So many artists feel that if they could just get the right mentor their career success would finally reflect their level of passion. The Mentor takes this idea and runs with it in a very entertaining way. It's full of twists and turns, it's fun to watch, and it has an added level of authenticity because of its location in Oakland, CA. Some solid acting by the leads and great filmmaking by the director all add up to an indie you'll be glad you watched.

It's rare for me to enjoy a movie about the film business, as they're often too self-indulgent, but "The Mentor" is original and insightful. The film biz is simply a backdrop, although being familiar with the industry will aid in understanding terminology, motivation, and plot. On the other hand, if you don't know about the film business, it's a way to learn about it while you enjoy a well-written, and wonderfully-acted caper film. Great job.

This was some great entertainment! The Mentor is a quirky, well-written film with so many moments for laughter, but at the same time, suspense. It was enjoyable and fun to watch and had me glued to the screen. Well shot and well acted! Bravo to the filmmakers!

Very delightfully written script that the actresses and actors intertwine around you to guide you through the movie. It is unlike anything I have watched before. The masks, the soundtrack, and the visual imagery of being in Oakland, combined with the intellectually emotive of well acted and beautifully written words created a sensory experience that drew you in and asked you to stay.

While filmmakers will get more of the references, you don't have to be one to enjoy this Indie film. There are plenty of plot twists and quirky dark humor to keep you watching until the end.

Here's a fun little indie film that goes in a bunch of unexpected directions. Loved the location shots in Oakland and the lead girl is very likable. It's original and worth checking out. Especially if you're an aspiring filmmaker.

A work from the heart, this dark comedy thriller is writer/director Moez Solis' first feature film. An art house vibe, this film has a witty dialogue and engaging performances while remaining a fun, wild ride. The story itself has something for everyone with a meta look at the struggle of artists working to break into the elite world of filmmaking is totally enjoyable on the level of adventurous comedic thriller. It's hard to classify. This film will stay with you long after it's over.

A nice little Indie flick that was greatly entertaining from start to finish. The acting was strong, especially the two female leads, and there were more twists and turns than a mountain road, It never got stale, drawn out or boring. Action packed and a strong outing from the writer and director of the film. Great fun that is highly recommended,

Writer and director Moez Solis has made the ultimate film for filmmakers. This often funny and often dark-comedy/thriller is set in the amazing location of Oakland California. With Snappy dialogue, great performances from its cast, and a reflexive look at the world of filmmaking itself, Solis's film explores all the cliches and tropes of filmmaking and its many frustrations. The film also boasts an excellent score and an amazing soundtrack by many local Bay Area bands. Tight camera work and high production value belie the low-budget reality of this film. I highly recommend this first feature from a local Oakland director that promises not to disappoint!
