Asinine comedy showing that Emma Thompson, the actress who signs the anti-Israel petitions in real life and Pierce Brosnan, aren't really adept at comedy at all. The story line deals with an upper class divorced couple who discover that all their assets have literally been taken from them by a young shrewd man who bought the company that her husband works for. All the employees are up the creek, or it appears that way. Naturally, Brosnan and Thompson team up to gain revenge on the man who has just married. They go to France to steal valuable diamonds and come into all sorts of comical situations, many of whom are inane and ridiculous.

Emma Thomson said in the publicity interviews for this film that it marked a return of films that made you happy from start to finish. Sadly I can't agree with this sentiment as for me 'The Love Punch' was nothing more than four very good actors doing highly irrational things. It has a flimsy and improbable plot and then tries to be a middle aged version of Oceans Eleven, with a healthy dose of Pink Panther thrown in for good measure. Why didn't they get a lawyer involved? Why are they so happy for their son to regularly break the law through hacking? For a film that is supposed to be going against the gross out comedy grain why are there so many sexual jokes? All these questions and more remain unanswered in this flimsy film's relatively short running time. It's a great shame that director Joel Hopkins and Emma Thomson couldn't follow up their previous collaboration (Last Chance Harvey) with something of equal standard.

I just love Pierce Brosan just like so many people out there i am also a big fan of him ever since i saw him as James Bond in his all four outings from golden eye till die another day he did great films before bond and even after the bond era but since last 3 years he is been doing comedy films a lot i do like him in these type of roles but this time the script lacks many things specially for Brosnan's character people go to watch Brosnan film expecting some Good stuff but if its not something worth it fans are left with disappointment all i have to says is almost everything is forced in this film. Written and directed by Joel Hopkins this British french production did not even garnered much positive reviews from critics as well as audience members the sole reason is repeat attempt to include the spy/heist storyline in the project like makers try to include bond references in the films he is given i mean he is done playing bond give it a rest in this film a lot of homage can be spotted easily the opening sequence where Brosnan and Emma are drinking and the bartender was doing shaken not stirred thing. Many filmmakers do that even i would try to do it if i was a filmmaker everyone is a 007 fan forever but it is better to try not to do this some people will argue that these little things do not matter well i disagree it does even the actors don't like these attempts i liked the film its got some hilarious moments like one guy starts to * pierce immediately whistles and yells at him making him notice that he can be watched via computer camera while the jokes were funny but there comes a point when it is overdone i mean Brosnan in a Texas accent that is just ridiculous. The Plot:Kate and Richard are divorced but when the company Richard works for cheats him Richard and Kate try to steal the precious diamond the owner gave it to his girlfriend. The Cast:once again Pierce Brosnan looks awesome here despite the age he is so smooth but he needs to be careful next time this type of move can kill a career as for Emma Thompson she should stop overacting Tupence Middleton & Louise Bourgoin give their best performances. Overall The Love Punch 2013 is a film with one weird angle that never works but it is only worth checking out for Pierce Brosnan my rating is 4/10.

This film was written in the 1960s several times; then again in the 1970s and even again in the 1980s for some old actors who needed to look funny and sexy still. It's the perfect piece of dross that you'd see on a flight and stick with because your defenses are down. On land, and with plenty of oxygen to the brain, there is no excuse to suffer this series of worn out clichés and stale moves. Brosnan is perfectly at ease in this soggy soufflé, Thompson less so; she seems a schoolteacher who is slightly ashamed at doing this. The other actors all hack their way through the formula of inferior scenes and dialog. It's so utterly lazy that the creative team might have used their time better by dozing on the couch and watching old movies.

