The Heist isn't one of those films which I would watch intentionally but, would watch if there was literally nothing else to do. It lacks story, humour and the films ending is too predictable. The film doesn't even seem to be interesting from the start but I have to give it a fair judgment so I plowed on through it. The actors involved are brilliant, marvelous actors! Morgan Freeman and Christopher Walken are two of my favourite actors two of lived but William H. Macy is absolutely dreadful in this film and as an actor. This is one of the films main faults as the actor tried to be funny yet failed terribly. I think Christopher Walken made up for the film as he was one of the lead roles and not a side character. Film was okay, funny moments with Morgan Freeman and dramatic scenes with Christopher Walken, but William H. Macy is useless in every single way which is why I would give this film: 6/10

We watched this last night on tv. The beginning is almost surreal, with Christopher Walken just standing. Almost immobile staring at the picture in the gallery. Then we meet Morgan Freeman; single, talented, camp, then the weird character of William H Macey.. Anyway the fact that these guys are getting on in years and the way they find each other and hatch the plot to steal the works of art is very well done. Morgan Freeman and Christopher Walken make the greatest impact, William H Macey was similar to the character he played in Mystery Men, but still very good. So a very engaging film, three fine actors showcasing their talents and some great moments of humour. Recommended!

I did not know this film at all when it screened one night on TV. I was a bit puzzled at not knowing it given the cast of Christopher Walken, Morgan Freeman and William H. Macy with Marcia Gay Harden adding to the mix. They are all great in this film which reminds me of Donald E. Westlake adaptations like The Hot Rock and The Bank Job. Like them it has great, if hapless, characters, some smart dialogue and clever plotting. Three art gallery guards are shocked to hear that their gallery's contents have basically been sold en masse to a Danish gallery. Each guard has an obsession about a particular favourite piece of their own and they decide that 'their' favourites must be stolen rather than sent all the way to Denmark. It dies not go precisely to plan. Altogether a pleasure to come across a film like this one night on the TV.

Don't expect an Oscar....but fun flick all around!!! Love William H. Macy as always. Morgan Freeman is great and CW....actually shows a sensitive side..... Fun Movie!!!! I would watch again.

Funny film to spend 90 minutes...the ending is not what one expects... Or maybe it is.

This was a "whatever you want" grab from Redbox when the better half didn't steer me in any particular direction. Having subjected her to a fair amount of conspiracy type movies lately, I though "comedy heist" might play out a bit different and it does. There is nothing too remarkable here ... as others have pointed out ... but if you do enjoy seeing the three male leads mixing it up a bit, then you will probably find this a reasonable 90 minutes of your time and certainly it is worth a Redbox rental. Though it is quickly obvious what is going on, a sequence at the beginning still entertains a bit and it is interesting to see how the heist plays out at the end. The interior of the movie has some quirky moments, but nothing spectacular. Others have made note of the blue collar concept and in the end ... it is a blue collar husband-wife relationship that allows the heist to continue to it's logical end.

The thing that bothers me the most is that you have to let an oil painting dry for 6 months before you can varnish it and even if you don't varnish it it takes a month for the oil paint to dry so not very realistic in the time frame they had.

I enjoy watching Morgen Freeman and Christopher Walken in a movie, but this movie was very boring. The movie wasn't funny at all and the story was super flat, not much happened in the movie. I do not recommend the movie.
