The Judge

what an amazing movie, I love it

It's not easy to judge or to make the right choice as one. And the past always will get to you, no matter what you do and what you try to forget about it. This family drama is a perfect example of that. Basing everything on two major actors, this is more than solid (gold). The story works and you're invested from the get go. Even if Robert Downeys character might not seem the friendliest or maybe because of that. Because he seems to be able to get away with things. But we do get to see behind that curtain/wall, that his character has made up and his own denial. There is an almost weird love triangle, which might throw some people off, but it's just to make our main character more believable, to show what he became over the years. Every decision will result in some consequences, question is who is the one taking them.... A great drama and movie, highly recommended

Compelling story but just didn't do it for me. Never really felt sorry for the over privileged characters.

Absolutely excellent. RD Jr. Perfectly encompasses his character. Emotional, funny, and thrilling!

The Judge is an impressive picture, much due to the incredible performances of Robert Duvall being Joseph Palmer and Robert Downey Jr. playing Hank Palmer, father and son. Having a slow beginning, the main plot takes a certain time to show up. When the story starts to develop, the film manages to intrigue and captivate from the mystery approached. The court scenes are amazing, having such powerful and breathtaking dialogues. Another interesting aspect from these scenes is the shooting as they're more shady and darker, making the place have a atmosphere much more dense and heavier. The scenes would not have such greatness if weren't for the brilliant performances, which are not limited to the court, showing the troubled relation between the two, having beautiful scenes where we could feel the love, even despite the sadness and resentments that shook the family relation. In the end, The Judge is a beautiful movie with stunning performances and besides all that, a very emotional trial.

Far more engaging than I had expected -- streamed it for want of anything else to watch, truth be told. What a good happenstance: inter-generational conflicts, dashed hopes, striving for love and acceptance, courtroom and romantic surprises. In short, the works! I expect outstanding performances from Duvall and there was no disappointment here. Downey, Jr. Outdid himself, as did the rest of the cast. Highly recommend this film. Bring Kleenex. Bring a pillow to pound on if injustice, particularly familial injustice, incites anger.

I don't run to the theater for every new film. This one intrigued me. Yes, I like Downey and Duvall... but this is one of only two movies that compelled me to brave lines on opening weekend. Good characters, excellent acting and a wonderful story. I read a few reviews that chipped at Downey's "typical" cocky aplomb, as though it was a bad thing, but the role is perfect for him. It's everything I expected and I don't like to be disappointed. Chalk one up for team Downey! I go to the theater to be entertained. The Judge does that and more. It's an emotional tonic. The dialog flows and the antagonism between the two main characters is not wasted. Even the secondary characters hold up and make this a film to see... for the whole family.

Tremendously amazing courtroom drama!!! Unbelievable performances by a stellar cast. I'm going to skip over the obvious RDJ & give a shout out to the great Robert Duvall, also Vera Farmiga & BBT.
