HEY EVERYBODY ITS ME (4), and today we review .... return of the living t rex ....the movie !!!!!
SO here we have a movie ....that ALMOST looks like a VR experience cut scene in one of those old fun park attractions .... you know ? ...no you dont ? .. WELL take my word for it , it was a thing !!!!!!! So much green screen used here that i would bet cash the editors eyes are still trying ot recover LOL .... trust me bro ..i know the feels .........
this thing was terrible ......and i know terrible, trust me , ive watched my own films .......BUT it was crazy in a good way, a fun way ...IF only they had used a REAL location instead of the green screen it would have been 10000000000 times better HOWEVER they used the greenscreening to hide SO much that they would have HAD to hide anyways and probably could not have otherwise ..... so ... in this case who knows it might have been the best call .. PLUS who can just find an old science type bunker you can film in laying around ??? But with the green screening issues , like some of the backgrounds didnt sit still, or the actors when moving they didnt exactly match up to the physics of the ground or walls ....or anything lol.... with all that .... they still persevered .....still marched on and made this thing happen ... and i say ...good job .... because .... you did a thing !!!!
And they DID do a fantastic job of hiding the human actors legs in the dino suite throughout the film ... also hiding them just out of frame OR behind a barrel or someone etc ...so points for getting creative on slight of hand ....in fact 75 % of this film was honestly slight of hand ....... just a lot of "as long as people dont notice" it looks FINE ........
pros ... i man ... dinosaurs, zombies , beefy guys talking trash, explosions ....just missing tons of * and i would have swore i was back in the 80's !!!!!! And due to the greenscreening the over all film had its own kind of aesthetic to it .... and it was "neat" i guess ....
cons .... bout everything else .... acting was rough, the jokes were rough, the references , i enjoyed a bit but maybe a little over played .... OR maybe they should have just stuck to the duke nukem ones .. ongoing ? ..i dont know .. but the puns / jokes were kind of .."stale" ? ...
and the editing left me asking myself .... did i do a bag a shrooms laced with meth wrapped in taco sauce before i started this ? .... because WHAT !?!?!??!?? It was like ...someone stuck it in a blender and pushed the "lets hope for the best" button .... thats a button on blenders right ? ... BECAUSE IT SURE MUST HAVE BEEN FOR THIS ONE !!!!!!!!! It just clips along at points lighting fast where "something" happens ... dont know what but now 2 dudes are not with the group ..how ??? Well one guy says he tied his shoes ......so what about the other guy ..howd he get lost ? .... so ...yea ... like ... what ? .... im pretty sure stevie wonder edited this one .......
over all the only question i ever ask is "was it entertaining " the answer is ..... MAYBE ? ..... i suppose it IS ...IF you are into 1.5 hour long music videos from industrial bands .....just put this on and play your favorite eisbrecher song .... or ohgr or something .......BUT even without that .....its oddly entertaining for the oddball visual-ness ? ... and terrible-ness ? ... dang .. it does give you a little something .. BUT is it enough ? ... this time i just dont know .......
3/10.

Back in March, we covered Jurassic Thunder, another film that was directed by Milko Davis and Thomas Martwick. They also made Tsunambee, which we covered earlier this week. Obviously, we're going to watch every movie that these guys put out.
Dr. Wojick Borge has had enough of being made fun of. So he signs up with the Axis of Evil to destroy America with a series of mad scientist weapons like a gas that turns people into zombies and EMP blasts. But that's not enough. No, he has to live up to the title of this movie by unleashing an undead T-Rex called...the Z-Rex.
There are plenty of bullets fired, bodies devoured and zombies walking about. Imagine a sub-Shocking Dark and you have a good idea of this movie.

That's right, I picked up the Blu Ray + DVD Combo Pack for $1...cover looked cool, I like-y Dinosaurs and also like-y all things "Dead", maybe this is one of those "so bad, its good" films like Sharknado or Lavalantula...ugh, no, no, no! Cheap FX, bad blonde wigs, bad acting, cheap green screen backgrounds & laughable rubber dinosaurs that make the 1960s Godzilla look like an Oscar Nominee for best makeup! Bottom line is...even at $1, I overpaid! I'm too embarrassed to ask for a refund at the DOLLAR TREE, so I'm hoping I can unleash this vile combo set on some unsuspecting fool at my next home Garage Sale! Shooo, I'll even GIVE It away!

"The Jurassic Dead" story is uber-contrived, forcing a total submition of the audience to fancy and absurdities. It is a premise that is insanely over the top with everything thrown in but the kitchen sink. The concepts are, individually, cool - although not so original- however they are a bit much when thrown together.
The cast offer a mix bag of two diminsional caricatures, with a couple notable exceptions. Very little comes off as convincing with delivery. Most of the drama is melodramatic in the least flattering way- again with a few notable exceptions.
As for the special effects, personally I found just as much that worked for "The Jurassic Dead" as I found wrong. First, kudos to FX department for doing practical creature efeects. It was a nice design, it worked on camera with one obvious exception, the T-Rex was too small. The CGI was at times, spot-on, some scenes came off a bit 1990, but all in all, Syfy and The Asylum worthy material.
Overall, "The Jurassic Dead" is a great film, the acting and premise is slightly rough to sit through, but there are a few cool, entertaining moments. The big winner for this one is the musical score, and sound track. Awesome work. If you are a fan of these types of microbudget creature features then it will be a decent watch, if not just go into "The Jurassic Dead" for warned.

