This was a case of they don't make them like that anyone. The Fugitive was a serious yet really entertaining thriller that started as a man on the run trying to prove his innocence to a bigger conspiracy that needed to be exposed. It was a film that had a well-executed plot and excellent set-pieces, especially in the first act. Tommy Lee Jones was fantastic as Samuel Gerard who was determined to find Richard Kimble (Harrison Ford.) This was a film that was so iconic that The Simpsons, American Dad. Scrubs. and Bojack Horseman have parodied it in some way.

A respectful Doc who has a great heart and all his people likes him found himself accused be murdering his wife! Great acting with a lot of thriller; with a whole honor of all sides the police officer who sticks to duty to seeks justice by the law and on the other side a man who's fight for his justice without forgetting his Humanity.

An exciting thriller that scores by expertly combining a kinetic chase with a thorny mystery, and is well served by two charismatic leads giving the sort of performances they do best. It's also one of those rare films that use flashbacks both sparingly and effectively, without sacrificing the breathless momentum of the plot - even the way the groundwork is established in the first few minutes is frantic.

This is the ultimate version of a story that has been much repeated; someone wrongly convicted of a crime must evade the law and clear his name. The Fugitive far exceeds many others following the same narrative for many reasons. The acting of all the main cast is faultless, and whilst Ford is the star, it is Tommy Lee Jones who truly shines in his role of the US Marshal. The storyline is consistently swift and engaging, each distinct section leading seemlessly to the next allowing discovery along the way, punctuated by pulsating action or chase scenes. The plot is intelligent and unexpected, as the audience are able to piece together what has happened along with the lead. The fights aren't all that believeable in parts, and the use of a manikin at the dam is evident (although impossible to film otherwise), but it would be harsh to mark The Fugitive down based on this. It is a non-stop smart thriller, and a perfect example of the genre.

Mystery and deceit with a doctor found guilty of murdering his wife is the basis of a real thriller from 1993. No more needs to be said. The movie is available again, so don't miss it!

What a movie!! Tension, drama, action, humour and a story! Although dominated by Ford and Jones this really sits as an ensemble piece due to the great work of the support cast. It sits just inside plausible (minus one little bit) which I feel adds to the credibility and thus connectivity of the story to an audience. It has a great pacing and I challenge anyone with a regular attention span to get bored watching this!

After one has seen the outstanding television series, you realize what a disappointment the 1993 film was. The fast pacing of the show wasn't there and Tommy Lee Jones winning the best supporting actor award for his performance as Girard was ridiculous. (The award belonged to Ralph Fiennes for his brilliant portrayal of Nazi killer Amon Goeth in "Schindler's List.") The television show was a guessing game of Dr. Richard Kimball's whereabouts. To think, in the movie, the good doctor was hiding out in the hospital all along. This is ludicrous. Don't you think that the police would have looked into this right away?

I don't care what any of the critics say about Harrison Ford; I love his work (I like Michael Douglas, too, so there must be something wrong with me) and he is at his best in this slick, taut, fast-paced, intriguing & suspenseful action story, which has what it takes to keep you involved - a fine script, great interaction between 2 leads (Jones & Ford), and direction which never allows the movie to lag. You don't need explosions and car crashes when you have those. But this movie does gives you one big crash, and because just one they evidently decided it had better be big. The bus crash / train wreck is alone worth seeing the movie for. ("How do they DO that?" asked my wife. "Once", I replied) Escapist adventure fare that is not mindless.
