Went into this with no expectations and was pleasantly surprised. The characters came to life and were believable and sympathetic. In the era of Riefenstahlesque superhero movies that is a welcome alternative... Thanks.

I liked this movie. It was interesting and entertaining. This was a good role for Whitney Cummings. I always so her as a comedian, but she manages to explore other acting abilities which I did not see before. A nice surprise. The main romantic interest between Kevin and Julia works very well. The only problem: I wanted to see more of it, and less the other couples. It is regrettable it was not explored more. In fact, I would have liked to have seen this film just with the main story line, explored properly. The Vergara / Cole storyline was particularly dull and disappointing; I wish they would have just cut it out from the film. The others were good enough, mildly entertaining, and casting was good (especially Marsden / Punch, which worked well). Beanie Feldstein is always entertaining, and it was good to see her again. To summarize, good movie, very watchable. I liked it. p.s. I am also a man! ;-)

I really like Whitney Cummings and I enjoyed the movie as well. I'm sad to see the poor reviews. I think it was informative and well acted. It was great to get all that information and still be entertained. I was never bored and I found it interesting and amusing.

This is a surprisingly good movie with plenty of laughs. This is a good old fashioned feel good movie that delivers on the comedy without trying to hard. And to think i nearly passed this up because of the lack lustre reviews.

Ignore where Hulu or whatever threw this in the genre category. The people giving it a low rating just because they didn't find it funny are missing the point of the film. I mean, come on, some are writing in here that they didn't even watch the whole thing and you need to to get the point. Yes it has its funny moments but its not that kinda movie. It's to show us that, yeah, us guys get a bit competitive around eachother and our testosterone plays into it and women enjoy gossip because it helps them feel more in tuned to the society they are in. But we shouldn't jump the gun based on assumptions we may have with the opposite sex at times and at other times it's those differences that make eachother stronger. Whitney Cummings is brilliant. Anyone who's actually listened to her speak publicaly like when she's on Rogans podcast knows she knows her stuff so to say she's just making up what she is saying needs to pick up a book. Please watch this with an open mind and pay attention to the details it's trying to show.

I really enjoyed this movie and was pleasantly surprised at how it was designed. I love all things related to the brain and it was really fun to see a few of our most common bizarre behaviors put into their biological context. The entire cast gave great performances, but I'd just like to give a shout out to Cecily Strong. Her character went through the normal battles of wrestling with her emotions and the battles of being a woman in a male-dominated job, and came out on top of both. A great performance from a woman who doesn't get enough credit either for her comedy or as her role as an example for women.

This was a very good film which I just saw on a plane overseas. I was laughing aloud in the cabin. Its typical Whitney humor. I cannot yet figure out the low star rating for this film, and in general why this clever writer/actor/director doesn't seem to get many critical or popular breaks. Her maiden show, Whitney, which had a great ensemble cast, was prematurely cancelled IMHO. But I'm glad the underwriters continue to give her some vehicles, as she does have a message. We saw her standup where she gave our her latest book, I'm Fine, which is also very funny as well. Anyway, if you haven't yet, give this film a chance. There is so much more blather out there that get 7's or above. This one deserves at least that.

The Female Brain had a promising first hour and twenty minutes, but then movie had to do forced happy ending. In the end all the science was thrown out of the window and filmmaker just gave a message "Women are Women - OK!" It would have been more romantic if man and a woman had SIMILARITIES in their brain scan and she would react very positively to a picture of him. That would have melted my heart. Yes, I am a man and I love romantic stories - I just blow mind of the Whitney Cummings! Man can not be soft, sentimental and nurturing like ALL the women are.

Whitney Cummings is director and main actress of this brainwork (what a movie mostly is, always). It has some comedic, some drama, some pseudo (or call it superficial if you like) science elements. I think that average rating at IMDB is pretty much realistic. Movie is not realistic, and that's the biggest flaw. Script is what is not realistic, and direction makes it just worse in many cases. So, I would say that it targeted too high, or to use again word what came most time to my mind: they had unrealistic expectations for them self. Older married couple was presented really poorly. That was too lifeless, of course even for tired one. Main 'romance' was everything but not romance - what means of course that those who called this rom-com are wrong - not romance, not comedy - although comedy at least worked sometimes. Our brave researcher Julia acted in that very first 'date' complete like some android programmed for stereotypical male. While male (Kevin) did everything to show that he is not acting according to stereotype. That just worked not - too unrealistic. Sure, comedy is not something what aims to be much realistic, but this just went to far. Again - lifeless. And the ending ... it was rather like making some contract, just without lawyers and papers. At the end couple of Lucy Punch + James Marsden appeared as best in all this. No, not great, just least bad. Ratings: Script: 3 Direction: 5 Acting overall: 6

No, it's not a documentary. At best it's a smart chick flick. That's not a bad thing though. It tells us a lot about the cerebral differences between males and females and it does it while telling a number of stories. And the stories are good and they're something most people can relate to. But like another viewer said, watch it until the end. Not a waste of time.
