There are very few of us twenty-somethings who grew up without the Muppets. Between Sesame Street, Muppet Show reruns, and videocassettes of the various Muppet movies, we saw these guys all the time. We even had one or two theatrical releases of our own during the '90s. (My personal favorite of those is The Muppet Christmas Carol, which is still annual holiday viewing.) In recent years, since the very underwhelming Muppets from Space, we've seen them pop up now and again, mostly in similarly underwhelming TV projects and in short (yet hilarious!) YouTube videos. I am quite happy to say that, in this newest movie, the Muppets are back in a big way! The movie starts by introducing us to a new Muppet, Walter, and his strangely human brother Gary. Gary has planned a trip with his girlfriend, Mary, to Los Angeles, and he is taking Walter along to visit the home of his heroes, Muppet Studios. They find the studio to be in disrepair, and hear of an evil plot to destroy it. Can the Muppets, and everything we hold dear about them, be saved? To get my one complaint out of the way, I do feel that this movie was a bit rushed in places. I wanted more time with these awesome characters, and it did feel as if they were trying to get from one place to the next a bit too quickly. That said, I spent nearly the entire movie with a smile on my face. These are the Muppets that I grew up with, doing what they are best at doing, with that gently edgy humor at which they have always excelled. While there are some moments that are very touching, it is mostly very funny, with lots of nods to The Muppet Show and The Muppet Movie. While new little Muppet fans should enjoy this, it will be much more meaningful to those who have a history with Kermit and Co. Clearly made with love for Jim Henson and his creations of fur and felt, The Muppets is the most delightful movie I've seen in theaters this year.

I was never a big fan of The Muppets, but this movie is special. It gives a nostalgic vibe and an ultimate comeback for the Muppets. I loved the references they made to their TV show, and their previous movies. The jokes were hilarious. The musical numbers were decent. While growing up, Gary and Walter (who is actually a Muppet himself) become obsessed with The Muppets Show. Gary plans a Hollywood Anniversary vacation for his girlfriend, Mary, but Walter comes along too to see the Muppet Theater. When he hears that Tex Richman plans to destroy the theater for oil, Walter tracks down each of the Muppets to help raise #10,000,00 to save the theater and put on the ultimate Muppet Show. Join Kermit, Miss Piggy, Fozzie, Gonzo, Animal, Rowlf, Swedish Chef, Rizzo, and the rest for the biggest comeback in Muppet history. If you grew up with the show, you'll definitely love THE MUPPETS!!!

The Muppet's just aren't the same under Disney ownership. There's so much Disney product & cast placement in this movie to make you sick, and the Muppet's are now a side act to a live-action story. On a good note; the film inspired me to purchase the original 3 movies as well as the old Muppet shows on DVD. Old fans will feel some nostalgia with the new movie, but you'll get a MUCH better experience going back to the roots of it all. Summary: A few laughs, but the acting is very dry. The music just doesn't seem to fit in most places and is sometimes cringe-worthy. Possibly a good experience for newcomers and young-uns, but it wasn't my cup of tea.

This film is about the Muppets having to raise ten million dollars in a charity show, in order to save the Kermit's house from being torn down by an investor. "The Muppets" is a lot better than I anticipated. It has a simple plot, but it is sweet and engaging because it tells a tale of friendship and love. Walter is a sweet puppet, and most people can relate to his love for his idols because we have been through that stage as well. There is also romantic relationships and friendships among the puppets too. It is a really human film, even though it is acted by puppets! The surprise cameos of Whoopi Goldberg and Selena Gomez are very funny too, their lines are so funny!

Disney (with a little help of Jason Segel) bring The Muppets back to the big screen and re-introduce them to an audience that knew and loved them first time round while also setting them up for new viewers. It has all the warmth and charm you'd expect to see in a kids film while also smartly not taking itself too seriously. The songs are good and Man Or A Muppet lives up to the hype. The characters are as endearing as ever and Disney do justice to Henson's classic creations. The story has it's problems and in five years time some of the people who appear in cameos will have faded from memory but for 2012 audiences they work. I'm no Jason Segel fan but you can't fault him for the sheer enthusiasm that he brings to the film and is supported well by Amy Adams who does this sort of film in her sleep. If you like the Muppets or just want a good family film then this could be the one for you.

Gary (Jason Segel), Mary (Amy Adams), and Walter try to reunite the Muppets for one last show to save the Muppet Theater from Tex Richman (Chris Cooper) drilling for oil under the Theater. Jason Segel and Amy Adams make for a super cute couple. The songs are fun. It's a cute musical. It's part musical, part road movie, but the oil storyline isn't that funny. It feels too serious and too awkward. I'd prefer something much more lighter. Overall, it's a cute fun movie. In short, it's a great Muppets movie. And it's nice to see the group back together on the big screen.

It's not often we get to watch a film we can all enjoy but with the Muppet movie we did - the youngest, twins aged 7, wanted more muppets (and who can blame them), and the older, aged 9, loved it from beginning to end. It's full of nostalgic moments and yes we too get that Jason Siegel dominates the film but the songs were fun, the sense of hope and triumph invigorating, and it did what you hoped for - bought up old, happy memories, and created some new ones. All in all, if you're looking for a family film you can all enjoy then the Muppets certainly fits the bill - just wish there had been enough more silliness from the Muppets themselves, but we really enjoyed it.

This movie is by far the best I have seen all year. It has a lot of humor in it ( a lot that appeals to the older viewer as the Muppet have never been just for children). The new character both human and Muppets (Walter is amazing) have a lot of heart to them. THis will be the first movie in over ten years that I will happily see more than once in theaters. It is a very emotional movie that makes us feel for these characters made of felt. The music is very memorable too. Jason Seagal is very clearly a Muppet fan, and you can tell by watching this film that all involved wanted to capture and preserve the old Muppet magic from the time of Jim Henson. This is by far my favorite Muppet movie since the Great Muppet Caper. The Muppets are back and hopefully we will see more in the future.

My insatiable love for this movie's only grows with each viewing. The musical numbers are fantastic (Life's a Happy Song is maybe in my top 10 film numbers ever), the emotions are unexpectedly potent (Rainbow Connection & Pictures in My Head beautifully touch on my longing-for-childhood nerve), & the constant stream of sincerely hilarious jokes make it one of the great comedies of the '10s.