Grumphy old couples arguing at each other. Poor soundtrack. Poor photography. Lack of script constance. Few not realistic stunt scenes since the actors are very old. ANNOYING COMMUNIST REFERENCES. BORING. Run away. What the hell is wrong with this people. If you are a communist go live in Russia, Cuba, Venezuela. Stop pretending you don't like good wine, champagne and all the good stuff. Kate and Richard are amiably divorced following Richard's fling with a younger woman, when a French corporate raider asset-strip's Richard's company, leaving them with no assets or pension. They determine to exact financial reparation by way of stealing an enormously valuable diamond from the raider's forthcoming wedding on the French Riviera, aided and abetted by their friends and neighbours Jerry and Penelope. Shenanigans ensue. This is a light and frothy romp, a mildly farcical romcom crossed with a caper movie. Pierce Brosnan and Emma Thompson have good chemistry and are very believable as Richard and Kate, and Celia Imrie and Timothy Spall are equally good in the smaller roles of the friends/neighbours. All four principals are having noticeably good fun. The plot is nonsense, of course - it falls apart completely under close examination - but it is perfectly adequate as a vehicle for some amusing moments, likable performances, and amusing dialogue. The settings are bright and colourful - incredibly unusual these days - and the movie as a whole is undemandingly enjoyable. My one reservation is that there are a couple of completely unnecessary F-bombs in the dialogue, although they are somewhat buried and may easily be missed.

Review: This film is really bad. The storyline is completely ridiculous and Brosnan and Thompson make fools out of themselves. The chemistry between the two characters isn't bad, but it's not enough to make the movie enjoyable. Basically, Pierce Brosnan's business gets taken from him so he tries to get the business back with the help of Thompson who also has personal investments in the business. After failing terribly at that task, they decide to steal a precious diamond from the person who took his business, and that's were the storyline just goes from bad to worse. In some ways, it's a light hearted feel good movie that is totally not to be taken seriously, but on the basis of entertainment, I just didn't find it funny the characters got on my nerves after a while. Disappointed! Round-Up: After seeing many interviews with Emma Thompson, this movie does suit her humorous personality which is full of wit, but the script was terrible and I'm sure that everyone would be stealing a diamond if it was so easy. I am quite a fan of Pierce Brosnan but he seems to be taking on some weird roles lately, like The Long Way Down and Love Is All You Need. I'm hoping that his career will take a turn like Liam Neeson who has blossomed in the latter part of his career. It's basically down to the roles that he picks because his performances are usually quite good. I know that he's trying to get rid of the whole Bond typecasting, but I can't wait to see him kicking butt again. At the end of the day, I doubt that this movie will damage all of the work that Thompson and Brosnan has done in the past, but they could do with a major blockbuster as there next projects. One of the worst movies I have ever seen, I even signed up to write this review, it was that bad. Implausible, ridiculous, stupid, cheesy, bad, bad, bad. I watched it all as I really could not believe that such good actors would lower themselves to this trash, even they could not lift this rubbish. Did I mention that this movie was bad? Have given it 1 because there is not an option to give 0 The humour was terrible, the plot ridiculous, the way ordinary people became criminals a joke, Timothy Spalls character stupid. Everything was bad, bad, bad. If ever you think of watching this movie, don't. I have to write a few more words to reach the limit, so I write BAD BAD BAD, REALLY BAD

So I this trailer a few weeks a go and I liked what I saw, it looked funny and entertaining. The movie itself isn't too bad either; the story is basically a divorced couple have to venture to France to steal a diamond because the owner has stole all their money via his company. The premise is nice and simple, a tad boring in places as they use one or two cliché scenes that you get in these types of films; the beginning is a bit slow and some of the jokes fall a bit flat but by the time the plot gets going it's quite enjoyable, the humor is classic British humor mixed with some modern stuff as well which makes a nice blend of funny, the characters were a amusing to watch and although I wasn't invested in their troubles I enjoyed watching them go about the heist. The shots were nice as they showed lots of France and gave the feel of it with the French music played over the scenes. All-in-all I think the older generation will get more out of it that than others but as a young person I enjoyed the majority of it.
