I think Selma Hayak was A HUGE casting mistake. Otherwise it was an interesting enough movie.

I was interested to see this having read Micheal Lewis non-fiction book Flash boys and if I didn't know better I would say this book had just taken the premise of that book and tried to put a fiction film around the basics of it. The technology is close to real life and quite interesting, plus the size of the project is quite something to see. However the plot is just about ok if a little ridiculous at times and the story lacks a build up of any tension or suspense so is just a bit flat.

As a U.S. Military Officer with the Intermediate Range Nuclear Forces Europe, as Required we had Three or more means of Communications, to send and receive Nuclear Control Orders. Each U.S. Nuclear Site including the U.S. Detachments at the German Pershing 1A Sites, U.S. Nuclear Weapons Companies with the U.S. Pershing 2 Sites had Three or more means of Communications. Each Location over 20 years ago had at least Secure Landline Voice and Data, that would later become Today's Civilian VoIP and ADSL. Secure Encryption, Decryption Frequency Modulated (FM) Radio that was LOS (Line of Sight), requiring High Security Towers and Relay Stations. And what identified to the Local Population and the U.S.S.R. each U.S. Nuclear Site, High Power Microwave Towers. The fourth method might be still Classified. Lets just say that the Vulnerabilities (some are still Classified Vulnerabilities) of each means of Secure Communications made it Mandatory for EACH Location to have Three or More means of Communications. Knowing how Encryption, Decryption works, there is only so much you can trim to speed things up, before the Data Packets are uploaded and sent, you can argue that you can send a constant stream of Encrypted Data like Streaming Video, however, what happens before that is sent during Encryption, and when gets to destination and must be Decrypted? There is also the speed of the Network and the speed of the computers on that Network within the Building to consider, as usually the slowest part of the entire process.

This movie is an important reflection on the money system in our société. Funny, deep, captivating, Nguyen director and acting of Hayek (a powerful women), genius Eisenberg, and fabulus Skarsgard a must to see!

Really, I should have realised it would be crap when I saw that Eisenberg was in the film. Why the hell is this guy still being cast in films? He has no idea how to act! Skarsgaard is like wimpy hunchback in the film and I'm surprised he agreed to do this. His roles are usually 'the pathetic character' roles. Although the idea of the film sounded good initially, as you watch it, the original plot dissolves and it becomes a mess of 'crap' basically. Surprised that this is currently a 6.5
