This movie is not the flick with those good emotional drama that tugs at you nor does it feel like it has heart to it. In fact I was quite bored with this movie and quickly lost the intention for it. Now I haven't read the novel but after watching this flick I don't really feel like it. But it did sort of caught me off guard since I thought it was gonna go in that "The Count of Monte Cristo" direction but it didn't really. The thing is this movie fails to leave that impact even near the end. The transition from a guy starting out as a coward becoming heroic is done in a manner where there isn't a single gripping moment in the entire movie. Heath Ledger and Wes Bentley seemed to do well, at least with what they were given. But Kate Hudson who plays the love interest between the two male leads is the most dis-likable character in this movie. Despite her not even being in the movie much. This is pretty much a bland and over drawn out movie that becomes very predictable early on. 4/10

admirable story about values. a lesson about courage, sacrifice and friendship. powerful, subtle, impressive. an old fashion film. and an extraordinary work. it is difficult to give a verdict. sure, war, romance, historical slices are ingredients for a nice cocktail. but The Four Feathers is a little more. and this fact is essential. Heath Ledger makes a great role. entire art of nuances, entire force of performance are bricks for an extraordinary character. the truth as heart of personal battle, the action scenes, the dialogs - each - part of authentic jewel. so, it is not a film for descriptions or critics. only source of impressions.

Potentially a good movie...fine camerawork, acting and general plot but ruined by many unbelievable (or unexplained) events. Some have been mentioned already by others...no real clue is given as to how Harry and Jack manage to survive that massacre for example?...How did Abu rescue Harry and friend from the pile of dead bodies? And then there was the laughable fight between Harry and monster-sized enemy where, yes the old cliched "after being hopelessly outclassed and beaten to a pulp, the hero draws on some inner strength and somehow is victorious" scene unfolds. Too long too...should have just left out the whole episode of deliberately getting into jail so that he could rescue his friend. Not so much a time issue, just too much heroics to be believable.

This is a very good movie. Just feel bad about the way people vote on IMDB. A lot of sequences are gory, but that doesn't warrant a 5.5/10. I think it should have an 8, but I'll vote 9 so I can do my bit to even the score. I wonder if the patrons of IMDB know how to appreciate art and craft of making movies. Both England and Sudan are handled extremely well. As another viewer mentions, well acted by all the players, and it is extremely realistic.

I absolutely love the 1939 version and while I knew this version wouldn't be as good, I thought it would at least take something from the original since it was rated so highly. This adaptation doesnt hold the mystery of Harry as well. They also missed the mark in making him look like a native, he basically just grows his hair and poof he's supposed to blend in. With that being said it's not the worse movie and if you've never seen the original, it would probably be more enjoyable since you have nothing to compare it to. Heath Ledger gives a good performance but I think Kate Hudson was miscast for this role as she doesn't bring Anything to her character, she's just kind of there. Conclusion: An ok one time watch movie or time killer.

Incredible! One of the all-time great adventure films was "The Four Feathers". Made in 1939. Hear that, Guys? It's been done! Why is it, that with so many possibilities available for new material - so many great scripts submitted by talented writers - that the only pitch that succeeds in this town seems to be - "Hey, let's do an updated version of..." Has it really been that long since "The Wind and the Lion"? NO, you can't do better than Ralph Richardson. NO, you can't do better than C. Aubrey Smith. Nor the unpublicized John Clements. And you certainly can't do better than the Korda treatment. Someone else said that Hollywood is getting cocky these days. Well, Hollywood has always been cocky. I just think they're just getting stupid - like their audience.

I have to admit, looking at the scores I wasn't expecting a really good movie, but to my surprise it was. The story was way better then I assumed and acting was good. For me the movie was more then worth watching and left me with a good feeling. I liked the fights and the struggle to find his friend and regain his proud as the feather stand symbol for coward behavior. Also the unexpected help, which I couldn't really figure out why was a nice swing in this movie. I think this is something really worth watching and I hope you enjoy it as I did.

The Four Feathers won't be considered a great film when history is through with it, but the beauty and epic nature of the film should still be admired. Much like many other films very similar to it (Master and Commander, Last Samurai and Hero) the landscape and sets are the major reasons to watch the film. While the historical context in this film was weeded out by political correctness, one cannot deny the work and talent that was put into this film. Heath Ledger and Wes Bently were both good in this film, showing some potential as great actors in roles that were rather hard to fill. However, Kate Hudson once again showed she has no acting ability to speak of, causing me to convulse every time she vomited a word out her mouth. While other remake of this film will be deemed better in regards to historical accuracy and possibly from an acting standpoint, but this film easily has them beat in the cinematography department.

First off, i would like to say i thought this was an excellent movie. The Cinematography was fantastic. It really was a pretty movie, with huge sweeping desert scenes and beautiful colors, it really felt like an epic of old. There are a few things i would say were a little negative, Kate Hudson's character, Ethne seemed out of place, Kate Hudsons acting was just not up to par with Ledger and Bently's performances. But, all in all, i recommend this movie to everyone! 9 out of 10
