Not completely awful, but not far away. The camera work is pretty good, and there is some decent acting in the build up. The violence is not over the top, much is seen from a distance, or not seen as it happens out of shot. It is not a gorefest but works quite well. It is the action/suspense scenes that make this movie a turn off. There is no discernable storyline. There is no rhyme nor reason to anyone's action or reaction, whether that be killers or victims. There are scenes that are lifted from other films, such as The Devil's Rejects, and Scary Movie. It all seems very random and haphazard. There is an attempt at a plot twist at the end, that is just another indescriminate and unexplained event. The final outcome is unclear, but I found I did not care enough to be frustrated by this. It was just a relief it was over.

Reminding me the movie The Village, in the same way with always the USA thing in a small town... a good movie to watch once. Good acting helping the viewer enjoying the film.

No plot development, no suspense, yawnnnn!!!! Worse movie seen in a long time. Just a copy cat of other boring stories of mindless killers. I think they saved a lot on using actors with cayote masks, where there was no character development while merely weilding knives and firing guns.

An amazing film. Well worth watching and unbelievable it has such a low score. Great story line, great location, great acting and great soundtrack.
On top of that it has the legendary Lance Henriksen.
If you're having doubts about watching this just give it a go, it had me hook line and sinker from the word go.

Just finished this new movie, I thought it was going to be a hard edge slasher flick, but sadly its more of a thriller.
Takes place in New Mexico, which they brilliantly capture throughout the movie.
The film opens with a local getting murdered by two masked assailants that seem to be drifters. Then it leads to a town rodeo and the murders of a pair of teen lovers parked in a RV out by a campsite. These two killers seem to murder their victims and rob them as well.
Then the film shifts into slowburn mode and centers on a cowboy whose sister is planning on leaving town and their family farm behind. Two of their close friends hold a small going away party for her at the farm, and are terrorized by the killers after one of them comes across their neighbor couple being murdered. The four of them quickly must defend themselves and survive the night.
This really gives you no explanation on who the killers are and they never show them with their roadkill animal masks off.
Not overly gory or violent either, most of the violence is either not shown up close or in brief flashes.
I also had previously saw another review online where this was being compared to strangers and you're next, but this one was nowhere as intense as those two films. This one has a very slow build up, but doesn't get intense at all.
The cast was pretty good in this also. Veteran Lance Henrikson plays a smaller role in this movie.

I've just wasted 130 mins of my life.
Was there actually a script....or did they wing it...!
I kept hoping it would get better.....it got worse.
The scenes and characters were disjointed....nothing flowed. Things just didn't hold your interest.
There was no explanation as to why things happened the way they did and to whom...
You never really got a background on any of the characters....so it wasn't emotionally investing when something happened to them.
Please no sequels..!

So this film is about ranchers and cowboys. Not in a western way... but a modern slow cowboy town thing. 2 feral-like killers donning fur mask goin around.. er... killing. Cowboy witness them doin their thing and proceed to enter the place to touch stuff when the killer move to different room. Touch the dead body to make sure its really blood on the body. Then he turns his back and make a phone call, devoid of common sense when he really should look around while making the call in case killer sneaks behind and smack him in the head. Heck, he shouldnt be in the scene of crime in the first place.
Then there's the sister of the cowboy. She looks really good during night scene. Could be a different actress. I dont know. She has a 6 shooter pointing at one of the killers holding her friend hostage with a knife to the throat. She wasted 1 bullet in the air while the killer kills the hostage anyway. Instead of opening fire... she goes back into the car to hug her other crying friend? Dude... why bother with the gun. Just hold a can of baked beans instead.
The killer knows they are inside the car, knocked the window to scare them. What do they do? Continue sitting in the car and talk.
The came a scene where cowboy and sister manage to get into a truck and drive off... somehow the truck hit an invisible wall. Like typical car crash, you just have to lean on the horn. Killer rush over and found nothing infront of the truck. No invisible wall. Which means the cowboy just wanted to sound the horn and pretend unconscious on the wheel.
In the end... they 'revived' the killer for sequel. Please dont.

Wtf is this, this movie is terrible. I mean I seen some dumb horror films but this takes it to a new level of stupidity, to the point I wanted to walk out of the room I was watching it in, multiple times because of how terrible it is. I could hire a group of middle schoolers to write a horror movie at least 10x as good. This movie made me cringe so hard tik tok doesn't seem as bad. God this movie is terrible

I wanted to write a review for the movie after having watched it but they wouldn't let me do so because the movie was yet to officially release. Now that reviews are activated I want to review it but I don't remember anything about the movie except that it was really really bad. The fun part is that I am quite certain that I watched it in the last couple of weeks.
Its just that bad. Now that I am racking my brain I seem to remember a girl who is really short but kind of beautiful. Just saw her again in another horrendous movie named Wander. Then there is her brother who is the lamest actor in the history of cinema. To give you an idea of how bad the movie is made, there is this one scene where the lame brother somehow manages to shoot the killer but only manages to wound him slightly but then he goes on to adjust his hat before he tries to shoot him again. It is so badly made that some bad scenes stick with you even though you don't remember most of it.
Its like a child made the movie and not a very smart child either. If I wanted to become an actor and these were the movies that came my way I would give up. They say that there is always light at the end of the tunnel but for people who make and act in these sort of movies there is never going to be any light. You don't want to wake up one day when you are 50 and realize that you made nothing out of your life. You have just this one life and it is not to be wasted in acting in movies like The dead of night. Might give up right now. Burger flipping ain't all that bad.

Here me out. The movie was made with little budget I am sure and it definitely is as good as most horror movies I've seen in the last 3 years.
The music is good, the cast, set, scenes and acting do a good job of creating an authentic NM scene.
It is a bit raw and has some moments you will be screaming use the camera stabilizer but you will also be on the edge of your seat saying 'do this' and 'why did these idiots not do that..' Classic
If you could fault it for anything I would say it would be the wrap-up that will leave you with a little bit of 'how the hell did this happen' and 'what are they insinuating is next'.
It is a but anguishing, just like many other horror movie endings.
Perhaps the sequel will be better and with a bigger budget next time.
My daughter and I are horror fans and we will be looking for one from Robert Dean.
Our review ends with a suggestion to grab your movie partner and give it a go!
