What a pompous, up it's own backside movie this was. Trying to convince us all it was 'real' by switching to official interviews with very obvious actor's. It tries so hard to be clever and instead was very annoying. In my eyes this was completely unconvincing and I only gave it three stars as it did at least try to do something different.
One to miss for sure.

This movie has received a fair amount of bashing because apparently it is entirely fictional.
Well what a surprise!
Was anyone honestly expecting a Hollywood production to be real just because it says it is 'based on true events'? It's a damn movie people.
The makers have basically tried to regurgitate the Blair Witch Project formula which was hailed as marketing genius, but The Fourth Kind was pretty much universally panned instead.
As far as the movie goes, I found it easily more creepy than a slasher flick. It reminded me abit of A Nightmare On Elm Street, but without Freddy Kreuger chasing the teen age kids around. It's much more psychological rather than physical horror.
If you're looking for a before bed movie to keep you up at night, The Fourth Kind is a pretty good candidate.

The main plot was that this movie is based on true events. Also that the FBI tried to cover it up. Well. As soon as the movie came out all of the sudden there was an investigation. Why?? Is for every movie that is based on "true" events a investigation? Well maybe the idea was to prove that its fake. No documents were found? No people ever existed? Bla bla bla? Well if anyone watched Xfiles. How did it always end? Well whenever they found something... it got covered up by FBI and there was never enough evidence. This seems like the same happened for this movie. No EVIDENCE. WHy? BEcause then if it was based on TRUE events then people would actually think about it. But as soon as it was announced as "FAKE" or SCi-Fi it meant another Xfiles movie. But actually the scenes were from real film and real studies of patients. FBI is covering it up again. Just like in XFILES.

The Fourth Kind just tries too hard. It tries too hard to be scary and it tries too hard to prove how "true" the story is. This movie has some creepy moments, but overall it's kind of a mess. I think the trailer is better than the movie itself. If you want to see a good alien abduction story, watch an X-files episode.

First let me say that I am hundred percent skeptic about UFO, alien abduction, Sumerian astronauts and all this kind of bull***t.
Nevertheless, this movie was funny and I was sincerely scared in a few "jump" scenes. This is quite an impressive achievement for a movie because I usually do not get scared even watching the worst gory zombie or monster movie.
The frame of "real" footage did work, actually, at least unconsciously. I was "concerned" about main character's mental health.
After watching the movie I looked for information on the Internet and I was surprised when I realized that many people did believe the trick of the "real" footage was true! How naive people can be. :)
IMHO, this means that the movie is well done, truly entertaining and it's worth a look.

Starring Milla Jovovich, directed by Olatunde Osunsanmi and written by Olatunde Osunsanmi and Terry Robbins.
This is a controversial film that claims to be based on true events and whether it is or not, it's a fantastic movie, Do me a favour. Watch this in the dark and close the curtains and enjoy it for what it is.
It's creepy and gripping and haunting and terrifically acted by everyone, especially the lovely Milla Jovovich. I don't know if the events in the film actually happened or whether it's a big fat lie and part of me wants it to be a lie because otherwise some really messed up stuffed happened back in 2002!
But true or untrue, it's well worth a watch. So go on get this and turn off that light. You won't be disappointed.
