw this film when I was a child of seven, again when I was ten and snippets of this film have followed me ever since. I just finished watching the film again moments ago, the first time as an adult. Now, this film was somewhat frightening when I was seven, it does have some spooky elements, I don't recommend it for young children. I do feel however that this movie does deserve a second look by adults. The acting isn't award winning, and the special effects certainly wouldn't stand up to today's standards, however this film does have a unique premise and the dialog rarely comes off as childish, this isn't really a childs movie and I feel it was mis-marketted as one. One notable point about this film for most Canadians in their twenties and thirties will recognize several faces from other Canadian films and television from the early 1980's. This film was produced in english, the first film released by La Fete that I am aware of, to be produced in english not just dubbed over. If you enjoyed this film I also recommend watching The Dog that Stopped the War (1984) a great film put out by La Fete immediately before the Peanut Butter Solution. The Dog who Stopped the War can also be found by its original french title Guerre des tuques, La (1984).

Like many others, I saw this movie when I was around 10 or so, which was 15 years ago. At the time, it was the worst movie I ever saw. I actually was depressed for a week or so after watching it because it was so bad. As huge a movie buff as I am now, and even after 15 years, this remains the worst movie I have ever seen. This even surpasses "Shark Attack 2" and "Night of the Lepus." The only saving grace for this film is that it's an English film, so you can't really expct too great of a movie. Very very very bad movie.
