I am still going to rate this t.v series a 10 because it is on Disney Junior and is geared towards younger viewers which it has done. My 3 and 2 year old ask me all day long to watch "Lion Guard". However I feel they are to young to understand anything really going on.
On the other hand I myself was not to happy watching the movie. Kiara seems to be spoiled or snobby. This is not how she was in the second movie. She was sweet, caring and understanding. Simba also seemed a little snobby and not as protective of his cubs. Don't you remember in the second movie Kiara was like fully grown and finally going on her first hunt that was the first time Simba let her out of his sight? Then why did she have to wait for Simba to come? Not to mention in the second movie when Kiara was a cub the outlands where filled with lions that still believed in Scar and that where angry with Simba and they stated that the hyenas all left. I keep asking what is that roar supposed to really do? I don't like the fact they made it like a magical gift, wish they kept it like natural like the original movies. I really do want a Lion King 4 but I would like to see what happens to Kovu and Kiara where the 2nd movie left off at. Really the only thing that I was really happy with was the fact that the original voice of Mufasa was in the movie. I also like Kion's song, and zukka zamma, but I don't really like Bunga.
Again this cartoon is geared towards young children and I still give it a 10/10 because my kids love this show.

This is like the android version of The Lion King.
You exploited the touching father and son moment between Simba and Mufasa. Completely trashed it. It became absolutely meaningless. Where was the crying? Where was the "aha" moment? He was dead once, and then he magically, spiritually reconnected with grieving and guilt ridden Simba. THAT'S IT. It was a great plot twist that melted our hearts but it's over.
Milked it way too hard bro.
And now Kiara is being stampeded by large herbivores? It's like you stuck the original The Lion King in the DVD player and pressed reverse, Except this time, you bought it off the black market. Bt dubs, very inconsistent. Like, I don't know what family issues ya'll have, but I don't care if you're out there protecting the pride lands, you pitch up to your sister's coronation which featured in the lion king 2. And remember when Kiara wasn't allowed hunting, even when she was like 35 years old? So now she gets to go out culling gazelles? With her FRIENDS? Nah Fam, she was lonelier than the last chip in the Mac Donald's take away bag.
You know, I live in Africa, and I don't know how the animals over there in Trumpland look like, but they certainly don't look like a glitch in Zoo Tycoon. And where are the elephants? Oh, they were there? I couldn't tell cause all that was covering the screen were these massive blobs of WASTE. Also, what is this 'trying-too-hard' vocabulary that makes me want to strap Ariana Grande's new album to my ears? Like, we have 60+ official languages, so trust me, producers, we aren't that desperate for new ones. You're not even from the continent Africa, you can't just come along with your little yet very beautiful and respectful flag and claim the main lands. Ay-be-ka-bisa? Zoo-ka-zaba? THE HELL DOES THAT MEAN. IS THIS ANOTHER MARVEL TRASH MOVIE? NOOOO. IT'S AN ALL TIME CLASSIC FROM MY CHILDHOOD. That you have just ruined, Disney. Thanks.
Thanks for ruining my childhood.

I am a massive Disney fan and can be pretty forgiving towards everything they do. For the most part Disney makes some of the best movies I have ever seen but unfortunately this is not one of them. It has all the same characters from the original movie and a few new ones but everything seems a little forced. For example "Stop trying to make Zuka Zama happen! It's not going to happen!" The Lion King was an organic process that just happened to work and The Lion Guard: Return of the Roar does not come close to it's potential.
It feels overall pretty childish and slightly lame. I'm sure kids will love it but everyone else will miss that special charismatic charm. So while I don't hate the movie if you're not a big Disney fan then you probably won't enjoy it. I will still stay tuned for the new series but I'm not hugely optimistic just yet.

you guys should have based the lion guard after Kiara and Kovu's kids not Simba's because the lion king 2 was already made i wish the people that made this would have sat down first and watched the movies before make this TV series . so next to time you people want to ruin the classics. don't do it and watch your movies before the wrong mix up happens anymore. so please i beg you stop and think before you guys make a TV series to mess up our minds. Please don't do it anymore. please make me proud to let my daughter watch a TV show that's got the right info in it. so please good shows like you did from the beginning i will be really happy if you take everybody's opinion to heart from now on.

I loved the Lion King when it came out, but I've never lost sight of the simple fact that its story is extremely biased and human-centric: lions good, hyenas bad. This is purely based on human views of the two animals and not at all on their behavior or society. In the wild, hyenas have a complex pack culture dominated by females where, in hard times, they still look after the young first. They are not just scavengers but alpha predators; however, because of their appearance and sound, we revile them. Lions, on the other hand, can be pretty cowardly and callous, and in hard times have been known to kill their cubs to survive, yet are held up as grand and noble beasts based purely on their appearance.
So here we are again with more of the same. Pretty, 'fun' animals good: check. The heroes are a lion, a honey badger, a cheetah, a hippo, and some variety of insect-eating bird. Never mind that hippos are notoriously aggressive and rather disgusting animals, and one of the most feared creatures in Africa.
Ugly animals bad: check. So far the antagonists we have seen include the hyenas, a vulture, and a crocodile. At least in the original movie we had a bad lion and a good warthog (and Poombah is still around, but I think he falls on the side of 'gross is funny').
Also, the Lion Guard consists of five members, only one of which is female, and the leader is naturally male even though it is a female character, his sister, being groomed for leadership. Well, okay, at least his sister is being groomed for leadership, but another female lion cub acted like a stereotypical girl, whining over a broken claw, bugs, and every other little thing, and the sister just had to hurt herself and be rescued.
Oh, and we get casual racism. Simba chastises his son for even thinking of bring non-lions into his Lion Guard. Though the son's decision is eventually vindicated and upheld, this was a very disappointing thing to see from Simba, a character who should know better after his long associating with a certain warthog and meerkat duo.
There's also a lot of music, at least in the pilot. We get a song that is clearly meant to be a successor to Hakuna Matata without really explaining much, and a lot of other songs featuring quite a few trite lyrics that go well with the trite dialogue when they're not singing. The songs and dialogue both seem to rely a lot on repetition to make their points. There's also the frequent scattering of catch phrases throughout; each character seems to have their own African, or perhaps pseudo-African, catchphrase or phrases, which they use with great regularity.
Ultimately, I am unimpressed. This show goes to great lengths to hit all of the old clichรฉs. I could practically just run down a checklist of them. In fact, I believe I just did.

As a fan of Lion King, I am very disappointed. First off this movie is only 44 minutes. A movie is normally an hour. The new voices for the characters are horrible. Rob Lowe for Simba was a horrible choice. This film looks somewhat low budget. They could have at least kept the same voice actors and actresses from the previous movies. I think there should have been a different plot instead making it seem like Simba is against a different animal crew. The hyenas even look different. They don't look normal at all. What I don't understand is how and when did lion came about Because lion king 2 Kiara was a cub and grew up to be an adult and where was Kion? He was not in the second one. So for him to become a leader in the lion guard shouldn't he be an older adult lion? The plot is most definitely weird and you can not pinpoint where the time line is being held. This is not a movie I will recommend for anyone to see. I could not enjoyed it as much as I did with the first two Lion Kings. I'm pretty sure children will enjoy it especially if they are not familiar with the originals.
