It's hard to put a new spin on this old story. This time they did though. It's not the worst movie of it's type, and not the best. It's certainly watchable. The acting is a bit on the average side.

What can I say, I can see why it was not released until 7 years after filming. Perhaps they thought it might get better with time? Alien demonic possession movie complete with a UFO. OMG I watched it to the end and it got sillier as it went along, perhaps a reedit? No real character development although I liked Grandpa!!! Save yourself the pain and give this one the flick. 2 stars due to incidental music only which I liked. The special effects should have been redone they were dated and terrible. You have been warned.

Wooden acting at best, a script so lame you'd shoot it and camerawork you'd be ashamed of. There is no back story, or character building at all, the "dad' and I use that term loosely, comes across more as a weird family friend, the mother is ever-so slightly better but not at all convincing, there is no chemistry whatsoever between ma and pa making the lack of a relationship a bit creepy. I think the kids were probably family members of the film makers or cast, else auditions were likely "you'll do" The plot was all over the place and cringeworthy to watch, the dialogue was just stupid most of the time and certainly not helped by the bad acting. Even the sound scene was bad starting with an attempt at painting a creepy scene but coming over as the start to a trance track. The ending left me gobsmacked, it was genuinely a WTF moment.

Kent Peroni (Stephen Brodie, Baphomet), his wife Steph (Cassie Shea Watson) and their kids Jack (Sawyer Bell) and Gabby (Lourelle Jensen) are living through the economic downturn that we're all dealing with, forcing them to move back home into Kent's dead father's (Tom Proctor) house, a place that holds no happy memories for our protagonist. But then the kids start seeing a monster, there's an earthquake in the backyard and even the adults start feeling the temperature drop without any reason. Kent asks his friend Hector (Daniel Escudero) what he should do next, which dues ex Poltergeist means that Hector's grandmother (Patricia Rae) is a psychic. Of course, this seems like a haunted hosue movie until the idea that Kent's drunken and mean fathr is trying to atone from beyond the grave from something that might be...well, look at the poster if you want to spoil the big twist, which I loved, because it's way out there and kind of puts some peanut butter into the chocolate.

I went in blind, and came out satisfied. Acting is fine, the young boy is really good. Its scary and tense, with likeable characters, spooky house and an awesome ending. I loved that it was actors and not cgi who played the evil beings. Its not perfect, by all means. In the beginning there is an earthquake, and it leaves a large hole in the backyard, wich goes down tens of metres. The father just covers it with two pieces of thin planks, laid loosely upon the opening and thats it. With two young kids playing there, I would have put some effort in covering this death trap. The father is a scientist, and a bit too stubborn about the whole haunting thing. He refuses to believe it, even when confronted with a terrified wife, opened cabinets, noices and slamming doors. (Yes, we all know ghosts and demons do not exist, but in this movie, they do.) I recommend it.

Ok so this was a low budget movie if I have ever seen one. Just because it was a B movie does not make it bad. The acting was not horrible, just ok enough to tolerate and finish the movie. I love the witty things the granny said to hot Hector. I just think most of these actors would have been used in a better movie. So what you get here was a ghost and a couple of Demon/Aliens from Hell and OutSpace. With a plot like that it was not hard to see this movie as a miss. But as a Texan I gave it an extra point for the effort put into it. Now, will I see it again or recommend it to anyone? No. But still very good acting at the least.