Mad scientist Dr. Wojick Borge (Cooper Elliot - are those your real ears?) has a serum that reanimates and uses his knowledge to predict a meteor crash to his advantage to bring about the apocalypse in "the time of peril" from his remote desert fortress. A group of commandos and a campers end up at the fortress and fighting a zombie rex.
The special effects were very bad and I believe that was by design. The corny dialogue, scenes, plot, and Dr. Borge indicates they attempted to make a camp classic. The problem was that the film just wasn't that clever. It didn't really spoof as much as poorly copy. Dialogue was juvenile and again lacked any decent humor. One gut spouting conspiracy theories was perhaps the highlight.
On of the things I liked was the use of graphic novel effects during the end credits. I feel this film would have been better if they attempted to have made it more like a graphic novel and less like a failed video game, i.e. use the graphic novel aspect in the film for flashbacks to create a reasonable plot.
Guide: No subtitles. No sex or nudity. Might have been an F-word in a swearing stream of mothers.

On the surface, this sounds like it should be a lot of fun, how could zombie dinosaurs not be? Right? However, this movie seemed to present example after example that this premise was a missed opportunity.
What can I say about this movie? A crazed scientist takes over a military base for reasons(?) and a team of commandos (straight out of a G.I Joe knock off) got in to neutralise him.
Let's start with what I liked. As a comedy this film can be hilarious in places and, looking at it, I find it very it very hard to believe any of the cast or crew were expecting this to be a serious blockbuster that would have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. You can tell this was mostly done just because they wanted to and not because of any serious intention to make the next Jurassic Park. This is a fun movie that on a surface level seems to be someone's passion project made for their own enjoyment more than anything. I think in a world where movies can be very cookie-cutter and deliver only what's they need to make a profit, films like this have a lot of a appeal.
However, that being said, as a movie this has it's far share of problems. The plot, as best as I can understand, revolves around a group of commandos trying to infiltrate a base taken over by a crazed scientist. Beyond that this it very confusing and inconsistent. There is no clear main characters and the lack of any particular focus on the characters means you don't really relate to any of them. I had no idea who these people are or what they're about, besides some extremely basic stereotypes (the jock character likes football etc.). The movie devotes a chunk of the first 1/3 to the villian in an attempt to explain his motives but this simply raises more questions about everything he does. He works for the military and invents a re-animator sérum but then gets fired and becomes a teacher and then gets fired again and becomes dr.claw from inspector gadget? Not a lot about this makes any sense especially since the man then takes over an entire military base singlehanded. In short the plot really isn't easy to follow and I simply ended up just watching things happen for the sake of it.
This movie clearly aimed above its budged with what it tried to do and it shows in almost every shot of the movie. The constant use of green screen and computer effects is not very convincing and a lot of the effects change between shots. Whilst it's no where near the likes of The Amazing Bulk or anything like that, it's still laughably bad. A lot of the effects and filters added in post make it look very cartoonish and almost like the live-action elements where shot on a potato.
Being one of the few things that wasn't completely cgi, the dinosaur is quite a good effect at times compared to the rest of the film. However for a movie with this title the fact that's only one dinosaur and it doesn't appear until 30 mins in (after a tease at the start) is a let down.
In short, this movie was clearly not intended to be taken seriously, and it can be enjoyable that way. However the nonsensical plot and lack of any focus on the characters males it all feel pretty wasteful. This is definitely a case where less would've been more. With a tighter script and a simpler story this could've been an amazing comedy about zombie dinosaurs. Like perhaps if when you get bit you turn into a dinosaur? Within the context of this premise something like that could work and would be something new and probably hilarious.
Anyways as it is the movie is a fun attempt at something a bit different and is a good waste of 90 mins with your friends.

I viewed this in the UK under the title of 'Zombiesaurus' and there was no way that I was going to pass up any film with a title like that! OK, the film quickly establishes that it bears little connection to the DVD cover image of a huge zombified T-Rex running amok in a US city, but the undead titular Jurassic creature (and it is a rather tiny T-Rex, it must be said) is endearing. On this score, I really liked the fact that it was often a physical prop and not merely a jerky SyFy-style CGI creation. The plot does not always make that much sense and the actors probably won't be pushing Meryl Streep, Denzel Washington or Leonardo Dicaprio off the Oscars stage any time soon, but they are spirited (and it does have the best 'no emotional reaction whatsoever to seeing sister dismembered by undead dinosaur' sequence that I have yet seen). In terms of construction, the green screen work is pretty obvious for much of the time, but it nostalgically reminded me of the wonderous LEXX, so I have no problem with that. Finally, kudos must be given to the composer, who nicely weaves in 'homages' to a range of classic scores (I detected Star Wars, Kill Bill and Inception). So, if you want lost teens meeting up with Black Ops mercenaries to fight a villain who looks like a fusion of Darth Vader and Immortan Joe and his human-sized zombiesaurus (not forgetting a few green-eyed zombie mercs!), then this is the film for you (But if you cannot overcome the obvious green screen larks and thespian efforts, then it won't be). Sure, it won't knock Jurassic Park from its cinematic dinosaur perch, but regardless of how rough around the edges the movie is (or because of this!), it is a film that has been made with heart, enthusiasm, and creativity – and what more could you want, especially with a title like Zombiesaurus.
