This was such a beautiful film and the amount of production value pulled off on such a low budget is stunning. I discovered this filmmaker through another great film entitled Ink and am pleased that the director is still doing amazing work. I don't want to spoil too much of this film so won't go into too many details but the two main characters don't know one another and connect in a very unusual way. Seeing how their stories progress with and without one another is very interesting and I couldn't wait to see what happened as it went on. The atmosphere of the film is unlike most films and the director has created an interesting and visual world for us to explore with these characters.
The actors are wonderful and the writing gives them room to really let us see that they are lonely and hurting. Helping that along is a beautiful score and I really felt affection for these two characters and wanted everything to work out for them.
As the film goes forward and we see more of what happens, we are absolutely pulled into these stories even more and I won't go into the specifics but it's where the film really shines in creativity and brings you imagery that I've never seen before. There are some things I didn't understand and am hoping repeat viewings will help clear them up. But it didn't take away from the overall film or the feelings I experienced while watching it. I look forward to another viewing.

Interesting concept, would have been a Good "Black Mirror" episode. But not a full length Movie. After we got what was going on, it dragged on too long...

Truly terrible. Awful. There is not one aspect of this film that could possibly be interpreted or perceived as impressive or entertaining. Plot is mindless. The first half of the film is so incredibly boring and the second half of the film is impossibly stupid. Simply makes no sense whatsoever. You're forced to endure 30 minutes of screen bending and inverted shots of various cityscapes just waiting for it to end. So disjointed and haphazard. Movie goes into a complete meltdown towards the end when the worlds we're supposed to be watching collapse and then it's just scene after scene, random sequence after random sequence of this guy hitting into walls and trying to break free from the screen. Utterly ridiculous. Tells no story; provides no useful takeaways; nothing insightful or interesting. Just absolutely nothing - complete waste of time. Everyone involved or connected to this title should be embarrassed and ashamed for releasing this into the world. Catastrophic filmmaking - should be banned.

"The frame" tells the story of two strangers who, out of a sudden, notice that they are able to communicate through their television with each other and soon start to realize that the world they live in could be only a version of reality with them as the stars of their own respective tv shows.
The movie is very intellectual, sometimes in a good, sometimes in a very posh kind of way. I like the stories of the two characters that are both well acted and in a way I also like the mystery element surrounding their contact. However, as time goes by, rather than providing some plausibility, the film turns more and more artsy and ends with something that looks a bit like a forcedly sophisticated version of Austrian film "Die Mauer". It reflects on the role of the author towards his work but isn't always stringent in its conclusions.
All in all this film shows a lot of potential and convinces through a good cast and the skill to make its audience curious. Unfortunately, it tries a bit too hard to be intellectual and misses to build up a plausible plot on the way.

This piece of absolutely stupid trash is a horrible waste of your time. Slow, boring, terrible plot and apparently specifically written to use the F word repeatedly. Uncreative garbage is the pith of the this review, in case you haven't guessed it.Do yourself a favor and NEVER watch this trash.

After watching Spin and Ink yesterday I have decided to go on with Winans and just finished this now. I felt it slow toward the end, but nevertheless never boring, at all. The opposite. Once again a unique, fascinating creation. There is that mysterious feeling of watching the reality being dissected, as I had it for the first time with Matrix (then Truman Show, 13th Floor, Existenz, and Stranger Than Fiction). And once again, like in Ink, I feel a kind of depth which goes behind the intellectual virtuosity of the Wachowsky, behind sci-fi, behind experimental cinema. I cannot describe it. Probably I am not supposed to. I just want to pay respect with this review.

I am stunned. This is a film with no Hollywood actors, but actors that give their whole, effects rather clever than technologically aided, music simple, but beautiful, adding to the whole atmosphere of the film... As someone already wrote, this is a work of art! A dark and otherworldly take on "Truman Show", one could say, but even more than that. Parallel universe theories, the will to take one's fate into one's own hands (with or without help from someone else... ;)), good & evil... Well it makes you think, it makes you question, it makes you wonder, but it doesn't leave you hanging in the end, like other mystery themed films do. It is absolutely satisfactory from the beginning until the very end. I bow to anyone and all involved in its making! Definitely original, it sucks you in its bizarreness and poetry... Nothing more to add! I REALLY recommend it! It's been ages since I' ve been THAT enthusiastic about a film!!! Watch it! Watch it! Watch it!

Every now and again a film comes along that forces you to reshuffle your top 10 favorite films. Well I had to make way for The Frame to slot into my top 5 !
The film is about 2 individuals trying to comprehend the strangeness of the reality in which they find themselves. Realities seemingly the same, yet different in a unique and profound way, which makes their quest to find each other captivating to say the least!
I thought the pace of the film was apt, the photography novel and creativity and story line engrossing. This film dared to take me on a journey so profound and deep, that I felt a kind of comfort this type of film was 'out there', as in the minds that created it. I know subtle genius when I see it!
I hope Jamin and Kiowa Winans (Director and Producer) continue to give us such quality productions in the future, and investment for that matter as this film was made on what was essentially a shoestring budget. I can't wait to see more from them. I feel a bit like a junkie now waiting for the next installment from them. I need my next ambrosial hit for my mind, and soon!
