Comparisons with Ludlums the Bourne identity are inevitable, but this is far better than that movie. Dialogue between the two leads sparkles, and the action shots just keep on coming. Go see it!

Everything I read said that this movie was a "reel" stinker...but my sister convinced me otherwise and we watched the whole thing together one night. We laughed "...making an assumption makes an ass out of you and umption.", we were nervous (won't spoil that part) and we cheered our butts off (won't spoil that part either). Jackson's lame jokes are so bad that they're funny. And when "Charly" exposes herself for medicine, I almost peed my pants laughing. I liked it so much that I bought my own copy and watch it almost monthly. It just keeps getting better and better...

Well, if you're looking for THE action movie, that's the one. Great stunts, great explosions, great killings and it's all fun!

To be honest it's a very hard choice between LKG and Big Lebowski but they are two different genres so it's like apples & oranges but if I HAD to choose (because some crazy person is making me) then I've got to give it to Long KISS Goodnight!!! 😘Thanks Geana Davis & SLJ

Renny Harlin directs Shane Black's story of an amnesiac searching for her past life. School teacher and mom Samantha Caine(Geena Davis)after losing memory of the last eight years of her life hires an ethical questionable private investigator Mitch Hennessey(Samuel L. Jackson)to reclaim her past. Cain slowly gets her memory jogged and realizes that she is really Charly Baltimore, a rough and tumble CIA operative who is now the target of serious bad guys wanting her silenced...for good. Plenty of thrills and explosive action. Some clever humor helps glue the story together. And there is also the effective soundtrack featuring the likes of Elvis Presley, Santana, Dean Martin and Jars of Clay. The more than apt cast is rounded out with David Morse, Tom Amandes, Brian Cox and Patrick Malahide. This action packed thriller is well worth your while. And I now have a new found appreciation for Davis.

A woman (Geena Davis) suffering from amnesia begins to recover her memories after trouble from her past finds her again. So this was apparently an attempt by Geena Davis' husband (not Jeff Goldblum) to get her career jump-started and bring her into action films. Well, did it work? Maybe, maybe not. This is not a bad film and has its share of fans, so it has a certain level of success. But by no means do I think of Geena Davis as an action star, or really much of anything beyond the 1980s. (I think she's great, but the fact remains her biggest hits were in the 1980s.) What makes this movie better than average is Sam Jackson. Sincerely. When he first arrives and talks about the butt pounding in prison... that is classic Jackson.

The two stars Geena and Samuel make the greatest pair to hookup for action and suspense,.. Geena Davis is heroically awesome. And Samuel Jackson, the perfect scaredy cat partner. I loved them both. For a 90's action, and, I never tire of this movie all the way up to May 26, 2021. I'm onnit now (smiley face)

Not since "Thelma and Louise" since Geena Davis has gone to the extreme! Davis stars as Samantha, or Charly as the CIA knows her. Samantha is an amnesiatic housewife who, after a brutal attack on her and her family by a deranged killer, realizes that she was once a cold-blooded assassin as well! So, Samantha hires a wisecracking, blues-singing p.i. by the name of Mitch (played by the always-awesome Samuel L. Jackson) to help her recover her past memory. On the way they run into trigger happy terrorists. "The Long Kiss Goodnight" is one of those bloody exploitation flicks that has a pretty good storyline going. Sure, it might sound absurd, but the plot works. Plus, Davis and Jackson are a gem together, along with Craig Bierko as the psycho Timothy. The pyrotechnics are spectacula

As previously noted in other reviews, the title is probably what originally made me skip this movie, much like Rob Reiner's The Princess Bride did; it sounds like a chick flick. Luckily, my sisters turned me onto the Princess Bride, and I likewise accidentally happened upon The Long Kiss Goodnight on HBO or some other Premium channel years ago. I've since seen it at least 10 times, probably more. Geena Davis is wonderful as she transforms from the perfect little town soccer Mom type back into Charly. The return of her "skills" along the way make it a great action movie, and Samuel Jackson plays a great sidekick, and has some great one-liners on top of the regular banter of his already smart ass conman character. Supporting actors are great, as well. Highly recommended guy (and gal) action movie. At this point, it's probably as cheap to buy as it would be to rent for an evening. Buy it; you'll watch it more than once.
