I have to say I am really getting impressed with Van Damme, and his new movies. The last movie I saw was 'The Replicant', and I was really impressed by the plot, and some of the action sequences.
Van Damme's acting has also dramatically improved. Therefore I was hoping that this movie would be even better, and will show Van Damme's exceptional martial arts "talent", which was missing in almost all his movies, i.e 'Universal Soldier, The Return' (cheap plot,acting,actors,etc..).
But boy!!...this movie really delivered. Van Damme is really back!!, and he has really out done himself. Kicks dont get any straighter than in this movie, and traditional flying kicks are also back (trademark for Van Damme).
He has also included a lot of the old martial arts cast, like the Mongol, and the Spanish 'kicker' in 'The Quest'. Acting was really good by him and the surrounding cast, and the plot is really interesting. I don't want to reveal any details, as it will be a real spoiler for a very good action movie.
All I can say is that it will leave you in suspense, for a good part of the movie. Has some good cultural values (authenticity), and quite an original plot. Actions buffs will really like this, and Van Damme fans (such as myself) will not at all be disappointed. Very sharp, quick, decent, and smart.

Honestly, I bought this movie at Wal-Mart, as it was in the $5.50 bin and it looked like something that I would enjoy making fun of. It sat around for quite a while before I eventually popped it in to view it and to have a field day making fun of it. However, I didn't hate it. In fact, I rather enjoyed it. Yes, the film is filled with all sorts of different action cliches, but it is an enjoyable film if you don't try to analyze it and just enjoy it for what it is. The film has some good heart to it and the filmmakers themselves give off the impression that they enjoyed making this movie too. I would not advise anyone to go out of their way to see this, but if you stumble onto it, watch it with low expectations and you won't be let down.
